We rented Enchanted Mountain Escape from Haven Vacation Rentals (HVR) for a stay on July 21-26 of 2025. We paid $3100. We arrived at 4:00 PM and noted the thermostat read 79° but also noted that it was set for 68°. We figured it would adjust to the more comfortable setting once occupied. At 8:12 PM contacted HVR, via email and phone. Via email, they requested that I check all the vents, the thermostat settings, doors and windows, and confirm that the HVAC breaker was in the ON position. They then requested that I take photographs of the thermostats. The next day the sent an AC tech and repaired the 1st floor AC unit, but not the AC for the 2nd floor. The thermostat downstairs read 83°. Upstairs was just as hotter. I explained to HVR that the upstairs would be too hot for people to sleep. I asked if they could provide hotel accommodations for the 7 people staying upstairs. They said they would order us an air mattress. On day 2, HVR notified me that they would NOT be able to have the upstairs AC unit repaired for our stay. I explained that another solution needed to be found. The temperature upstairs was unhealthy and unsafe and there were not enough beds or space for 7 more downstairs. They said they were “urgently looking into the fastest way to make the space safe and comfortable - whether that means bringing in portable AC units, additional air mattresses, or another solution.” A portable AC unit and a window unit were later left on the porch. No tech to install the units and only 2 windows upstairs opened. We installed them as best we could. All 7 people sleeping upstairs left early because it was uncomfortable, miserable, and unhealthy! The movie room, foosball table, pool table, and larger commons room upstairs went unused due to the need to gather downstairs. The heat index reached into the 100s and HVR provided inadequate solutions! After check out they sent an unsolicited refund of $264, 8% of $3100 payment when 50% of the property was uninhabitable.

Claimed loss: 50% of the property was uninhabitable during our stay. We should have been refunded 50% of the rental costs!

Desired outcome: 50% of the property was uninhabitable during our stay. We should have been refunded 50% of the rental costs!
