My son and I joined the Gym several months back and was told I could cancel at any stage after 3 months, without penalties. Tried this and they lie.
All my attempts to cancel our membership is ignored and they even still tried to debit my account which I had to block at the Bank. Since then, they keep threatening me with Black listing my name and keep sending me emails calling it an Amnesty Offer to rejoin to avoid black listing. Almost everyday, they send me these messages. Today's came from Busisiwe Buthelezi who claims to be the service manager and even in her email, says to avoid the sales staff at the entrance and to come to her directly to sign me up again. How ridiculous?
Stay away from them, is my opinion!
Recommendation: Definately not. Just look at the carious platforms at all the complaints and even mine on HelloPeter, which also got ignored by them.
I have a reason to believe that Gym Company is indeed behaving unethically by neglecting cancellations altogether and employing certain coercion techniques. Remember to keep all your interactions with them and any threats as evidence. If they persist it would be wise to inform them to your citizenship center, and maybe even find a lawyer who could help you deal with such threats. Freezing their debits at the bank was a great idea - allow them to walk over you to combine.
