Joe's Crab Shack Refuse to serve

Hello I'm a Landry's loyalty member my loyalty number is [protected].
My self along with my party of 3 came to the Restaurant on I- Drive. We called an hour earlier which was 8:39PM on 12/30/19. We were told that we could be seated 45 minutes before closing which is as 11PM. When we arrived we were told that they couldn't serve us after driving for more than an hour.
This is ridiculous and we should have been told this when we called instead!

Joe's Crab Shack service

I went out to dinner with my daughter and her friend our server, Justin was very witty and hit it off with both of them. We ordered one order of crab legs, which is $31, and we told him we wanted to share one order. When he read it back he said "for two". I should have said something when I heard him say that. He actually charged us for two orders!. I don't appreciate his lack of honesty and I don't feel that I should feel like I'm being swindled when I go out for dinner! I will not be back at Joe's Crab Shack. Robert Jones

Joe's Crab Shack service / discrimination

On 09/26/2019 my group visited Savannah and Joe's Crab Shack for the first time. We went in for Happy hour after 3 pm. We sat outside in the back. In the entire restaurant, there may have been 4 couples. As we were seated we waited for our waiters or waitress to come out to get our drink orders. Three minutes went by and no one came to the table however, another party of two was seat back near us. Within two minutes someone was out taking their orders and gathered the menus. We are still waiting. The waitress comes back out with their drink orders and leaves. Nothing is said to us. Sadly, when the information was brought to the managers attention he did nothing said nothing. Another staff stated that he was coming but just got in and was given our table. It doesn't makes sense if we were there before the Caucasian couple. Plus, the waitress for them was Caucasian and Ours was going to be African American. When I asked for the Regional manager or a comment card, everyone was like we don't have any. Rude disrespectful employees. No remorse at all. Joe's Crab Shack has shown its true colors. A negative word goes a long way than a good one. From one Management to another this should have not happened and I feel the team needs some schooling on CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Joe's Crab Shack Discrimination

To whom it may concern:

On 8/3/2014 my husband and I visited Joe’s Crabshack for a very special date night. This is our one favorite place we always go to on special occasions. We usually have a good experience but this time things went very badly, enough so that we have decided to never go back to that location, possibly not any location ever again.

This was our experience.

When we arrived we asked if we could sit at the outdoors eating area. We were in good spirits, excited to have some time to ourselves. We made pleasant small talk with our server named Hopelynn. My husband ordered a beer and the Orleans Steampot + 2 lb of extra crawfish and I ordered a water and the Queen Crab bucket.

There was an elderly couple sitting behind us, and the woman was smoking but that didn’t bother us. My husband and I sat and talked and kept to ourselves and Hopelynn brought out his beer and my water.

Soon after, the tattooed bartender (who I later came to find out was named Ashlee), came outdoors to chat with us. At first it seemed like she was just being very friendly and asking how we are doing, we responded in kind. Then she asked to see my husband’s ID (this was the first time he was asked, this was after he had already been given the beer and had already been sipping on it). So he took out his ID and it slid from his fingers to the ground (condensation from the drinking glass, had made his fingers wet), he picked it up off the ground and handed it to the bartender. She looked at it, saw he was 34 years old, handed it back and asked, “Sir, I need to know if you’ve had anything to drink before you came here today?”

He replied honestly, “Yes, I had 2 beers at home prior to coming here but my wife is driving.”

We were very confused, you see, we’ve never been asked these questions before and didn’t understand what the bartender was leading up to.

Ashlee the bartender then said, “I apologize, but I am going to have to cut you off after that beer, it’s for the safety of you and others that we limit our customers”.

We were shocked, and quite embarrassed to be honest. There were other customers sitting outside who witnessed this conversation. We really just wanted to leave but we had already ordered and our food was brought out just then, so we felt we had no choice but to sit and eat in confusion and humiliation. Barely even tasted the food, we were so upset.

I asked to speak with the manager, because I needed to know why we got such degrading treatment. Sherrie R then came and talked to us and when we asked her what behavior led them to think my husband had had too much to drink, she fumbled with her words and I could tell she really didn’t know why my husband was approached the way he was, but she felt she had to support her bartender’s decision. She said basically it was the “look in his eyes” and the fact that he dropped his ID when asked to pull it out. My husband is a big guy and it takes a lot more than 2 or 3 beers to make him unsteady. Sherrie also said that it’s for our safety that they limit patrons, to which I replied, “how is it unsafe for him to have 2 beers, when I am the one driving and I haven’t had anything to drink?”

Several times in the conversation I told her that I wanted the bartender’s name so that I could file a complaint, and Sherrie pointedly never once mentioned the bartenders name, merely said “Oh I’ll give you a business card before you leave with the info.” She came back with 2 business cards and then she walked off. I looked at the business cards and one was hers, the other belonged to the General Manager. But there was no information of who the bartender was. So we had to wait another 10 minutes for the manager to come back so we could ask her yet again. Finally, she said “the bartender’s name is Ashlee” and then I said, “I am sure you can’t give me a last name and I understand that so can I have her employee ID number to reference on my letter?” Sherrie R then said, I can’t give you her employee ID number, or last name, I can ONLY give you her first name.

My husband sat quietly the whole time, embarrassed and afraid he had done something wrong and that it was his fault our evening was ruined. He did nothing wrong.

After that, we sat for a bit waiting on the check… My stressed husband needed a cigarette and asked me if I thought this was a smoking area. I told him since the older lady was chain smoking outside of here it must be a smoking area. He lit up a cigarette and barely smoked 1/3 of it when the manager came outside again and told him, “Sorry sir, this is a non smoking area even though it is outdoors”. They never once said anything to the old couple that was smoking near us, but the moment my husband lights up, we get reprimanded and embarrassed in front of everyone AGAIN.

I feel like they singled out my husband, for whatever reason, I don’t know, but I can tell you that was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant.

We spent $80.00 including the tip that day, and barely even tasted the food.

Normally, we spend around $120 because we get deserts and appetizers. But after that, we are never going back to that location.

This kind of treatment is unacceptable with the amount of money we and other patrons spend at this establishment.

In regards to:
Joe’s Crabshack

1.- You said in the Header that the complaint was about "Discrimination" and then complained about the treatment by the staff and management.
2.- If the service was that bad the why would you say that you left a tip : "We spent $80.00 including the tip that day, and barely even tasted the food. "
3.- You also said at the end of your complaint "Normally, we spend around $120 because we get deserts and appetizers"... Well you did not get an appetizer because the food was ordered and I don't think 2 desserts would cost $40.
4.- SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED HERE AND YOU ARE LEAVING IT OUT BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN TREATED POORLY AT A RESTURANT BEFORE AND I GOT UP AND LEFT... Just because the food was ordered doesn't mean you need to stay.

Joe's Crab Shack Food

We live in Florida and we often have guests that come to visit and stay. We took 2 different families to the Joe's here in Ft. Myers. BOTH complained about the fish and chips tasting old and frost bit. They were not aware that the other group had said this and we paid A LOT of money both times for our meals and drinks. The service was off the second time, guy basically ignored us, the silverware was dirty and had to be replaced. I wrote the manager back in June and explained my complaints and he promised a gift coupon and I have yet to receive it! So here I am letting the world know my complaint! The food is way overpriced for what you get. I would prefer to go to Red Lobster from now on and get salad, bread and much more for the money. See ya Joe's! Maybe next time you will take my complaints more seriously!

Joe's Crab Shack Deliberate overspicing of food/poor service

I went to Joes Crab shach in Rancho Cucamonga. I was convinced by the server to get the Cajun pot. I told her it was over spiced because I had had it twice before. She insisted that I order it because it had more meat in it. She said I could order it without the spices. I ordered it under spiced. When It came out, the crab was missing 2 legs, the shrimp were overcooked and you could see a lot of seasoning on it. I began to eat it because I did not think that the spices on it were pepper. My lips began to swell and my face around the lips began to swell. I believe that someone deliberately over spiced the food. I was treated very badly. I put ice to my face and lips immediately. They insisted on replacing the food despite the fact that my lips and face were too swollen to eat from the spices. They never apologized. They did not comp the bill. The service was very poor and we were treated with distain. I am letting people know what I experienced because it felt very bad and I do not want others to have this experience. I will never eat there again. Beware.

Joe's Crab Shack No tact or class

I have worked for many restaurants in my 35 years in the restaurant business. I was terminated from Joes Crab Shack almost 5 years ago. My compaint is this, I neve had any verbal or written warnings from this company. The company had just been sold and the new management wanted to clean house. I was a regional manager for them and I was flying into a city that I was responsible for. My boss text me to meet him in the baggage claim area. Where he took about 5 minutes to terminate my employment with some lame reason. I was shocked that after working for the company for 10 years they would not give me the respect to talk to me about any issues they were having with me. Whats ironic about this is a few months before this he was talking about how he terminated a regional manager almost in the same fashion. However this time he picked up the regional manager outside the airport drove around the airport terminated him and dropped him off at the front door. Really? This is the most unprofessional leaders in the restaurant business. Maybe this is why they are not growing there business. Thank-You Ray Blanchette and James Kuhn for being the great leaders you think you are. NOT.

Joe's Crab Shack Stolen Money

In September of 2012 we went on vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC and one night decided to eat at Joe's. My parents, my nephew, my fiance and I had decent meals and the service was fine. The bill for our meals totaled just over $85. My fiance and I decided to get a dessert while my father payed the $85 plus tip in cash. Our dessert totaled just over $9. As my parents left the table to walk around some other stored before they closed, we were given our check which we paid with a Visa. Being in a hurry to catch up to my parents, my fiance quickly signed the slip and we left. When we returned to our condo, she checked her bank account and noticed she had been charged the $85. We figured it was an honest mistake so we called the restaurant and the manager agreed that the charge was not correct and gave us a number to call to have it fixed. We called and left a message, which was not returned. We called several more times and never received a return call. We decided to go through the bank and file a claim. A few months passed and we received a letter in the mail with a copy of the signed $85 receipt and a statement telling us that our money would not be refunded. We called the restaurant again and the management truly seemed to want to help, although they NEVER returned my calls or followed up as promised. I spoke to 2 restaurant managers and a district manager before being given a direct number for a customer service rep in Texas. After speaking with her a few times she said that because they had a copy of the signed receipt our money would not be refunded. I told her if that was the case then the cash my father payed was stolen and that he should call. He called and spoke with her as well as another manager for the store. They told him he was lying and that as far as they were concerned the matter was settled. So essentially we have come to the conclusion that the waitress at the restaurant pocketed my fathers cash minus the $9 for the dessert and charged the main bill to my fiances Visa. I've never seen a company try this hard to not satisfy a customer. The least they could do is offer us a gift card, but they were insistent on calling us liars.

I agree...it must be common practice because I had a similar situation at the Crab Shack in Louisville on the Ohio River in July, 2015.
I called the store spoke to a district mgr and no follow up then called the corporate customer svc in Houston with no return calls. I visit Louisville monthly to visit my mom and usually stops by Joe s Crab Shack.

I'm going to Louisville this month, but no Joe s for me...Poor follow up and dishonest employees!

Joe's Crab Shack Poor Service

I received the worst service in my entire life at this Joe's Crab Shack located in Houston, TX. First we had to wait almost 10 minutes because there were not any clean tables (looking around I noticed about 7 tables that were dirty) after we were seated we waited another 15 minutes for the waitress just to come and greet us and take our drink order, needless to say by the time the waitress got to our table we were ready to order drinks, appetizers and meals! After waiting another 20 minutes our appetizer arrived and WE STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED OUR DRINKS! The waitress then asked if "we needed appetizer plates?" Having two adults and a small child at the table, I thought it was an odd question, because OBVIOUSLY we needed appetizer plates! At that point I was in total disbelief, after I responded "yes" to her lucid question, she then proceeded to go get the plates. My boyfriend (who has never wanted to leave a restaurant due to poor service) asked if we could leave! This experience was horrible! We spent 45 minutes in a restaurant and never even received our drinks! Undoubtedly, we left this Joe’s crab shack location without any plans to return again.

Joe's Crab Shack Charged for someone else's meal

Dined at the resturant located at 2120 S. HWY 6, Houston TX 77077, and was charged for my meal and another patron's meal, at another table. A party at my table stated they thought that is what had happened since it was taking so long for the server, Steve, to return with the receipts. The manager, Adrian, was asked if that was the problem and he lied stating the computer system was down, which we knew did not sound right, because other people were getting their tickets/receipts. When Steven returned to the table he contradicted with the manager said and stated there was a problem with the credit cards, but also lied, stating the problem was not with our table, but the table behind us. He could have simply advised of the error and apolozied. However, I did not find out about the error until I contacted my bank that Monday. When I contacted the manager, Adrian to advise, he became very rude and unprofessional, so I asked for the corporate number. I have called them for two days, now, with no return call. Each time I was told that Criss would call me back, but has not. I now understand why there was only a hand full of people dining in the resturant. They are not busy savy, at all, and have the nerve to be rude and unprofessisonal. No wonder they may have to close some of there locations, which is what I have heard. If it's not true now, I'm sure it will be soon.

that actually happened to me the 610 location. so when i finished my meal and looked at my receipt imagine my surprise when it showed my steam pot was over $40!? apparently i got a receipt for the lobster steam pot when i ordered the joe's classic which is like $20 less. so instead of correcting her mistake and ringing up my meal again, the waitress stated for me to just pay for a meal i did not order so she wouldn't get in trouble with her manager. so guess what i did? i called for the manager to come to my table, i explained that because it was her mistake and she didn't want to correct it, i wasn't going to pay for it. i told him to take it out of her check and i walked out. and yes i still show my face up there only now i don't think that waitress works there anymore and the manager knows me by name. he always gives me a free drink when he's working (shark bite)

Joe's Crab Shack the service and food

As we were seated at our table we waited for quite sometime before we were even approached for drinks and appetizers. We weren't given any silverware and rarely checked on once we actually received our drinks and app.. After our meals came, everyone said the food was okay, because it was fried, except for the King Crab Legs. We actually paid $30. for legs that I was shocked the waitress's manager even let her serve! I love working for a good crab leg but when there is no meat what is the point! The Claw, compared to my fork, was about half the size of the prongs and each of the joint were even smaller. The meat that came out, was about the size of a nickel! This is rediculous! This was such a waste of money, and Joe's Crab Shack is a total rip off, that company obviously doesn't care and is going downhill.

Your apology was "not manager worthy" what does that mean?

I went to Joe's in Clearwater Fla. Friday night with my wife and grandmother and the kitchen manger and I had a misunderstanding which was fine. But when he found out he was wrong his apology was not manger worthy he was still trying to get his point across. Thanks to our waitress Angela we even stayed she the reason we even come 5-6 times a month. After all the new management I doubt if we will be coming back any time soon and we defiantly will not be spending our weekends their as much.

I like the Joe's Crab Shack in Georgia State; my favorite to order is 'The Big Hook Up'... When I went back to Oklahoma City, I was excited to try the Joe's Crab Shack. I noticed the services are really quite very slow. It's not really as busy compared to Georgia; we waited over 15 minutes and finally I went to the cashier and told her that we never get help yet; so she went and told the young guy to served us. I noticed the price in Okc is a little bit higher compared to Georgia. Anyway, I still ordered my favorite 'The Big Hook Up' & I still like it especially the big Fried Crunchy Fish!... After 2 1/2 wks w/c is today, I was craving for the 'Big Hook Up' again... I decided to take it 'ToGo'. I went to: 1508 SW 74th St Okc 73159. I gave $2.00 tip to the waitress, I thought she's nice. I went home, open the ToGo box and found very very disappointed. The fish they put for 'ToGo' is an ordinary breaded fish! I can have this kind of fish in 'Long John Silver' for lesser $. The french fries are so awful! All the left over crumbs of the batter, they put it inside the ToGo box! My goodness! I never seen how bad is the cooking of OKC Joe's Crab Shack! No phone # on the receipt to complain... No wonder they don't have much customers! I am very very much disappointed, never will I recommend JOE'S in OKC! Never will I come back! :( - seeing 'The Big Hook Up' was being cooked here in OKC makes my appetite change! :((

Went to Crab Shack this past Saturday all of the servers, where dancing in and out of the isles, who was minding the store? From thier commercial, their crab pots look full from top to bottom, beware they are not their is a plate that sits in the middle of the pot to make it look like you are getting a whole pot of food, but in actually you're not. What a rip off this place is I would not recommend it to anyone, oh the location where I went was in Lawrenceville, NJ also very small place.

Went to Crab Shack in OKC, South. Was very very disappointed. Prices sure went up for one. Got seated at table(server probably thought i was drunk, but was suffering from low blood sugar) ordered a COKE(for blood sugar, thank goodness had a candy bar) it took about 10 minutes to receive Cokes(from different server cause ours was to busy), when i received Coke, placed order immediately. It took a longggggggggg time for food to arrive, which i should mention was way over cooked(Chef Ramsey would have been irate), when we got our food i asked for some ketchup for fries and the waitress(Sarah) gave me a bottle that had about 2 squirts in it. Went up and got more. Then at the end the manager asked(who saw everything that happened, cause she was the one who sent over the COKE boy, asked how everything was. We told her we were dissatisfied. She said what can i do to make this right? We just asked for bill(why should we tell her how to make it right?) Couldn't find anyone to pay for a LONG time. Finally got out of there and will NOT be back. Hopefully, some hire up people will try and check on this kind of service.
