HSBC Holdings charges for long unused credit card

My hsbc gold credit card, initially sold to me as a life time free card numbering [protected], has not been used since june 2007. this has been communicated in person to the local branch of hsbc in kochi, kerala and also telephonically to the hsbc call centre.in spite of this fact, yearly charges have been debited to my credit card account in violation of government guidelines, and I have been receiving letters to this effect. I had requested for cancellation of the facility in 2009, but there was no reply from hsbc. I request for redressal of my grievance and for permanent cancellation of credit card facility.

HSBC Holdings terrible customer service

We have had a GM card for over 17 years, paying our account ahead of time and always paying our account in full. We were out working on the road and did not take our credit card with us, we knew we had a $17. charge but our laptop crashed and when we got to a computer we could not access our account and when we called we were directed to customer service in Phillapeans. We were treated like criminals, now we're not talking about a large bill, when we did get home we couldn't believe that this $17. charge is now $48.00 and when we talked to them again we couldn't get anywhere. We did send in payment for amount of charge only, filed complaint with Better Business Bureau before we could get anyone to listen to us. Then we were told that we would have to provide them with copies of our drivers license, passport to prove that we were who we said we were to reopen our account. Excuse me, we have done business with them for this long and they want to know who we are? We don't need them...they need customers to stay in business and we are no longer a customer.

GM has got to be one of the most brazing rip off credit credit company's in America, if you know of any worse, please WARN us.

I paid off the balance on my GM Card, but they sent me another bill in FINANCE CHARGES, after paying of the CURRENT charges for use of their credit; I could not believe it.

On my final statement, after paying off the balance of $1, 170.63, in which I haven't used the credit card in over 9 months, they have the nerve to send me another statement claiming my balance was$ 1, 220.63, billing me for an additional 15.29!

Sam's Club, Home Depot did NOT run this SCAM, and I want to place GM all over the BAD CREDITOR'S map!

GM/ HSBC must be removed from the credit world for they are making taking-billing unearned finance charges. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS!

HSBC Holdings they took our money, misapplied it, then reported us to the credit bureaus and hit us with penalties, fees, etc

We have had a mortgage with HSBC for 13 1/2 years. There are only 1 1/5 years left. We have NEVER been late on a payment. Yesterday, we received a "Notice of Intent to Foreclose" allegedly because we had not made the April and May payments. I checked with our bank and confirmed that April's payment CLEARED into the HSBC coffers. I called HSBC and, after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, HSBC admitted they received the May payment. They reported us to the credit bureaus as being in default because they claimed to have tried to call us. We have caller ID and voice mail. We showed NOT ONE CALL FROM HSBC NOR ANY VOICE MAILS. In other words, they took our money, misapplied it, then reported us to the credit bureaus and hit us with penalties, fees, etc. THIS is how HSBC operates!

HSBC Holdings unauthorized withdrawals from checking acct.

I simply visited their web site after seeing an ad. I asked for inormation and agrred to a one time fee. It turned out that I had "joined" as a member with monthly membership dues. I am now trying to ge rid of them. My bank tells me that I have to deal with them, but I've not been able to. I have called their number, but reach an automated response that I can access information about them for a certain charge, $10.95. What a run around!

HSBC Holdings they screwed up and now want me to pay

HSBC took over our GMAC account. My wife got it late and screwedup so I called in January and set up teh account in a "re-age" program so after 3 equal payments it would be "re-aged" and back to normal. They took out the funds from my bank via electronic payment. Then at the end of the 3 months they informed us that we owed 300 and sum dollars because the re-age payments where 38 dollars short for the 3 months of payments. Now they took the 3 payments directly from my account and they calcualted the payments. But now in June they acknowledge the mistake but say sorry, but you dont qualify for the re-age and you owe now late fees!.
This company is nothing but thieves stealing from anyone they can, its a perfect white caller crime/profit center.

HSBC Holdings inactivity, closed acct. now only get secured card

HSBC Bank Nevada, closed my platinum mastercard after taking there annual fee due to inactivity. Said call number to re-apply. I did and said go online. So, I did and online said they will only give me a secured mastercard after I mail them $200. check. Are they crazy? Closed my account after annual fee and want me to pay them for a credit card. Household platinum mastercard started me with a $1, 100. limit and just because I did not use with in the last 3 or 4 months they closed. First, they decreased amount of cash advance from credit limit to $275. Guess, you are bett3er off not paying off cards so they can get rich otherwise they take away.

HSBC Holdings very bad service

The service was very poor there was only one person on the desk after putting my name down to be seen, and had waited over 45 mins the women in blood was seen before me who had just walked in there, was no other person to be seen who was working there.

The hsbc bank had taken out money from my account without notifying me which put me in a difficult posistion.

I will be taking my services else where I have never seen such poor service.

HSBC Holdings long credit authorization periods

I've noticed in the past few years with HSBC Discover, they have made some policy changes to reduce your available credit without actually reducing your available credit. Case in point, when I make a purchase, say airline tickets for $600 on April 1st. The airline company authorizes $600 on my credit card. A few days later (April 3rd), the $600 purchase "post" to by account and my credit balance shows $600. With a $5000 credit line and no other charges or authorizations on my account, any normal person would expect $600 balance with $4400 available credit. This is not the case with HSBC Discover and HSBC Amex. My balance shows $600 and the Available credit shows $3800. Even though the airline has authorized the $600 and have collected the funds (ie.. "posted to my balance"), the authorization remains. I've gotten into numerous arguements with HSBC representatives that this policy makes it look like I've been double charge. They always say the same thing, "you have to contact the merchant to have the authorization removed" or "the authorization will remain for up to 14 days and then drop off". Why is just with HSBC. My other credit cards, regular DISCOVER Financial, Chase Visa, etc... don't have this policy. I've made the same purchases from the same airline using different credit cards and HSBC is the only one that holds the authorization even though the charge has posted to the account. I would close my account with them if wouldn't hurt my credit score. HSBC absolutely sucks.

This doesn't sound like a policy...more that the airline has authorised the transaction twice and only collected one of them?

HSBC Holdings telemarketing nuisance

A few weeks ago I bought some furniture through a one-year, no-payment, no-interest plan. It turned out that the finance company was part of HSBC Bank. Last week when I arrived home from work there was a missed call every day from HSBC. I finally called the number on my caller ID and received a recorded message, saying I probably called them because the number appeared on my caller ID. The recording went on to say that they hoped I got the information I needed and then disconnected.
When I was home last Saturday, my phone rang no less than seven times. One ring each time. Every call was from HSBC, according to my caller ID. I really wanted to talk to a human being to stop the annoying calls. Once again, I got a recording when I called.
Then the e-mail arrived, urging me to sign up for paperless billing on the account. There was a tab on the email that looked life the solution. "Conact us." I clicked on the tab and it took me nowhere. No opportunity for an online chat with a service rep. No way to enter an email message. No phone number to call.
Then, last night when my phone rang, the caller ID said "HSBC." I grabbed the call. There was a long pause. Then a male voice that sounded digital said, "May I speak with Delores, please." I was becoming irate. I told the caller there was no one at that number with that name. I then told him to take my number out of their system. He told me it would take 30 days. I asked him if I would continue to receive these calls for 30 days. He said he did not know but that he would enter my request to receive no more calls. Something is really messed up at HSBC! Sure doesn't make me want to do business with them ever again!

HSBC Holdings breach of contract

Hi i'm ed clarke. Thanks for giving me this facility.

My compliant is simple one of a betrayal by hsbc ('the worlds local bank') by the way of hsbc stopping all funding to a project they had agreed to fund over a period of years. By stopping the funding midway through the project, hsbc caused the successful part of the business to fail (2007). As hsbc also stopped all direct debit to suppliers court proceedings were brought by the suppliers, resulting in my bankruptcy (although this was annulled serious damage was done to my credit record). More important on closing the venue (arcbar) 5 full time staff and 10 part time workers lost there jobs.
With no further support from hsbc the building works on the rest of the project stopped further loss of work for the builders.
Since the start of the loan up to when hsbc stopped their finance all payments on the loan had been made. The works carried out on the building had increased the value of the building from £150.000 to £650, 000 (their value).

The initial loan was secured at the time (2000) by a basket of property valued at around £1.5 million. The loan was about £200.000. The type of loan was called the hsbc bank plc mortgage deed conditions (1999 edition) no further mortgage payments were made from early 2007.
Hsbc demanded that I repay all monies within 2 weeks. I requested that they release some of the assets they were holding so I could find alternative financing. I also asked hsbc to restructure the loan and reinstate my account, on refusing they restated they wanted all outstanding monies to be repaid. I informed hsbc as it was totally their fault that things had turned out this way that they should act responsible and resolve the matters and not surcharge or threaten me with further action.
The dept was standing at around £340, 000 at this time. I made it clear I would be resposible for all outstanding interest at 1% above base. And that I would start repayments as soon as possible, but at a lessor rate as the business was no longer providing any income, further as they had many times the value of the dept in assets they would always be guaranteed their money.
Finally the matter was taken over by the special situation manager of hsbc.in september 2009 I wrote to the ss manager stating that I would be in a position to start paying the dept at the original loan rate of £4500 per month and that I could pay around £50, 000 to reduce the outstanding interest.

The ss manager replied that he would put it to his credit people in london in september 2009 he wrote that the credit team had refused my offer and I would have to pay the whole sum now standing at £450, 000 within 14 days. I wrote asking he reconsider my offer, and reminded him that as hsbc had caused the problem in the beginning, and further that I disagreed with the amount of extra money they had put on the deptand that I would consider suing hsbc for breach of promise and causing the downfall of my business, there was no reply to my letter.

One of the flat held on security was near the portobello rd in notting hill gate, I had just let on a 2 year contract at a yearly rental of £25, 000 (this was intended to go towards loan repayment)
Out of the blue on the 23 october a call on my mobile saying that he had being appointed receiver and to of my properties had been taken by him by order of hsbc and that I had no longer any interested, I told him that was outragous that some one out of the blue should just phone up and tell me that stuff. He asked my address so he called send the neccessary paperwork. My tenant told me that they had asked her to leave as she was a illegal tenant.
My tenant was distraught as she had found it harder to find accommodation being a single parent family, I wrote to the ss manager of hsbc asking that his agents do not to harass the tenant as the tenant is legal, and further to stop all further receivership activities until I looked at the situation properly, also a moblie phone call does not constute service and that I beleive their legal process is flawed and not enforcable.
I also informed him that I had received no documentation from any source including solicitors acting for hsbc, he replied he would immediately ask them to contact me, but I have not had any information to date from either their solicitors or the compliants dept of hsbc.
My tenant told me that although she loved the flat the pressure from the agents of hsbc was such that she had to leave. I have now taken occupation of the flat (the flat was my former home)
I have emailed hsbc warning not to attempt to gain entrance to my flat, as forced entry is regarded as a criminal offence in uk law. Hope its the same for you in the usofa.

Anyway I have told hsbc that I intend to make my situation known to as many people as possible. As in the usa the uk the small business and homeowners have been made the scapegoat of careless world bankers like hsbc.in the uk 67% of employment (so i'm informed) is created by small businesses yet 60% have been refused loans from the banks, forcing a lot of businesses to use credit cards to survive, the same apply s to homeowners so the banks have not only let us down but some are even exploting us with high credit charges, and the biggest insult is they are paying themselves bonus at the same time as squeesing us when they caused the problem in the first place.

I have worked to hard to turn the other cheek, so lets all talk of solutions
Small savers are being ripped off their money gets little returns, so let the goverments form local banks that could take and protect those saving and the loan the money to small business and home owners at a sustainable rate, look around how many big businesses how just left for whatever reasons some even exploiting cheaper labour in poorer countries countries, no question of any consideration for the problem of the broken neighberhoods they leave behind 'it's just business as usual'

Regards and thanks for listening ed clarke

Dear Sir,
I am holding HSBC Westside credit Card, which I have used twice in my life .In the month of October 2009 I have used it for last time. In the same month I got a call from HSBC Customer care and provided me the information about TATA AIG health policy in which I was not at all interested and I refused to take after few months I am now getting calls from HSBC Customer care that my dues are Rs. 1800/- against the TATA Policy . I wonder I have not asked for any policy, not received any documents of policy, then how HSBC can charge me for that? and who gave them the rights to proivde my credit card details to Tata AIG whichout my permission. Kindly look in to the matter . and help me to resolve this query.

HSBC Holdings locked out my money for 1 year

I phoned HSBC to find out why my cash ISA is not letting me transfer funds from my personal account. So I end up talking to someone who said they would sort this out for me.

Next thing I know they have locked 3k into a Fixed Rate Saver account which I cannot access for 1 year. Then they open up a Fixed rate ISA fro 3, 600.

With the current crappy interest rates not worth me doing this. and what right does HSBC bank have in taken my money out from the instant saver account where can access at anytime.

As unemployed I am now going to struggle as my savings now locked away for 1 year. Can I do anything, no said HSBC as they say read their terms and conditions! Simply put this is theft! Don´t bank with HSBC you have been warned!

Just to add a customer services guy from HSBC phones me up saying "How is my banking going..." well guess what my reply to him was!

HSBC Holdings take your money out of hsbc while you still can

Take your money out of hsbc while you still can. I have been a loyal customer of hsbc for a long time, and until recently I was a happy customer as well. Suddenly, I have become a very unhappy customer and I am taking my money out of hsbc because of the dreadfully unfair and arbitrary actions taken by hsbc. I have been very diligently paying my bills on time and taking other steps to make sure my credit score goes up as much as possible. Suddenly my credit score dropped significantly even though all of my payments, etc. Have all been paid on time. So why did my credit score drop one might ask? The one and only negative thing that happened in any of my credit history recently is that hsbc arbitrarily decided to lower the credit limits on a large number of its credit card customers. I always paid my bills on time, never went over my credit limit, and in fact, I always kept my outstanding balance below 50% of my credit limit. Suddenly hsbc arbitrarily decided to lower the credit line on my card and thousands of others by 60%! Yes, that number is correct. They lowered my credit limit by 60%! This caused my balance to availabe credit ratio (a key factor in determining fico scores) to go from about 40% to about 97%. The 40% ratio which I worked deligently to maintain is viewed as very good in the eyes of the credit reporting agencies, and was one of the factors helping to bring up my credit rating. However, one of the worst danger warnings in the eyes of the credit agencies is a "maxed out" credit card, so this 97% ratio caused solely by the arbitrary actions of hsbc caused my credit rating to drop by about 30 points! Now let me again stress that my income and job situation has not changed, I have not had a late payment or been over my credit limit on any of my credit accounts in many years, and have not had any other activity that might negatively affect my credit rating for many years. Despite all of my deligence in maintianing my credit and despite my loyalty to hsbc and the fact that I even have my savings account with hsbc they took this unfair action which has already had a very negative impact on my credit rating. I had been saving up to buy a house this year, and now I will most likely have to pay a higher interest rate on my mortgage or wait even longer before I am able to purchase a home, all because of the indifference of hsbc toward its customers. Just as a "maxed out" credit card is a danger indicator for the credit reporting agencies, this kind of of indifference and arbitrary action towards its loyal customers is a big red flag about the financial health of hsbc! A wise person could see such acts by hsbc as a strong indication that hsbc is a bank struggling in very serious financial trouble. I for one could not be comfortable leaving my moeny in an account at a bank in serious financial trouble. I know the banks are supposed to be insured, but why take chances with bureaucratic red tape? It seems much wiser to simply take all money out of the troubled bank. Hsbc may be located in nevada, but if I am going to gamle with my money, I would rather do it at the casino and not with my bank accounts.

I had a vehicle financed with hsbc and credit cards for several years, and not had problems until recently, as we consistently over-pay our accounts. I did'nt understand what was going on when the billings stopped..come to find out HSBC sold the note on our vehicle to Santander Consumer..whom we have never heard of..all of a sudden we get a collection letter from santander a demand for payment with no explanation...after checking things out we learned that HSBC sold the note back in March but...no one bothered to let us know anything...This was/Is pretty chicken-### of HSBC and Santander not to reveal this information to us. and only to send us a collection letter which we had to figure out on our own... so watch out for santander as well, they appear to be incompetent.

For five years I held a Savings and a Payment Checking Account at HSBC Online. I kept most of my money on the Savings and programmed several of my bills to be charge to the Payment Acct. Since the transfer of funds between those accounts is immediate, I used to command my transfers one day before the bills due date. Everything worked fine until last month. The transfer I schedule (2, 2K) was not performed, for some reason. When the charges (3) hit the Payment account the funds were not there. HSBC "kindly" paid the bills and assessed a $105 "Insufficient funds fee". I immediately called Customer Service, and after a long explanation they agreed to remove $70 dollars from that fee. I did not accepted that solution, I am absolutely sure I ordered the transaction, as I did every month for five year, and did not receive any error messages at that time. I start wondering if they do not deliberately create those "failed" transfer to rip customers off. So, I am closing all my accounts with HSBC and will engage in the almost impossible task of finding a fair financial institution. Beware if you hold accounts at HSBC. Check your account/balance online daily. If you have to make transfer between accounts, do it one extra day in advance, so you can go online and confirm the transfer was executed before the bills hit the account. Actually those advices should be observed for all banks, I think. They are out there to get us!

HSBC 'offers' a Passport Account if you are new to a country, without a local credit history. This is advertised world wide. What isn't advertised is that you are locked into a 12 month contract, and in the UK, this also results in a £8 a month fee for 'allowing' you to have a bank account. Having lived in 7 countries around the world, my perception is that the UK has to have one of the worst banking systems, and HSBC, as a world wide recognized bank, should not be allowed to fleece newly arrived individuals in this way, especially if a good credit rating and employment is guaranteed. One of the worst decisions I have had to make; I will never bank with HSBC again.

How long can the credit card and banking systems be allowed to continue to financially rape its constituents? Is the system setup to make sure you fail? Are the credit card and banking systems owned by some secret legal mafia group?

I cannot believe that HSBC has raised my APR rate to 31.99%. I make my regular online monthly payments. A few times have been late a couple of days. I spoke with one of the representatives of HSBC who informed me that they were unable to change the rate as the computer software system does not allow them to do so. They only have viewing rights and that the credit division would send me a letter telling me why I received the rate which is not what I asked for. I am pursuing this as it is ridiculous.

Sir

A sum of Rs.10, 658 was debited to my Credit Card by HSBC bank without my consent. I have also not signed any document for this. When enquired I was told by the bank, that based on my voice message with a third party (TATA-AIG insurance Co) they have debited my card account. I have not given my consent to any body.

I want to one thing. "Can a bank (HSBC) debit a card holders account based on the voice message of the card holder with a third party (TATA AIG), without the consent of the card holder". Is this allowed as per the banking rule ? Can I lodge a formal complaint with Reserve Bank of India ?

Kindly advise

Thanking you

With ward regards
K.P. Suresh

In sept. 2017 HSBC granted an illegal alien (in Utah) a credit card. This person used my stolen social security number to obtain credit. I have a fraud alert with all 3 credit bureaus, HSBC was notified of the alert but ignored it and granted the illegal (mexican) the card anyway. (I've never been to Utah?)
Two months later (in Nov. 2017), the illegal woman used my Social Security Number again (with HSBC) and was granted another credit card after HSBC again ignored the fraud alert on the credit report.
Although I had HSBC stop the second card from being used, the first card has a $2, 000.00 balance on it.
HSBC refuses to contact the authorities (they have the illegal woman's name & address) and they refuse to send me a fraud investigation report that they would need to validate my claim of fraud.
They've lied to me and refuse to connect me to the proper supervisor...they ALWAYS hang up the phone when I insist on speaking to a department supervisor.

I financed an 06' Suzuki GSX-R through them because no one else would finance me (I was only 18). I had a low interest rate for a while, but I guess the "promotional rate" ended and they jacked my interest up to 26.99%. The minimum payment is $200.00/mo and it barely puts a dent in the principal balance. If you're even a day late, they will call you every few hours until they get you on the phone and they are - in my opinion - not nice about it. They also charge you $15.00 to do a check by phone and $12.00 to make a rush payment.

I also had a credit card with them when I was younger. They reduced my limit to $300 and also raised my interest to the familiar 26.99%. I don't know what they're problem is over there, but they are such a rip-off.

I wish I would have never financed anything with HSBC.

I request that my credit card account be closed and I paid my final bill. I am looking at my credit status and your company is putting false information on my report, stating closed at your request. I am respectfully asking that you change the status immediately or I shall take action.

I personally went to the HSBC branch in bank street, Bur Dubai to make a telegraphic transfer to my father's account who is in Mauritius, as I could not use my phonebanking PIN to make the transfer over the phone as the pin issued to me was invalid, and none of the agents could explain to me why-when i phoned 8004722.

When i made the transfer of DHS 11, 000 on the 30 June 08, i went back on the 02 July 08 as i realized that the swift code i wrote on the transfer was incorrect. So i spoke to the agent to double check if the money went through and he clearly stated that it did not go through and that i would have to make a second telegraphic transfer. I clearly told him to cancel the first transaction and ensure that the money is not transferred and he assured me that the transaction was not valid. So i made a second telegraphic transfer of DHS 11, 000 with the correct swift code.

On the 03 july 08 i receive an sms stating that the telegraphic transfer is successful and DHS 11, 130 was debited from my account... which i thought was the second one i made! However, on the 05July, i received another sms stating that DHS 11, 130 has been debited again and my account is below the threshold limit. I was furious and went back to the HSBC branch. I had been charged DHS130 as the second bank charge and more money was charged by my father's bank (HSBC Mauritius) as receiving fees. When i asked them what the problem was, they could not give me a clear reason and simply told me that they would call me back in 3working days. I have asked my father's bank to reverse the transaction and i want the bank charges that have been debited the second time, to be refunded to me! This shows a lack of care and competence on behalf of the agents and i am still waiting for the call.

HSBC Holdings do this, I did, an its worked with crooked hsbc

Ok everyone haveing trouble with hsbc..

First if you bank online with them by letting them take your payments out of your bank acc.'s goto there site an remove your bank acc #'s.
2. take your number off there site phone numbers. stops the calls.
3. get everything from them in writeing sent to your home, not online. get it on paper.
4. refuse to pay late fee's, if you don't think you owe them.
5. if theres charges on your card that you know you did not make, call them tell them an tell them you want a letter sent to you [not online] on paper stateing you filed the complaint about charges made on your card that wasn't yours. keep all this.
6. tell them until its corrected on your statement, that no payments will be made an you will not make anylate fee payments.
7. demand, don't ask, deman it all in writeing sent to you on paper, see if they send it online they say it got messedup being sent an that a spammer sent it not them,,, so get it in writeing on there letter head sent to your hands on paper.
8. you do not have to pay late fee's or over charge fee's if you did not make that charge an your waiting for them to remove it, before you pay.
9. if the charges keep showing up month after month even after you have told them about it, report your card lost, gets you a new card an number, dont report it stolden, that requires a police report. then after you get thenew card an it happens again, its there fault an they have to cover it allll.
10. contact me anytime, im still fighting them I havent paid them a dime since oct. 2009, an they don't call me, or send me letters, the letters I return unopened. I have failed a suit on them for allowing this co. something dental white an others name this co. uses, an hsbc lets them keep chargeing over an over, so I told hsbc since they let them charge on my card even my new card[reported the first lost] an the new card they still let them charge, so I told hsbc you pay it, im not... im trey
