I have a HD bike for several years and back in 2004 I sold my 1995 1200 sporty and decided to buy a Fatboy. Well I really n liked the bike and the way it handled and the ride was great! Several years later I started to hear about issue with the motor and checked into it. Looks like Harley Davidson new they had defective parts on there bikes and did nothing about it. The twin cam 88 from [protected] biggest issue is junk chain cam tensioners. You spend $16,000 on a bike and won't get 30,000 miles on it before you have to fix a problem that Harley Davidson should have done a recall on to fix and not put the cost on the buyer! I supported Harley for alot of years and bought slot of there merchandise but no more! I fell like every twin cam owner got screwed! I have put my fat boy in storage with 10,000 miles on it and will sell sometime in the future. I have gone back to reliable metric bikes again and have no interest in anything HD anymore!
Recommendation: If you have a twin cam from 1996-2006 beware of cam chain tensioners!!!
