My name is orita waller, on the 29th, I bought a green dot card from family dollar. I loaded $41.00 on the card. My cell phone was disconnected, so I use my son's telephone to activate the card. Although, I used my sons telephone, I used my name to activate the card. I used my name, current address. It allowed me to access funds at that time, sp. I paid 15.00 towards my cell phone service to get my phone activated, and it worked.
However, the next day when I went to the store, I got to the register and was very embarrassed because it declined my purchase.
When I got home, I checked the balance and it said there was a block on my card. When, I finally talked to someone they said, that is not your card but your son's card. I told them that they were wrong because my son didn't activate the card, I did. Than they told me to send in my drivers license picture of the front and back. I did this several times before they could read it. After they got my i. D. I spoke to an agent who told me they had taken out 9.95 for monthly charges, and I said, you better put my money back, I just bought the card, it hasn't been a month. She did agree that they weren't suppose take out a monthly charge yet. However, she said, you didn't activate this card, your son did. I said, I used my social security number, not my son's. What I believe the problem is, is that the computer had a glitch in it or whatever. They made me wake up my son who works 3rd shift, to ask him his ss # and did he activate the card. He told them no, and he gave all his information. They did not believe him or me, because both my son and I have several green dot cards. And, we moved at least twice since we begin to activate the cards. They told my son to send his i. D.In. He did, but they said they can't read it. Okay, I am disabled and receiving disability, and we don't have money like that. So, regardless of how many times he sends his in, and how clear or big he makes it, they still say they can't read it.
Now, I feel that I should not have to go to staples or somewhere to pay money out to make copies. They just will not believe us and I feel that they are being prejudice. Ii is my money and I want it, but I feel that if we were a different color we would have had to go through all of this. The representative pretty much came out and said, that she didn't believe me. Why??? Why are you putting me through all of this yo get my money. This will be the last damn time my son and I use green dot again. When I tell people what is going on they are astonished. I truly believe this is a prejudice issue. I can never get a supervisor, and everyone there is foreign, and half the time I can't understand what they are saying.

I have been trying for 5 days to reset my password to my online account. I have called the CS number on the back of my card 3 times. The first time, 10/12/2016, I was told it would take up to one day for the reset email to send but I received the forgot user name in less than 30 seconds. 2nd time I called on 10/13/2016, they said that my issue was being escalated and it should be fixed by the end of day. I have made my 3rd call today, 10/14/2016. The escalation ticket was closed, I have not received any emails from them. I was told over and over to contact Yahoo to see if they 'blocked' their emails. I told them that I am getting the user email and all the sales emails but the person was insisting that it is my problem now. I am at my wits end, I have money on that card and need it to pay my PayPal account...

I had a merchant place a large charge on my card in error. The merchant sent a email & fax to green dot explaining the error. However, green dot placed the charge as "pending" taking away from available funds and refuse to remove the hold. To make matter worst, I spoke with a representative over the phone. She told me there was nothing they can do, "it the charge was from a rental car company they could remove the"pending"transaction" now this is crazy, because you can not use green dot at rental car companies. I asked the rep to transfer me to a manager or someone in a higher position, at which time the rep hung-up the phone in my face. Note, I never spoke or used any profanity to the rep, nor did I speak badly toward the rep. No one should ever experience customer service in this manner. I am simple trying to use "my money" to pay bills and eat. I can not wait 10-days to eat. Avoid this company!
I never received my real card from this company, yet my address was & still is listed as being correct on their website. I greet my mailman everyday, and I'm questioning the fact that they claim it was return to them as a wrong address. I don't think they ever even sent it to me! I called to ask why, and the 1st time I got frustrated & hung-up & called them back after having been left on hold for over 2 hours! As I write this I'm still on hold this 2nd time, and it's been well over 2 hours again! The message keeps telling me that they're experiencing a high volume of calls & that they appreciate my patience, which ran out about 3 hours ago! I suspect this is a case of blatant fraud! If it's not, it should be! If we never get our real card we can't use an ATM, which is more profitable for their company. I think they're crooks! All I can do is buy things, but I can't ever get my cash easily back at an ATM, and I suspect this is by their willful design to force me to keep incurring fees for using their card, and allows them time to play with my balance! I will be cutting up my card after today & filing a complaint with my Attorney General's office for suspicion of wrong doing. Obviously it would be very hard for an individual such as myself to prove that they're doing all this on purpose, but from what many others have told me, including my own experience with them, I strongly suspect that they've been doing this as a common business practice, which is not what I agreed to and it should be illegal to do to people if it's intentional. No one should be made to wait for 4 hours on hold! This reminds me of the S&L bailout back in the 1980's & people were made to wait days on hold, never to get to speak to anyone! I strongly suggest people avoid using their services as I am very displeased with them myself, and would like to see others avoid such aggravating annoyances such as this. Some really needs to file a class action lawsuit against them in my opinion! I would be the 1st person to sign onto it! I'm going to see if I can make a live feed to YouTube just to show others just how bad their service really is!
They are definitely 100% lying. We have over 600 people in our group currently so the "less than 100 people" is total bs. Problems because of this issue: children not getting medication, people facing eviction because they can't pay their rent, people facing losing their jobs because they can't get money for gas, people having utilities shut off because the bill payment declines, people going without food trying to find local food banks, and the list goes on and on. This is so unacceptable. The company needs to tell the truth about what is going on. Two have even mentioned that now their social security numbers have been changed on their cards! This is more than a "system upgrade" gone wrong... Our personal information is now compromised totally. I will never recommend or use this card company again. Green dot's stock has already dropped by 1% and it's only going to get worse as people step forward with their stories. Currently there are attorney's helping us to get class action lawsuits against green dot and possibly wal-mart. The fact that people have been unable to access their money since as early as sunday night added to the fact that balance information is wrong, transactions are being up to triple charged, dates are being changed on transactions, and personal information is compromised is more than enough information to push these people out of business!
Deposited $270 at walgreen's drug store on march2, 2016. Came home and activated the card number [protected]. I was immediately unable to enter my account and attempting to use my card a few days later, was told there was only $19 left in the account. I then e-mailed greendot about the problem. They requested a copy of the receipt for the initial deposit, which I sent immediately. After being given a claim #sf1527097 and reference #0152 8998, I was told that the card was already activated prior to my deposit and they would investigate, and call me the next day. After not hearing from them for a week, I called their escalation dept.-cash services and was told that there might be an issue with identity theft or someone obtaining my information and that they were not responsible and they could not return my $270. I am filing a police report and no other information or money has been taken. I am 70 years old and I live alone in a very remote area and no one else had access to this information, and I still have the card. I feel the responsibility for this theft is with greendot, as the money was deposited with them in good faith and the money was taken after they had received it. It's like depositing my money in a bank and then the bank gets robbed and I cannot get my money back. Isn't it the responsibility of the bank to properly care for the money deposited with them? Green dot (I) facilitated the theft of money to be stolen from my account, (Ii) made it near impossible for me to contact someone at green dot to take care of this problem, (Iii) dragged its heals to take care of the problem, and (Iv) when questioned about it, threatened me because I had the audacity to complain about green dot and go bank's practices that allowed a criminal offense to occur under its watch. Then after apologizing to me and swearing that it provided me with a phone number that I can pass onto law enforcement to investigate this matter, it turned out they provided me with a phony number. This means that green dot is letting its criminal customer go free without any accountability.
Go bank facilitating money to be stolen from my account
On november 29, 2015, I wrote a check to my property management company in the amount of $355 that I sent to my property management company's designated po box via the mail. On december 3, 2015, someone used their go bank account under the name of danielle or lanell freeman to cash the check. This individual was not authorized to cash this check on behalf of my property management company.
On january 7, 2016, I discovered the check was fraudulently cashed. My property management company sent me a statement showing me delinquent on my hoa dues because they said I had not made my december payment, and they charged me a late fee. On january 7, they explained that they charged me a late fee because they claim to not have received the december payment.
When I discovered that the check was fraudulently cashed on january 7, I reported it to my bank, bank of america. Bofa informed me that go bank allowed an unauthorized person to cash the check. Bofa then submitted a request to go bank that day to respond to this issue to refund my money. It is indisputable that my money would not have been stolen if go bank's processes were not such to allow it to get stolen.
Green dot and go bank's processes make it near impossible to speak to a representative
When I found out on january 7 that go bank fraudulently cashed my check, I immediately tried contacting go bank. However, I discovered that when someone calls their number, the automated system hangs up on you if you do not have an account with go bank. Then the next week, I learned from bank of america that go bank had not responded to bofa's request. So, I found that green dot was the parent company of go bank and tried calling green dot. Again, upon calling green dot, I discovered that if you call green dot, its automated system hangs up on you if you do not have a green dot account.
So, I typed in an e-mail to gobank's online feedback form on january 13, and I clicked on the "angry" emoji. On january 15, I received a call from agnus, employee #0517. Agnus said she could not help me and could not provide me with any information. She refused to connect me to a supervisor and refused to provide me with a phone number that I could use to follow up with go bank. She did promise me a call back from someone within 24 hours. Unsurprisingly, that phone call never came.
On january 21, bank of america contacted me to update me that go bank had still not responded to its requests for information about this incident. I am appalled that green dot and go bank showed a lack of urgency to handle this serious issue, and has set up its processes, seemingly intentionally, to make it impossible for someone to reach out to green dot or go bank to address this issue.
Green dot's poor service and threats to me for seeking to resolve this matter
Since I was threatened with late fees from my hoa board, and because green dot and go bank were seemingly not going to do anything to return my money without my escalation, I felt I had no other choice but to go directly to green dot's corporate headquarters in pasadena to speak with a supervisor. When I arrived, I calmly asked the individual at the downstairs security desk to speak with a supervisor. I then calmly waited on the couch downstairs for a supervisor for over an hour.
I was finally received by henry roberson who represented himself as a supervisor. He took me aside and told me that he really should be calling the police on me for just showing up! So, let me get this straight. Green dot (I) sets up a system where it is impossible to speak to a representative by phone, (Ii) when a representative does call you in response to an e-mail that representative is completely unhelpful and promise you a phone call from a supervisor that never comes, (Iii) when confronted by someone who was the victim of go bank facilitating a transaction where that individual's money was stolen, it threatens to call the police on that individual? In what world is that conduct okay? Though, as I told mr. Roberson, I am happy to get the police involved and compare what I did to what green dot and go bank has done, and let them decide what action to take. That is because I did nothing wrong; green dot and go bank, however, did aid in the occurrence of a serious criminal offense.
Mr. Roberson then put me in touch with bernie in green dot's corporate resolution department. Bernie told me that although bofa sent the request to go bank on january 7, go bank did nothing to facilitate my request until january 21. Bernie said that it just so happened that go bank received the request from bofa on the very day that I walked into green dot's offices. This raises the question, if I had not taken the initiative, and risk being called the cops on to show up at green dot's office, how long would it have taken for green dot to even initiate the investigation? Weeks? Months? Then bernie told me that it would take 2-3 more weeks before its investigation is complete, after it waited 2 weeks to even start the investigation. A 4-5 week timeline is inexcusable to respond to an urgent matter such as this.
Bernie then said that I could call him for updates about this case, and he promised that he would cal me with an update on january 22. That call never came. I then called him and spoke with him on january 25. He told me there was no update. I then tried calling him a week later on february 1, and left a message. He did not return my call. I called on february 2; and he did not return my call.
I called on february 3, and I spoke with an individual named joseph. He said bernie was not there. I asked to speak to bernie's supervisor. Joseph said he was bernie's supervisor. When I told him I wanted information and this to be escalated, he then got mad at me for calling. He refused to provide me any substantive update about my case, and refused to provide me the phone number for the office of the president. He said I should not be calling go bank because bofa provided me a provisional credit, suggested that go bank did nothing wrong, and then tried blaming this incident on bank of america. I explained that the credit is "provisional," meaning that bofa can yank it at any time if go bank does not provide the money back - which up to this point, green dot/go bank has shown no willingness to do. Joseph then threatened to block my calls if I tried calling again. Again - whenever I question green dot's practices, green dot's response is to skirt responsibility and threaten and bully the victim.
I then called back and spoke with cortez morris. He then told me that there was no update in my case. He also refused to give me the phone number of the office of the president, and specifically told me that the ceo of green dot would not be interested in hearing my complaint. Again, this reflects a lack of accountability on the part of green dot and an intentional decision to block the ceo/office of the president from any interface with individuals who are victims of green dot's lax and shady security practices. Though cortez was right; I did e-mail the ceo, steven streit, and he ignored my e-mail, showing that the evasive practices of green dot flows from the top on down.
Then the next week, green dot "changed" its corporate resolution number without telling me making it impossible to reach them. Only after I e-mailed cortez did bernie call me back telling me that green dot was going to return the money to my account, he was not going to provide any information to me about how it was stolen, and he refused to direct me to his supervisor. Just to be clear, I did not receive my money that go bank allowed to be stolen from my account until february 11 - 5 weeks after bank of america submitted my claim to go bank requesting my money back.
Green dot continued to deceive me including by providing a phony number to pass to law enforcement
I only spoke with a supervisor after I sent a message to green dot's public relations e-mail address. Elizabeth wayford, who represented herself as the district manager of customer relations, called me professing that she was extremely sorry about how green dot treated me. She did tell me that this was allowed to happen because green dot only has advanced fraud security checks for high-value transactions, and apparently green dot does not consider a $355 check to be a high value transaction. So green dot just let a criminal steal $355 from my account without properly checking whether that individual was authorized to receive that money. She also told me that green dot constantly changes its corporate resolution phone numbers, which I have never heard a respectable company do before. This appears to me to be a deliberate attempt to evade accountability. But she did provide me a phone number to pass onto law enforcement that she assured me that law enforcement can contact to obtain the information it needs to complete its investigation of who stole my money, since green dot refused to provide that information to me.
It turns out that was a lie. On february 17, in preparation for a call that I was going to have with law enforcement, I tried calling the number that elizabeth provided me to make sure it was a working number. I was not able to get through. So it appears that once again, green dot has evaded accountability by making it impossible to reach green dot. But what is more serious is that this time, green dot appears to be dodging law enforcement by giving me a phony phone number. So rather than give me a working phone number, green dot prefers to apparently harbor its criminal customers by making it impossible for law enforcement to contact green dot.
Overall, green dot engages in disgusting behavior. Green dot allowed my money to be stolen, has taken up countless hours of my time, threatened me, lied to me, and now is taking evasive action to prevent me from getting justice. People should avoid green dot, and its subsidiaries such as go bank. But people should be vigilant in watching out for green dot's shady practices even if they do not choose to do business with green dot. Because as you can see from my experiences, even if you do not initiate a business relationship with green dot, they may still find a way to try and wreck your life.
I have opened the account through Green Dot Corporation. Recently, these guys blocked my access to the account and I provided them all confirmation details and copy of ID, but they didn’t provide access to my account. I have large sum on this account and I am so angry that I couldn’t reach this money. I have no idea how I can get the access and what this company wants from me. Maybe someone has faced the same problems.
I had the student credit and couple of months ago I called to Green Dot Corporation. I wanted to know if they got my payments for the credit. The lady said that they were declined and I would need to contact another department in order to find out where my order was. I spoke with three different people and these guys couldn’t find my money.
I am worried, because I don’t have spare money and need to live on something.
This is the worst company. Do not use their services. They approved 260 transactions on my card within 6 days. One day was 88 transactions for the same amount to the same company. Nobody thought this was suspicious. They continued to approve until they wiped the account clean plus added $275 negative balance. A prepaid card with a negative balance, doesn't sound right does it? Because of this, my son and i, both handicapped were evicted with 24 hrs notice for nonpayment. I had no time to pack, no truck to move and no money and nowhere to go. My son takes the bus and he was already panic. We got a weekly down the street with the help of my daughter that works fast food. I had to leave new furniture (Bedroom, kitchen, leather sofa, loveseat) all my belongings, even heirlooms. They don't care. So now we are in the weekly, after 2 weeks of strangers on go fund, and my daughter helping, my disability goes in and $300 is gone because of their approvals. I have 4 weeks of paying 345 a week and paying my daughter. I don't get enough. I went through their process to dispute, all paperwork, my eviction notice, etc. I also had 2 seizures during all the chaos, now new medical bills. I waited 14 days and called at 3am because otherwise u get hung up. The customer service is the absolute worst, nobody can do worse. The lady said they got my papers but nobody filled out a claim. She did and called me 3 other times because even she couldn't believe the amount. 989.80. Plus they need to give me back that $275 and then they charged me for a new card. So, now I had to wait another 10 days which will be tomorrow. I filed complaints with better business, consumer reports, which published it, cardhub, and a few more. I will continue. If my money isn't inthere, i'm going to court and then I go after my medical bills, the $4000 my apartment is charging me, my attorney fees, suffering and loss of everything I and my son owned. Plus the 345 a week rent since january. I've contacted a friend in the state senate and the tv ststions. We are in limbo until I find out, then it gets ugly. Please tell everyone you know to tell everyone. Horrible company and it appears from all the complaints that this is a normal practice for them
I called to inquire about my Wal-Mart Money Card that is owned by Green Dot. I got someone in a totally different country that had no understanding of what I was asking in regards to computer format of bank statement that is not in order. The representative had no clue as to what I was asking and she deactivated my card with every dollar to my name accidentally. She stated that my card was compromised and I have been with no funds for 4 days. I have called at least 20 times and all the can say is the representative will be reprimanded, I will get a new card and can't get my money for 2 weeks. I need my money I set 1 check a month to live off of. I had 110.63 on my card before it was accidentally cut off and they said they can not reactivate my card sooner than 2 weeks, but they took $3 off my card yesterday for monthly service fee, but I can not get my money for 2 weeks. I am fed up! I asked for legal department and they said they do not have one. I asked for supervisor and they said they do not have one. This is a BIG INCONVENIENCE!!! I just called before I posted this and talked to a representative and she did not ask to transfer me and she transferred me to the SURVEY LINE!!!

I bought a greendot card at dollar general in Kent Ohio I went to register it and the site said the card was already registered so I lost the money I deposited. After spending hours on the phone with customer assistance they said there was nothing they could do to help me. I went to the police department and they forwarded my complaint to the fraud department. After speaking with the police officer they still will not help me.
I added more money to my card, and it's said pending for a long time now on the transaction info. Not sure if...
I filed a complaint earlier this month for charges that appeared on my green dot debt visa card that I did not authorize. I was credited for 3 of the charges, but there were a total of 5 charges. The unauthorized charges are as follows

Added money to my Green Dot debit card based on the option to add money via Green Dot on the Pay Pal page. Tried to do it including calling Green Dot which promptly says it's now part of Pay Pal. Called Pay Pal who says they no longer accept money for payments via the Green Dot Money Card or Debit Card. I wasted the money I added to the card plus the $4.95 charge. Pay Pal now only accepts money from their Pay Pal Money Card. Thing is even though they have a list of who carries the Pay Pal Cards I couldn't find it in three different stores I went to today. Bottom Line; AVOID AT ALL COSTS USING GREEN DOT MONEY PACK OR THEIR DEBIT CARDS. Also it looks like in reviewing sites that Pay Pal is somehow intricately involved with Green Dot as the are now advertising their Green Dot at the Register as a way to add Pay Pal money to your account.
I suppose to receive a refund $ 2, 224.75 refund check from greendot, a month past already I receive only $ 709.90, so I have a refund balance $ 1, 514.85 left behind.
I spoke to greendot costumer service last month she said: I will receive the balance in one month until now I don't receive nothing yet. So, I need my money cause i've emergency.
I have purchased 5 cars at three different 7-Eleven Stores, since they have a limit.
Only 3 cards had money loaded.

Filled up all forms possible, requested refund, have all reference numbers and nobody contacted me back about the injury.
When I've tried calling the same number I've called before - WRONG NUMBER.
I called the local police office and they gave me the Cyber Crime web site. I filled up the claim on that web sire TWICE - nothing.
I called the police again and they suggested to go to the court with a lawsuit agains 7-eleven.
Have no idea what's next. DO NOT PURCHASE GREEN DOT MONEY PACK EVER !!!
