Rocket Money Don’t use negotiation service - they will charge you for actually increasing your cable cost

I like the app layout and features BUT do not use the negotiable service. Rocket has charged me $130 for a supposed decrease in my annual cost of my cable/Internet service but my cable provider says the reduction was due to cancelling Netflix. I’ve emailed several times with Rocket and initially they were responsive - but kept claiming the negotiation had not even started yet. I sent th their own emails to me detailing the results and they claimed “oh, it just started while we were corresponding with you” which clearly was not the case. Worse, they charged me $130 for the “benefit” of having my Netflix subscription through my cable company apparently cancelled. I sent Rocket the notice from my cable co re the cancellation but hear nothing from Rocket. I am now out $132, several hours of trying to figure out what happened and fix it and Rocket has now stopped responding. This does not seem to be a legitimate service which makes me concerned about the entire app since it has financial information.

Update - I’ve updated my review to recognize that after a very frustrating lack of communication the company did make things right. As noted I decided to try the reduce bill feature but the company also reduced the service I was receiving and then took 1/2 of the “savings”. The company initially failed to reply to any means of communication- but after days of this did finally respond, acknowledged that my service had been improperly reduced, got the service back to its original status and refunded all of the money they claimed.

So, I would not recommend the bill reduction service but almost everything about the app is fantastic. Very clear and good design. The one issue - and it’s not the app’s fault, is that the interface used to connect with banks and credit cards only allows connection through one site for Citibank cards but not all Citibank accounts are accessed through the provided site.

Rocket Money Beware of non-transparent subscription charges!

I’m not surprised at most of the reviews for this app are five stars. It has great features and a nice interface. Knowing this, I even willingly signed up for yet another subscription with rocket money even though I specifically downloaded the app to reduce my subscriptions. It has a nice “name your price”feature - the minimum price you can pay a month being four dollars. I think it actually might let you do zero (the continue button just turns red) but I respected the developers (foolishly) and committed to the $4. I’m sure it was in the fine print. I’m sure it was there somewhere. But opening my bank and seeing a $48 charge when I downloaded the app in the first place to help with my struggling finances is completely horrible. It probably technically said that they would bill me for an entire year upfront somewhere in the fine print. But just because they could get away with that doesn’t mean that they should. Of all people, they should be as transparent as possible with their subscription for charges. It feels predatory, immoral, and dishonest. It’s been a really long time since I’ve felt completely tricked by a company like this. Regular people don’t read the terms and conditions. Should they? Of course. But that’s just completely unrealistic and they knew that. They also knew that the kinds of people who download this app are the kind of people who don’t check their bank charges all the time and have a hard time managing their subscriptions. I’m sure there are a lot of people who can’t imagine how $48 could be devastating. But obviously I am trying to budget. That’s the entire reason that I downloaded the app. And $48 was absolutely not in the budget. $48 means the difference between rent and homelessness for much of the US. Living in the US feels like constantly dodging huge companies that desperately try to capitalize on our needs and shortcomings. I guess this is just another one of those.

Rocket Money Quirks but Helpful!

I’m the type of person that needs to be able to see what bills are coming within the current pay period and the next. This app helps me to figure out what’s coming and what’s already been paid. I appreciate the instant savings feature as well. Truebill auto withdraws a certain amount and deposits it in to a savings account, so I don’t even have to think about it.

Here’s the downfall of my experience however:
-TrueBill says that they use a smart algorithm to figure out if you have enough money in your account to cover your bills before withdrawing money for savings. My experience though has been that if I’m running short on money for the month and I have $8 to cover a $6 subscription bill and then a $2 cushion before my next paycheck hits….Truebill will take like $4 for savings and then I don’t even have enough for that $6 bill. I wish they would not withdrawal savings within 72 hours of your next paycheck hitting to help avoid this issue.

- My other issue is that the entire point of the app is to have it auto-sync to your bank account so you know exactly how much money you have to budget. My Truebill app loses connection with my bank daily and then I have to go in and fix it. It’s annoying because it won’t pull for my savings when it does this and I don’t reap any of the benefits of the app without it syncing. I went 10 days without noticing that I wasn’t getting notifications due to this. I have ADHD and issues with Object Permanence, so if the app isn’t synced and giving notifications…it pretty much doesn’t exist to me. This wouldn’t be too much of an issue if it was 100% free, but it’s not. I pay for the app, so it needs to work without me having to babysit it.

Overall, I would recommend the app due to it’s format, bill and subscription cancellation features BUT if it continues to have an issue syncing, I’ll be requesting a refund for what I’ve paid and will be moving on to another budgeting app.

Rocket Money This app lost me $200 & likely more

1) Super excited by app until it asks me if I want it to reduce my bills & stop subscriptions. I naively say yes.

2) They said they cancelled my NYTimes Subscription 6 days ago; I got billed for this today.

3) Their ‘reducing’ of my car insurance opens up an ‘in app’ experience with Gabi. They Gabi’s API call triggers my own car insurance company that I have already - and my insurance company revisits my insurance & raises it by $10/mo. Gabi says this is still the lowest price. There’s a $120/year. I called Geico - they won’t change it back.

4) They ping (the same way as above) my cell service to reduce that. Next thing you know I get, in my inbox, a new Terms of Service agreement with cell service. And they want to take away my discounts.

5) TrueBill keeps asking for my pin for my cell company. No, no, no - don’t ever give that out. That opens loopholes for huge security issues & an attack. I ask them to stop, they keep asking for it.

6) I reach out to their help people. They respond only every 24 hours to your issue. They are not technical nor understand app. It’s clear they don’t use it.

7) I get a guy on chat & ask for him to email me. Nope, can’t do that. Call? Nope, not that either. They literally have a bot, an FAQ doc & no other support. This is your financial data. So wrong. Maybe illegal.

8) I have screenshots of ALL of above. Increase in car insurance, cell & watch services, the NYTimes bill, and ‘support’ person saying they don’t ‘really have support’ and cannot email or text or call us.

9) This company is the devil & their software front-end is slick - their backend is a f*cking disaster. It’s clear they are woo’ing investors with front-end v the real deal. If I had invested I’d be very, very worried now.

10) Stay away from this app. It’ll charge you $ for it, lie to you about what their app does, and then let it take your $$. False advertising & outright lies will catch up with these guys hopefully sooner vs later.

Rocket Money My most recommended app

I really want to thank the creators and developers of this app for helping me achieve both my short- and long-term financial goals, which is something that felt out of my grasp for a long time.

Since I downloaded Rocket Money, it truly has been a journey of coming face-to-face with my relationship with money and spending, confronting bad habits and changing them. It’s helped me to spot my weaknesses with spending and think more about the kinds of things I want to invest in: experiences, giving, a secure future. This has translated into actual changes in my life that have made me healthier and happier - I’ve spent less on going out and drinking and on unnecessary purchases that were crowding up my life, I started cooking more once I realized how much I was spending on food delivery, I stopped wasting money on subscriptions that were keeping me on the couch. Sending my sincerest thanks to those who built this tool: thank you for helping to quickly transform my life when I really needed it, and helping me to feel optimistic about my future.

Other pros: The “safety net” savings feature has helped me save $1k over 4 months without thinking about it. The consolidation of accounts has helped me see a clearer picture of my finances, and more quickly pay off debt - which I have done in the 6 months since I started using the app. I’ve also made use of the opportunities to easily unsubscribe from subscriptions, and Rocket Money negotiators talked down my cell phone bill by $20/month - saving me $240 a year - after I thought I had truly argued my way to the lowest possible price!

So grateful to not have the financial headaches that used to trouble and drain me (How did I get subscribed for this? Why didn’t I see that charge? Why can’t I pay off my debt? etc etc). At this point I am basically a brand ambassador and have recommended this thing to all my friends, and would recommend to anyone who has ever struggled to budget, save, or pay off debt - download this! It will change your life.

Rocket Money Incredibly deceptive - pay attention and read the terms!

Update from my previous is at the end.

Chalk this up to lack of attention on my part. I chose to have Truebill negotiate a lower monthly rate for my cable bill and pay them 50% of the savings (Truebill gives you the option to pay 40%, 50%, or 60% of the savings). It seemed like a small price to pay so I went for it. Here’s where the deception comes in. Again, lack of detail on my part, but Truebill charges you a percentage of the monthly savings for an entire year, not a single month. Also, they want you to pay them up front! In my case, the $30 they saved me monthly wound up becoming an unexpected $180 bill (50% of $30 times 12 months, due in 10 days)! Truebill does give you an option to pay them back over time (up to 12 months) but this seems very deceptive not to disclose this information up front. Furthermore, there is no verification from my service provider (Xfinity) that Truebill has negotiated any savings with them on my behalf. Truebill says it may take 1-2 billing cycles for my new negotiated rates to show up on my bill, but until I do (if I do?), I’m out $180. If Truebill had made it more apparent that their fees we based on an entire years worth of savings then I may have reconsidered taking them up on their offer. Their “Terms” page is very clear, however the app does not make that readily apparent.

Update:
It turns out that Truebill did not attempt to negotiate lower rates for my cable and internet at all. They simply cancelled several of the services that I need and rely on for both work and home and put me on the hook for an inferior plan. To make matters worse, it will cost me significantly more to restore the services I had with Xfinity prior to engaging Truebill. Approximately $50 a month more!

So, in the end, the $360 Truebill ‘saved’ me will cost me the agreed upon fee of $180 plus another $600 over the next year to restore/maintain the services I had with Xfinity prior to allowing Truebill to ‘negotiate’ a lower bill. Sounds like a scam to me.

I feel duped and robbed.

Rocket Money Great potential, a couple suggestions

This app is my favorite that I have seen when it comes to budget/money tracker apps. However, it is kind of difficult to navigate, with a couple poorly placed buttons. I have a few suggestions:

When changing the category of a transaction and also wanting to ignore the transaction completely, there is an annoying little pop up at the bottom of the screen that says “category changed” or something like that that doesn’t let me press the button to ignore the transaction. Really annoying.

In the upcoming transactions tab, there isn’t any way to manually add an INCOME transaction, you can only add bills. This is annoying because I want to categorize income checks but it doesn’t let me.

I wish there was a separate location for the savings account—I have my checking and savings account connected to the app. However, for some reason, the app categorizes the two accounts together and reports the total, as it is the total amount of money that I have. I do not want to see it this way, though. I wish it was possible to separate savings and checking so that I see two different totals at the top, not one combined total. (I, probably like many other people, try to pretend my savings isn’t there and just use what is in my checking. The combined total makes it confusing).

I wish there was a way to direct deposit the automatic Truebill savings function (great idea by the way), directly into my savings account, instead of into the app. This is annoying and adds an extra step for me, as I would then have to transfer the money out of the “savings account” in the app into my actual savings bank account. I wish this could be done automatically.

Other small glitches and bugs that make the app sometimes difficult to navigate— I feel like it would make sense to be able to hard press and drag to rearrange a list of bank accounts, for example, but it doesn’t let me do that like other apps do.

Overall great app, please try to implement my suggestions as they would make the user experience much better for everyone.

Thanks!

Rocket Money Number one app you need for your finances

I love this app, I always wished to find one like this that keep everything related with rent bill, light, water bill, car insurance payments, also payments like credit cards and hidden Apple subscriptions you didn’t even knew you had. Easy to keep track of all this and in this app and cancelation buttons of subscriptions you don’t need are all in your finger tips.

In one night I already saved up about $94 from bill I didn’t know I had. I love this and I am continuing to learn this app I ago and it continues to surprise me.

Also when your Comcast Imternet get outage this app will get you discounts on day you can’t use your internet. They also find you the best deals of everything like your best car insurance payments rates and with the best benefits possible. Over all this app will keep track of your budget and it will give you the peace of mind like it has given to me and my family.

It will let you know how much you spent every month and if you are over spending beyond you means.

Over all this app has helped me greatly just tonight my first time using it LOL and it has become my favorite app!

They do charge $4 per month for their service but for me is worth it plus is only $48 a year. But if I don't mistake I think they also give you the option to an annual one time payment which I believe is cheaper!

Over all this app helped me save a lot tonight and here is the deal lol I feel like I am selling them because it sound too good to be true but I am seriously this is the best thing overall for people that are having personal banks overdraft fees this app will help you by letting you borrow up to $100 without interest rate, no hidden fees, and no credit check/or credit related is needed which is too good to be true...
The only thing about this to qualify you have to pay and I believe but I am not sure and I think lol 2,000 monthly but that’s not bad comparing to all the many other benefits this app offers.
I love that my finance is all in one app and I keep track of my spendings through this app spendings tracking.

Rocket Money TRULY a waste of money

Update: I honestly have no idea why this has been rated so highly. After my initial review and the issues below, they offered to give me a month free. Hahaha. They didn’t address any of the issues. Had a great example of the dumbness of this app this morning. I received an email telling me I just got money. I clicked the link and was told that was an “app only feature.” So, I open the app and cannot find any notice about receiving money anywhere. As near as I can tell, the email I just received is referencing something that happened last week. It’s just truly a useless app unless the bank you use is still operating in 2010.

I’ve been using this for a few months. From what I can tell, THIS is what the app does... It sends you an alert a few days after a transaction has taken place letting you know that a transaction has taken place - something my bank does immediately. I have normal, recurring transactions, with the same companies, for the same amounts. Every time, Truebill brilliantly weighs in two days later with a “We’ve noticed an unusually large transaction.” Oh. Have you? Thanks for letting me know. They can’t seem to figure out that I pay the same bills at the same time every month or that I get paid every month. From the marketing speak, they’d have you believe that the app will SAVE you money. Think about it. They want to MAKE money. They can’t do both. They said they could save me money on my cable bill. I bit. They came back and said they were able to lower my monthly bill by some small amount, but then they took a chunk of the savings as well - AND they charged me for their annual portion of the savings, while I, of course, would only realize my portion on a monthly basis. When I called them out on it, they gave me the money back and are now billing me monthly for their cut. No question that if I were to continue this, I would lose money over time. I understand it’s appealing to want something like an app to fix and manage things that perhaps we don’t want to spend the time fixing and managing, but this isn’t a real solution. Ironically, it’s just another thing you’ll be paying for.

Rocket Money Avoid at all costs

Several big problems but primarily:
1. I requested they negotiate my ATT bill because they kept saying it was too high. After a few days they stated that it was as low as it could go but they were able to get a one time $25 credit for me. They said that they would be charging me 1/2 if that as their fee. This was not mentioned how much it would be until this point. 1/2 the savings seemed steep. And they wanted theirs upfront- very problematic after #3 below happens. They sent a message asking me to agree to the changes to the account. I say no as there was no changes offered. They reply that it’s just a credit and no response is needed. (Why ask then?) I say fine as long as no changes happen to my att account then.

2. A couple days after signing up and setting credit card/bank info I was notified by my bank of a fraudulent charge. Upon checking out my statement there were four totaling about $275, from 3 sources. The only think that had been used recently out of the ordinary was Truebill. Upon notifying them of this unusual activity stemming from the timeframe I joined they shrugged it off, stating they use a third party that is used by other big companies. They then requested new details so they could collect the fee from the ATT deal. I stated no I would not be giving them my details and to give me an address to send a cashiers check or money order. They said they don’t take paper payments and sent a link to a different third party payment processor (one I've never heard of). I repeated that I was not giving them my details again. They stopped replying to this message.

3. A few days later I get my ATT bill which should show the $25 credit. Instead there is a $25 CHARGE. ATT is still in the process of replying. truebill states they don’t know why that happened but generously offered to not charge me the 12.50 fee (Duh?).
They had refused to delete my account after the fraud alert until I’d paid that fee. Now they “waived” the fee and deleted my account.

Stay far far away from this scam of a company.

*Edit4. Just noticed that the support email is an “Andrew” but the title etc is a “Tom”. Very sketchy.

Rocket Money Pretty useless

This app is like choosing to swim across the Atlantic, while a luxury yacht offers to transport you for free.

First, the programming logic is very flawed. Say you pay a credit card $200 more than the minimum payment 12 days before your due date. The app will think every proceeding payment will be due that same day (even though it’s before your due date) for that same amount (even though it was $200 more than your minimum). Your most recent charge for most bills is what the app assumes your payments will always be, which is quite annoying for non-fixed charges. I found I had to manually edit ALL of this data to make it accurate, which defeated the purpose of having the processes automated within the app.

Another example of this is when I had my two Home Internet & Cell Phone bills both provided by AT&T. Even though the two bills are due at different times of the month and have vastly different amounts, the app couldn’t distinguish they were separate bills. It even had a prompt saying, “Your bill is $150 more than usual - we should negotiate this down for you.” Nope, two different charges, but thanks… This just tells me the algorithm only looks at the payee of a bill and doesn’t use any other data to infer what the bill is. Pretty basic, imo.

For individual transactions, the app picked up a lot of duplicates (ie, counting a $200 transfer to Chime as an expense, then counting that same $200 spent with the Chime Debit Card as another expense - for a total of $400). For these duplicates, I had to manually edit the transactions again… Oh, but you have to pay to edit.

Since the app fails at accurately tracking bills and requires users to pay for basic budgeting features, I’m not sure what its purpose is. All I can assume is that their algorithm is purposely bad to entice users to pay because their financial data otherwise wouldn’t be very accurate. In a nutshell, you’re paying to no longer automate the tasks this app promises to do; you’re paying to do more work. In my opinion, a MUST HAVE for budgeting apps like is a Net Worth Tracker, which this app thankfully has to give it some redemption. Oh— never mind. They want money for that too.

If you’ve read this far, I suggest downloading Mint instead of this. All of these features are free of charge, plus many more.

Rocket Money An Absolute Necessity for Managing Personal Finances!

I highly recommend this app for anyone with a pulse and a bank account. We live in a world where all bills and subscription services are now automatically debited from our bank accounts. Gone are the days of dauntingly writing out paper checks every month. With that convenience, comes the ability for companies to offer small monthly rates for services or subscriptions in the form of auto debits. Not to mention those free trial offers that you may forget to cancel in time. All those small monthly debits may not seem like much when they hit your bank account, but can really add up. Truebill categorizes all these small debits and puts it in a format that allows you to truly see the multitude of all these costs. It’s incredibly eye opening to say the least! That’s just one of the many great features of Truebill. It helps you establish monthly budgets, tracks your spending, and flags and notifies you of anything unusual or unrecognized in your spending activity, and even cancel any unwanted subscriptions for you. It helps to greatly reduce many of your regular monthly bills by negotiating a better rate on your behalf. This is no joke! They have notified me that lower rates may be available on many of my monthly bills. For a very small and reasonable fee, they have managed to impressively lower the rates on many of my utility and service providers without any effort on my part. I don’t know how they do it, but I’ve been truly astonished by the things they’ve been able able to accomplish in lowering my bills. Once you authorize it, they really go to work for you, and the outcome has been amazing. Certainly more than I could’ve ever done on my own.
Truebill is a secure, safe and highly effective necessity for managing personal finances. Their fees are nominal, and the amount of money they’ve saved me has been more than tenfold. I can honestly say from personal experience using Truebill now for over two years, it’s been a financial lifesaver in so many ways. If there were any downsides I really haven’t experienced any. If I had to say anything slightly negative, it would be that there may sometimes be a slight lag in notifications on deposits or large transactions. However that seems to have improved quite a bit recently. Thank you so much Truebill!

Rocket Money Don’t do it!

TRASH. They are ripping you off, getting access to WAY more information than you think, and completely smearing your name to any company they are “negotiating” with (which makes any time YOU call them awful).

So I used and cancelled my usage last year when my (small) negotiation of $20/month yielded a $96 charge. Your 40% fee is paid to them in an immediate lump sum. Whatever, I paid it last year, cancelled everything paid, and moved on.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I get a message saying they renegotiated my bill and then charged me $100. Not sure how, but suddenly I was out a huge lump sum for something I didn’t need - I was literally in process of cancelling the account they were negotiating - which is why I write this now.

The customer service team was being frustrating to work with, which was super excessive based off what I was calling about. The second rep I talked to was super snarky and rude and kept trying to get me to just hang up and not finish what I needed to. I used a call last week as a bit of a threat, which was weird because I hadn’t called - and told him as such.

I mentioned this to the supervisor I ended up speaking to, and she pulled up the call and confirmed it wasn’t me -

***HOWEVER***
After wonderful customer service from the company and some research, it WAS a Trubill/Rocket Money representative actively saying she WAS me. She had access to WAY more information than I provided, which was so creepy, and went above and beyond to convince them it was me. The amount of information she was able to provide was TERRIFYING.

I listened to the supervisor listen to the calls and she was consistently reacting going “oh gosh, ahh that’s awful! Whooooooah” with genuine shock. She alluded to some of the specifics of the call and it was DISGUSTING - and she did this all AS “ME”.

Then she yelled, cursed, insulted, and degraded the customer service reps she spoke to. There were racial slurs and other awful derogatory statements, too. The supervisor let me know there were notes ALL over my account that I was rude, abrasive, offensive, etc. No wonder they weren’t helpful!

I’m sure if I called myself to try to set up a new service, my options and deals would be totally trashed - and I wouldn’t have known.

I am beyond belief. Currently IP on verifying all of my accounts have zero association with this trash company.

Rocket Money Love it! Small tweaks can make it even more awesome

I am giving this app 5 stars as I think the application is very well implemented, provides a clean and modern user interface and provides an efficient workflow to identify the expenses, auto classify them and providing good options to manually override when needed.

Pros:
in my opinion, this app is better than Mint from Intuit which I have previously used for several years; better auto classification of the expenses and the overall presentation of the data seems to be better in TrueBill
love the design and user interface
helped me to identify an unauthorized charge from codecademy.com $239 for an annual subscription that I previously canceled; for this reason I have upgraded to the premium version

Opportunities to improve:
I would like to have an option to be notified when certain companies keep charging my credit card for a subscription that I previously canceled (this is worth paying the premium subscription in my opinion)
I would like to see the aggregated spend by merchant in a given year, month
enhance the manual override rules to better cover use cases where you have charges from Costco and Costco Gas and you want to create a rule that overrides the automatic allocation. A rule that says “if merchant name is Costco and merchant name contains Costco Gas then assign it to category “Gas”, else “Groceries”). I was able to find a hack with two rules but partially worked and additional manual steps were required

My view on the application cost

While I appreciated the ability to quickly identify a $239 expense that I may have missed, given the amount of personal and financial data that is shared with TrueBill I believe the application should be provided at no cost as they have many opportunities to monetize it. While the Lite version is provided at zero cost, it restricts the number of user defined categories (plan says 2, I was unable to create any custom categories until I actually upgraded) and the “renaming” and “user notes for a transaction” are also disabled in the Lite plan. Mint provides this functionality for free

In my opinion the justification to pay a premium subscription is for:
full credit score monitoring across 3 agencies
identify protection and insurance
one click subscription cancellation
bill negotiation and reduction
monitoring and alerting of subscription charges after users will mark them as canceled in the TrueBill app

Cheers!

Rocket Money Doesn’t work as promised

As someone that has tried the premium version of this app let me put some things in here that you might want to consider before using. With premium service it is listed you’ll get access to concierges that will categorize and set up your monthly recurring expenses, bills and utilities. That is a big nope, you’ll do that yourself or it won’t happen. There’s not even an option in this app to ask them to do it when you notice it didn’t get done automatically upon payment of your premium service. Also it is stated you’ll get access to instant support via chat if you’re a premium user, no you will not. You’ll get a chat system, you will type your question or concern then be told it’ll be at least “a day“ before someone will reply. If you go on and type in the automated assistant for help you will get outdated or incorrect information, as an example it will tell you if you notice you are not receiving your premium services to go to the settings page go to premium subscription scroll to the bottom of the page and click restore, there is no such menu either online or on the app itself. One of the biggest things I wanted an app for was to remind me when a recurring payment was coming up, or even alert me on it’s due date. I went through and set all of the notifications to on, set up an email, phone number and make sure the phone itself was allowing banners, notifications, pushes, etc. and ignorance (and from the friend that referred this app) I stopped using my Excel sheet and dry a race board I previously used to jot down reminders, and rely solely on this app to alert me. To cut off notices later, one for my gas bill and another for the electric bill, I have decided this feature most certainly is not working. I checked spam in my email, notifications on my phones lock screen, and found no notifications at all about any bills, I even checked the alerts in the app itself and all of those were advertisements asking me to let them lower my bills so they could collect 40% of whatever they thought they were saving me. There are numerous miss categorizing issues that will come up, and it will definitely put your custom budget out of whack if you don’t meticulously comb through the transactions list at least weekly, maybe more if you’re a frequent spender. In theory, and going by the advertisements, this app seems great, in reality it is very poor and even a little dangerous to use as it will ask you to sync your financial accounts directly to it.

Rocket Money They don’t “Negotiate”. they downgrade

I read the other reviews and a few people were complaining about, this or that and I was like “those people are just dumb!”

So I downloaded the app, signed into my bank account and stuff, all was good. As a side note, as a money managing app I think it’s decent.

However... DO. NOT. USE. THERE. NEGOTIATION. SERVICE.

I had an unlimited data plan with AT&T, which gave me a special $25 discount on my DirectTV Now account.
I signed up for them to negotiate with att to lower my bill. They said “we will never downgrade your service”, so I thought “what the heck it can’t hurt.” And boy was I wrong...

When I filled out all the info they had a box that said “do you have any special instructions” and I wrote “I do not want ANY changes made to my account unless I approve them first.” I was foolish to think they would actually read or care about that.

Anywho. About a week later they email me saying “We switched you from AT&T unlimited to the 10GB data share plan! Which will save you $15 a month!” (Which sounds like a downgrade to me)
Now since they charge 40% of the 1st years savings that means they charged me $72.

Now remember my DirectTV now discount only applies if I have an unlimited plan. I would also like to add I was over 10Gb this month.

So they cut my bill by $15 a month.

They increased my other bill by $25 a month.

They charged me $72 dollars flat.

And Got my data speed throttled for the rest of this month.

So naturally I called ATT and DirctTv now and TRIED to switch everything back.

After switching myself BACK to the unlimited plan my bill INCREASE by $10 of what it ORIGINALLY was. (I was paying $165, true bill cut it down to $150, and now I pay $175 for the exact same service)

AND DirectTV Now will only offer me the current $15 dollar promotion and not the $25 dollar one.(I was paying $40, true bill caused it to jump to $65, now I pay $50 for the exact same service)

So they cut my bill by $15, charged me $72.
And after several hours of phone calls, supervisors, being on hold and so much other junk. I now pay $20 more per month then before I downloaded this stupid app.
So basically this app cost me about $300 to download.

Oh and TrueBill customer service refuses to reply/respond to me... I’m pretty sure this is the first app review I have ever submitted.

No Negotiation happened. They just downgraded my service and charge me money. I coulda done that in about 2 minutes if I wanted that... if they actually called and negotiated ATT woulda told them that if I DOWNGRADE off the unlimited my DirectTV Now would go up.

Really disappointed and I really hope no one else has to deal with what I dealt with...

Rocket Money STAY AWAY SCAM! ZERO STARS PREDATORS!

I started great, loved the app. After several weeks tried the premium to take advantage of the budgeting tool, started bill negotiation only to realize they would keep 40% for something I can do myself. As soon as I started it, I turned it off in the app. I got an email saying they negotiated my bill and would be deducted 196 dollars. Sent them chats, explaining I turned this off and screenshots. No reply told them not to take money until I talked to them and confirmed what they did, no response. Called my internet company, was told nothing changed and they were running a promotion on a new package and everyone was getting a 40 dollar credit per month, no one had negotatied anything. Got a seperate message saying they did not have permission to negotiate and what the benefits would be. I figured they were confirming that I turned it off and it was dead issue. The card they had on file, was not a card I had so I figured it was some kind of mistake. Come to find out they tried twice to charge my apple cash card, which I had been saving money on, 196 dollars but it was declined because I did not have enough. I was short 10 dollars, they almost took it all without contacting me when I specifically asked them not too and for 72 hours have been asking for help. Sad because I loved the app and I would have kept my subscription and paid them for years, now they get nothing, STAY AWAY!

Part 2, you can see that they tried to say I should contact them, well I did, over a dozen times. Was ignored and then finally when I went the delete route they tried to collect money from me again. I sent them transcripts showing the compay that they negotiated with had no record and that my bill had not change, and will not change. Found this on the internet:

There are some nightmare scenarios, with details ranging from complaints about Truebill claiming a 40% share of an internet bill savings that a customer negotiated themselves over the phone with their provider to Truebill renegotiating a cable/internet/phone bundle to lower costs that resulted in changing a cell phone plan without requesting permission.

This is exactly what is happening to me. They have been reported to the ComplaintsBoard.com and have an F rating. I had to get my account information switched, because they kept attempting to take different amounts out of my account, however, could not due to insufficient funds, causing my account to go delinquent. NEVER have I had a company try to rip me off so bad, and do it through the app store too. Called apple on them, reported them to my bank and the company they said they negotiated. DO NOT USE THIS APP. The person who responded to this has had plenty of opportunity to fix it and have not.

Rocket Money almost worth it, probably worth it for others maybe

Alrighty, idk who reads these or how large truebill is. But idk maybe take this to someone

Overall opinion: almost worth it, probably worth it for others maybe.

I think the most frustrating thing is linking the accounts. This app is fantastic. It's leaps and bounds better than mint. The biggest being the significantly less advertisements for services I don't bleeping want.

However, it also has similar irresolvable issues. The biggest being Linking my accounts. I utilize, amongst others, a Robinhood, acorns, and a major bank - a very common combination among people my age I'm guessing.
The issues arise from authentication compatibility. And not all are central to your app. For instance yes there's going to be trouble linking acorns card/bank and Robinhood, I'm confident you're team will find a way to eventually resolve these, but I also had difficulty linking my bank, not because of you, but rather T-Mobile. My bank requires a phone that can receive texts from their service text thing that's 3-5 digits. T-Mobile conveniently blocks those texts giving issues with linking PayPal, my bank, and various other services and there's no way to remove that block. So ultimately, I would love to buy this app, I would pay up to 3.99-4.99/month, but it isn't working for me because of various difficulties in authentication all of which are not central to your app. I think if there was a way to securely centralize and authenticate my accounts like an overarching bank that holds all my other banks in my identity that would basically resolve most of issues. However I'm pretty sure that's not possible to do or at least not by anyone other than the credit bureaus themselves.

The things that almost made the app worth it were the simple visualization of recurring charges, ease and ability to add recurring charges that were not identified (only a couple), lay out and ease of navigation.

Things that could use significant improvement but were probably still good enough
- budgeting tool: overall good for fixed income households. a feature for auto tracking income and budget creation from variable income received; this would be great for students, and basically everyone impacted by Corona, those in between jobs, those without consistent income, those with variable side hustles and many others.

Things that could use significant improvement:
- iPad app: download the app and open on your docked iPad. It looks bad, it was little and the wrong orientation. I didn't even login.

- ease of account linking. At least with common financial apps like robinhood, acorns, stash, Venmo, PayPal, cash app, zelle, various large banking institutions needs to be 80% smooth especially if I have to pay for the app. It needs to be able to link 3/4 of those at random with no problem, with one maybe requiring a little extra effort.

- Apple subscription fees: view and break up bundle when I hover it, that would be lit I think.

Rocket Money Why I cancelled my subscription

Truebill is a good concept and it’d be a great app if it functioned for me as it should. It’s free for the basic features. I’ve been using premium for about a year and it doesn’t really seem worth it given the syncing issues I’ve had. The “cancel it for me” still requires a login so you might as well do it your self.

My paychecks and bills don’t appear in the app until a day or two late so when I’m charged, it’s still a surprise since the app isn’t accurate before hand. Even when you change dates after the fact, Truebill still registers transactions as happening a day later than they should so it’s not an accurate way to view my bill spending. The budget features are nice but there’s a lot of manual sorting you have to do just to see an accurate breakdown of your expenses.

The most bothersome thing for me is that it doesn’t accurately predict the amount or the time of my paycheck and bills, which should be the easy part since they happen on the same day every month?! Plus with premium your banks sync live but even when I sync it still reflects the wrong amount of money in my checking and savings. So while it’s nice to be able to see all my accounts at a glance, they are almost never up to date when they need to be and are therefore not any more useful than just logging into my own bank accounts. I’ve tried disconnecting my accounts and logging in again. I’ve disconnected the app and reinstalled it. I’ve used the sync feature but the app just isn’t working for me and given how useful it’s been since I’ve payed premium, I wish I could just get my money back.

2019-Im so so grateful that i found truebill. I’ve used other finance apps but none have broken it down so plain and simple like they do. Truebill is accesible and the interface is attractive and relaxing. Very important when you’re handling something as stressful as finance. But they’ve made it so simple and easy to understand! At a glance I can see upcoming bills, total expenses for the month, and I can view a breakdown of my expenses categorically which really helps me in particular see where I should cut back. I was hesitant to start paying because the free version was already so helpful, but they honestly deserve a little something for their hard work at truebill! For the amount they’re saving me, and their assistance in lowering bills, truebill me premium feature is definitely worth the money. The app is very customizable and the fact that it learns and categorizes your expenses is honestly such a life saver. It’s helped me avoid fraud at least once too. Something I’d like to see on the app is maybe a practical tips and advise section for those of us who aren’t so financially inclined, to learn good ways to cut expenses, and ideas that could elevate and maximize a budgeting plan. Perhaps a savings and budgeting column? I’m sure they have so pretty savvy people ready to share their insights! I’d love to just see real every day people and how they’re saving and how we can too! That is so much truebill. Very few apps on the App Store can do what they say, without making me feel like I’m being ripped off. Keep up the great work!

Rocket Money Will not regret trying - they value customer loyalty decide service fee

Short version -
easy to use , use their categories or create your own , pulls all your transactions into one place , and also alerts you of ways to save if notice anything come through higher then national avg. they trust their customers and confident in their app and this is reflected by allowing you to set your own monthly fee and increase or decrease it whenever you want without loosing any features or service . I started at $7 then decided to increase to $20 because I live this app. Only thing I don’t like is can only do 1 additional user but that’s because more for personal finances but you can easily use for business and create the tax categories you need and budgets just the same . So try them out you won’t regret it (note I paid $150 a month before finding them, Truebill is better then quickbooks and book keeping services if your able to initially label what category your transaction is for that vendor when first trans comes . After it’s automatically labeled . no one but accounting services had the customization I needed and amount of accounts I could connect so started at $7/month VS paying that $150 a month is invaluable so just try them )
———
Long version for why I am taking extra effort in this review cuz I really do encourage anyone to try them

they value your loyalty and judgment of their worth for the wirj they do over bottom line . If you love their service you’ll increase how much you pay them on your own out of respect for them .

I struggled with finding an actual app to do what I wanted eventually resorting to a book keeping service which was $150 a month and I had to correct the labeling anyway half the time for transaction categories . All I really wanted was the ability to create transaction categories as needed along with list of common tax categories list and be able to pull live transaction data from my accounts all into one place . Quick books was the only ones I could find other then accounting services and they wouldn’t allow me to add some accounts or setup my own categories .

True bill does and not only that they monitor the transactions against national averages of customers and if they notice any bills higher then that they offer to help you negotiate lower rates , recover fees for things like service outages , or even provide scripts and direct customer service #s for banks to try get your overdraft fees reversed .

But the best part is they believe in providing their customers with a valued service and trust their customers to pay them what they are worth by allowing you to choose how much your monthly subscription fee is . No matter $ amount you choose they give the same service and features . That’s valuable for people who are their own employment and small with tight budgets . I started at $7 a month but since then I decided to increase to $20 because I could afford more and they prove to be highly valuable so want to help them increase their revenue which in return allows them more funding for more features . That’s best plan I seen in a long time to focus on building customers/business trust and loyalty which has been lost in recent years I feel with most businesses .

So now I see why they do subscriptions like this because if I voluntarily increased my own fee , thej others just be too then . that’s more valuable then any review to let them know they are on the right path with their app and more confidence in knowing not likely to loose a customer , it unhappy I can just lower my fee to signal value if service changes . :)

Keep up the great work Truebill !

Rocket Money was better as Truebill

have to completely redo this review seeing Rocket completely redid Truebill into their on tomfoolery.

cutting to the chase; yes, technically speaking Rocket Money does indeed do as expected a la managing subscriptions… but at this point, that’s it. somehow, every other functionality that was there as Truebill is either broken or locked behind a paywall that was never there prior — and that’s the other thing; Truebill’s original Premium was a “see how much you can/want to support us”, whereas this is now a set subscription like all the other applications that do the same.

in terms of usability, the app went from a simple UI with easy-to-understand menus and functionality, to a broken conglomerate of “feed us cash” that was never intended under Truebill. now, as Rocket Money, you’re essentially paying for the brand name rather than the product.

the bugs are atrocious too. before uninstalling, i sat down and tried to move subscriptions and mark things as “inactive” or cancel them an upwards of 10 times, restarting the app between each, only to get… nowhere.

it’s sad to see a product that i genuinely enjoyed using and seeing grow become just another subscription service promising financial management, and unfortunately until the choice to backtrack to how Truebill was pre-Rocket, i don’t think i’ll be re-installing or creating a new account.

Rocket Money USE TRUEBILL… if you don’t want to save money

I was initially hesitant to use Truebill, because I’ve been burned by budgeting apps in the past (different story for a different day). And oh man, I should’ve listened to my instincts!

Everything about Truebill seemed great! The ability to track your subscriptions and negotiate for lower bills, cool features right? Wrong. I recently had Truebill negotiate my internet service bill, thinking I would be presented with options of ways to save money on my bill. NOPE. Truebill negotiated my bill AND changed my internet package/monthly rate WITHOUT my approval. Not only that, but the internet package they chose for me, WAS NOT SAVING ME MONEY! In fact, I would’ve been paying $20 more a month for a package that included a voice/phone service that I don’t even need! Truebill charged me $62.65 for finding me these “SaViNgS” . When I had argued this with a member of their support team, I was told that the change to my internet service was already processing and couldn’t be changed until the new plan was done processing. He then tried to tell me that I was previously paying $80 dollars a month and Truebill had negotiated it down to $50 a month and since they had lowered my bill I was charged the $62.65 for the sAvInGs they had found… when in fact, It was the OPPOSITE. I was previously paying $50 a month and they changed my plan to $80.

Right your wrongs Truebill.

Rocket Money Doesn’t Cancel Subscriptions

I don't know about anyone else, but I got this app to manage my subscriptions. After very short usage I realized it was not accurate, which is scary considering the amount of information they have about me. Here’s my experience; It brought me to all my subscriptions based off my information, except i guess some didn’t showed up? After i was under the impression that all of my subscriptions were listed, a few weeks later, I got charged for a subscription i didn’t realize i had! so it does not find all of your subscriptions like advertised. Another weird thing was that a subscription had showed up for a really random brand i had never seen and said i was being charged $20 a month for it so i canceled it (it actually canceled for me this time) but i don’t recall ever seeing repeated $20 charges on my bank statement before, very strange. Also, i canceled my Hulu subscription through the true bill app. It said it was going to be reviewed then canceled and when i checked a couple weeks later, it still said the same thing! I had to go back and canceled within seconds myself, on the Hulu web browser. So it does not cancel subscriptions through the app and it does not find all subscriptions… it also says a different amount as my debit card balance than stated in my actual bank account, i do not know what that’s all about. Overall i do not like it and it does not manage money that well

Rocket Money Predatory business | Don’t download this app!

On Saturday, March 6, I found an app called Truebill and thought I'll check it out. On Monday, March 8, Truebill accessed my Comcast account and changed my internet service contract. This resulted in my monthly charges increasing instead of reducing as advertised. I received emails from Comcast for the account changes on Tuesday, March 9. I decided to contact Comcast to figure out what they were referring to. Since I wasn't sure what happened because Truebill never addressed the matter with me. Instead, they did whatever they wanted without my final consent. Truebill claims to have reduced my internet bill, instead, they increased my monthly plan charges to $129.74 / mo, added phone and tv services that I don't want nor am interested in. I canceled their request and negotiated an actually better rate directly with Comcast and my bill went from $80 / mo to $75 / mo. I then try deleting my personal data from Truebill's system, but I wasn't allowed to. I then requested the deletion of my information from the Truebill system, but they refused to do so. Now they are stating I have to pay them for my data to be erased. Their business practices are unacceptable and unethical, to say the least. Today Friday, March 12, they attempted to debit my card for $123.33. I had to cancel my card because they still refuse to remove my card info from their system. DONT DOWNLOAD!

Rocket Money USER BEWARE! You’ll regret downloading this app

As someone who never leaves reviews I had to share my experience with the Truebill app bait and switch scam.

Truebill “negotiated” a monthly service payment by lying to the service provider in my name and because of Truebill the initial subscription actually WENT UP IN PRICE! I still am stuck PAYING MORE MONEY now than before downloading this insidious app.

After the change to my service plan
Truebill had the audacity tonCHARGE ME for their sham services rendered and when I challenged Truebill on the final outcome and the insane amount of money they were demanding for it they dismissed me, ignored me and finally “were looking into it” for weeks on end. While I was left waiting for Truebill to get back to me...
❗️❗️❗️they went and pulled money out of my checking account (without my consent) using a different checking account from the one I set up as my only in app payment method. Something that, by the way, was EXPLICITLY STATED they wouldn’t do with the personal banking details when provided

Oh and they will hold your information and account hostage until they bleed you dry at their leisure. No option to close or freeze activity on the users end. I have lost well over $200 and am still having payments deducted no end in sight. Truebill lied, cheated, and stole from me and damaged my reputation and relationship with my service provider as well.

Bottom line: DO NOT TRUST TRUEBILL

Rocket Money Definitely read this review

Hey I just wanted to say I genuinely dislike your app. It feels really slimey and I’m really anxious about what charges I’m going to get from you. This isn’t hate mail - this is genuine discontentment from someone who wanted to like this app. I want to help you guys fix your issues - here’s some feedback:

1) I don’t trust you. You said you’d negotiate my Comcast Bill down for 30% of the savings but I read online that sometimes people get reduced service. Why isn’t there a guarantee that service won’t get reduced? Are you just ignoring that feedback? Or are you self aware that your practices are predatory? Sus.
2) stop judging me. There’s nothing that ruined a moment for me like seeing “your wallet is getting a workout!” Who do you guys think you are? Think deep - that’s rude to get from a person, you think I’m gonna take it from a piece of software code? That was the moment I decided to delete this app.
3) Start caring - genuinely caring - about your users and how they think about you. When I got mad about feedback point #2 and #1, I looked to see who runs this company. Co-founders: Why would you describe yourself as someone who took a company from $1M to $20M in RR revenue? That doesn’t mean you solved anyone’s problems at all. How is that your achievement? It makes me think you’re flipping this company for VC money and that I’m just being strung along. It really upset me and I would actively advise people against using this app.

Rocket Money Negotiation resulted in my internet contract being cancelled and my internet being shut off

Be careful with this company’s “bill negotiation” service. Something went super wrong with the negotiation that Rocket Money did with Xfinity to reduce my bill which resulted in my contract with xfinity being cancelled and my internet being shut off. So I woke up to find I had no internet access and was having all these weird errors on my phone connected to a comcast internet account I didn’t recognize. I was totally confused and then called xfinity and they said that someone from Rocket Money had called earlier and had agreed to cancel my account because a price agreement could not be reached. So xfinity disconnected my internet after the conversation with Rocket Money and it took me 3 HOURS to figure out what was going on and get a new account set up with xfinity and and then internet working again (which required me to spend a lot of time on the phone and troubleshooting issues). I was supposed to work from home and it totally messed up my day.

Then Rocket Money did not seem to care when I told them what had happened and simply reassured me that I had not been charged for the negotiation and they didn’t offer me anything (such as free premium membership or refund on membership) to make up for the mess they created. They said I need to get them a copy of the transcript from the conversation with xfinity and a detailed copy of my contract, which will take even more time as they are not able to provide me with this unless I call them and spend even more time on the phone.

Rocket Money Bill negotiation scam!

This app promised to negotiate my bill cox internet bill, they attempted to and didn’t find any deals so they said they would try again in a few months. Ok no problem. During this time, I had a promotion that expired on my account, so I went ahead and handled the bill and got a new promotion. Right after that, I got an email that they were gonna attempt to negotiate the bill again. I thought maybe I should cancel since I already handled this, but let me give them a chance since they’re “professional” maybe they can get me an extra few bucks off and it doesn’t hurt to try. Next thing I know, I get an email that they saved me $1,300 or something (forgot the number exactly) over the span of 12 months so they will be taking their 30% cut from that, but here’s the trick, my bill didn’t change. They didn’t save me a single time, yet they are trying to take about $400 from me for absolutely nothing. I tried to reach to someone but never heard back. There’s no customer service number to talk to a human about bill negotiation and they never responded to email or chat. I would say save your money and don’t give them access to your accounts. Update: after emailing bill negotiation team and showed them my previous billing statements, they proceeded to do nothing and be very dismissive of my issue and took credit for “saving me” money. So best advice is don’t even try this service as anyone can call and negotiate their bill themselves without a service fee and without being scammed. Remember, my bill didn’t change.

Rocket Money SCAM alert. Don’t download it. It’s a total SCAM

I saw their ads and liked the idea they negotiate the bills. Here is what have happened.

March 5th : downloaded the Truebill application. When downloaded it, it asked your social security number, bank account numbers, credit card number and passcodes. After it scanned your bank statement, it found your bills such as internet bill or phone bill and asked more about id, passcode, pin code and so on.

I got emails from the cox cable that my request to delete an internet service completed. Internet service was gone. Right after that, Truebill sent an invoice of $384. I sent an text through Truebill App ( only way to communicate them) informing that they actually deleted the internet and asked not to take $384.

I got the response from the guy name James working at the negotiation team. He sent back a text that they never deleted services. I sent back the account activity showing the internet service actually was being deleted. I called to Cox cable to put the service back. They charged me $20 for reinitiated fee.

March 6th : Truebill again “negotiated” and deleted the internet. I called Cox to put the service back. Sent a text to James to stop activities from the Trubill. He never returned the text back.

March 8th : Truebill charged $192, first half of $384 on their invoice. Also Truebill had online transfer of $36 from my bank account.

I have all proof of what has happened. All in all, when you download Trubill and put all sensitive information, that is it. You will be entirely vulnerable to this scam. Don’t download it and save yourself.

Rocket Money SCAM ALERT !

I usually don’t come here with the intent to write lengthy reviews but I am going to take the time do so because Truebill is an absolute scam!

I wish no one experiences what I experienced with Truebill.

I signed up on Truebill based on the “false” advertisement of lowering my utility bills.

They claimed to have “negotiated” my AT&T broadband bill back in July . They claimed to have saved me $20/month for the next 12 months. My bill used to $61.08/month and based on Truebill’s negotiation with AT&T, I would get $20 credit/month and my total final bill would be $41.08/month for 12 months. For whatever successful negotiation, Truebill takes 40% of the amount that was negotiated. That is 40% of $240 = $96. I was charged $96.

Turns out I got that discount for the month of August and have been paying $61.08/month since September. It was a one time discount.

I called AT&T customer care to find out what’s wrong and turns out that there was never a negotiation neither was there a $20/month credit to be applied to my account. It was all a lie!

Later, I reached out to The Truebill customer care associates Oliver and Jack who first claimed that the discount applied to my August’s bill was a “pre-existing” discount, which means from AT&T.

The discount was not by AT&T but in fact by Truebill itself as a “one time” discount. AT&T defined any such negotiation and offer. Hence, Truebill did nothing about it and waited for me to reach out for my money.

PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT ON YOUR BILL IF YOU HAVE USED TRUEBILL!

This is an absolute SCAM!

You’re welcome and be safe!

Rocket Money Great app! Just one thing…

(4.5/5 stars) I’m in love with Truebill! I’m lazy when it comes to budgeting (lol), but all I have to do is take a quick look and I know a ton about how much I have in my account as well as my spending habits. I truly feel that I’m on top when it comes to financial stability. However, I have one tiny issue. I had a subscription (YouTube TV) that I cancelled weeks before a due payment, and yet the app told me that I was expected to pay it considering that they couldn’t cancel it for me. I was obviously terrified of having to pay $50 for something I no longer used (because what broke human being isn’t?), but after some fiddling around and letting the app know that I was able to cancel it, the little subscription notice disappeared. Overall, I was able to take care of this issue myself, but considering that Truebill prides themself in cancelling subscriptions for you, I find it confusing and exhausting that I had to do the dirty work myself and wish there was more done on their part. I will admit that I don’t know much about how Truebill goes through the process of cancelling unwanted subscriptions, but I do hope they at least thoughtfully consider my feedback. Besides that issue, though, I don’t have one other critique about Truebill, and I do hope that they can succeed further in the future! :D

Update 3/12: I’m literally downgrading my rating to one star since the account balance which I’m given was inaccurate to my actual balance. I was told by Truebill that I had $18 when in reality I actually had zero. Eventually deleted it because I’m just that upset about it. >:(

Rocket Money TrueBill= Worst

Just stay away!

I would recommend lighting $100 on fire and having someone kick you in the nuts before signing up for this again. I signed up for truebill awhile ago thinking it would help out with various bills that tend to go up after time. They hadn’t done anything for me in the 2+ years I had them. Then I had a baby 2 weeks ago and with the current state of the world, have been spending a lot of time on the couch watching tv. They decided now for the first time ever to change my Comcast Bill, drop HBO, Showtime, and 5 other channels from my plan, lower my internet speed, AND sign me up for a new 2 year contract saving me a roughly $14 a month. Shocking to think I couldn’t have gotten my Bill lowered by eliminating services I pay for. They conveniently assume I wanted all this cause it fits their biz model... $14x24 = $336.36 in “Savings” which came from lowering my internet speed and dropping channels I watch. I reached out to them no less than 8x in 3 days only to be emailed once saying “You aren’t losing channels... basically get [protected]@cked” couldn’t get ahold of anyone else or cancel my subscription until they took their cut which was 40% ($134.64) from my credit card. So then with my newborn in my arms I had to call Comcast, sit on the phone for 2+ hours and get my other plan reinstated. It was Awesome. This App ruined 5 days of my life and stole $134.64 from me. Anyone who uses this app be prepared to get bent and taken advantage of. Bunch of thieves. Gave em 1 star cause actually impressed how much they [protected]@cked me over. Been awhile since I’ve been abused like that.

Rocket Money Love Rocket Money but it stopped working for me

Okay so I found rocket money through one of my podcasts I love to listen to and I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and fell in love with them. I had no issues at all with it. I love the way their app works, the way it categorizes everything and how you can set rules for certain transactions. It had become a comfort thing for me to go through the app and fix stuff, reorganize and budget. I felt in control of my spending and seeing where my money was going at all times. I was a HUGE FAN. I even recommended it to everyone I know. And then all of a sudden a few months ago it just stopped working. My RBFCU account would no longer connect and I waited a while bc sometimes it took a little longer to update which was fine but 2 months went by and I was getting frustrated, because like I said it’s one of my comfort things. I unlinked my account thinking oh maybe that’ll help if I reset everything and I have not been able to get back in since. I talked to someone on the support messaging thing they have and someone named Fox told me that if the app wasn’t working for me to go ahead and not renew my premium membership. Oh yeah, I paid for all the bells and whistles of this app too. And I had to pay for the last remaining months where it wasn’t working. I have still not yet been able to get back in it’s been 4 months. There isn’t another app like rocket money and it saddens me to have to write a negative review but I think its important for people to see both sides. An amazing app but if you can’t use it the way it’s intended, they send you the boot and don’t do much to help you.

Rocket Money DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE YOU USE IT !

sad, as that service seemed to be promising
however ...
bad costumer service
and questionable features...
i’ve joined the app almost 3 months ago
as a business owner i have two bank accounts, biz and personal, i only managed to synch one account into the truebill app,
the personal account couldn’t be synced
i reported to the tech support. and been told it’s been taking care of, it never been, i heard from the representative one more time, she asked if i still have the issue, i said YES. and that’s the last time i heard from her. as for now, still only the business account is synced, which makes the app useless, as i can see only half of my money.
also as a “premium subscriber”
im entitled to have my bills “renegotiated”
by the TB team. last time i was promised to have my AT&T bill reduced by $50
“sounds good to me” i said , the deal is that if the negotiation is successful TB are keeping 40% of the discount.
soon i’ve got a message from the TB said that they succeed and my next phone bill will be discounted , they quickly deducted the 40% fee ($20) of my bank account, but now as i’m checking my latest phone bill, NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED” same amount i pay every month.
i contacted the costumer support again, attaching my latest phone bill
and in their reply all i’ve been told is that i’ve ill be removed from the “renegotiation service” and that’s all.
the rest is been completely ignored.
obviously i canceled the payed subscription
immediately.
check all the aspects before using the app!
i don’t think ill ever see my 20 bucks again
but Trubill will definitely won’t see my money ever again.

Rocket Money Not impressed

I’ve had the app ten minutes and I’ve already found a ton of problems that make it all but unusable for me:
1) Because I haven’t gotten my second paycheck this month, it thought I made half of what I actually make. Instead of simply going back a month to figure it out, I had to manually add it using a slide bar which isn’t easy to do with your finger. I ended up giving up trying to get the exact amount.
2) It thinks my occasional purchase of pet food from a specific store is a subscription, and I can’t delete that. All I can do is change it to a “bill” or a “charitable donation” or one of the other options from the drop-down list, none of which apply and all of which require me to enter a set frequency.
3) It keeps flagging my internet payment as “too high”. It’s actually extremely LOW for my area. I can’t get it to stop flagging it.
4) It didn’t detect my rent, which is my highest bill. Again, had to manually enter.
5) Every month, I take my rent money and put half of it in the stock market until the end of the month, so that, instead of just sitting in my checking account, my money is earning more money until I have to use it to pay rent. But the app is counting my investments as an expenditure, the same as buying a $500 pair of shoes. So every month, it’s going to show my expenditures as WAY more than they actually are, throwing off my spending budget.
6) It doesn’t list my 2nd credit card, which was issued by a major company. (Luckily that’s just a backup card I never use, but if I decide to switch and make that my main card, which I’ve been considering doing, then it won’t be able to link it to my TrueBill account.)

Rocket Money Brilliant Idea, but Doesn’t Really Work

I think the general concept of this app is brilliant. I’m sure the code behind it is very complex. With that said, I think the code behind this app is too complex for them to execute it properly.

I have certain bills that are quite high that I pay every 6 months, but RocketMoney has those on my app as showing due every month. Not sure why that would be when it comes out of my account every six months.

Other issues are that some of my monthly bills don’t even register so I really don’t have a clear picture of what bills are due. I believe you can manually enter what is a bill or not, but the whole point of this app is to automate all of that. If I have to manually mark things as bills to get them to show up, I’d rather use a spreadsheet, which I do.

Some items are also randomly marked as bills, and here are two examples. Some of my “upcoming bills” are Venmo transactions that I have paid to people to buy products…I’m not planning on buying the exact same Facebook Marketplace item every month from the same person. Doesn’t make sense. The next example for “bills” are bank transfers between my checking and savings accounts. It will show I have an “upcoming bill” to myself. I wouldn’t really consider that a bill and I might not have money some months to make that exact same transfer amount to myself.

Lastly, I was relying on RocketMoney to see if I had any subscriptions I didn’t know about, since that’s what they advertise. Looks like I didn’t have any I didn’t know about…sweet! Then two different subscriptions charged me that I had forgotten about.

App idea is brilliant, but it does not do anything that it advertises it does.

Rocket Money Deleted app and subscription

Apparently since they are still connected to my bank because I gave them that information they think that they can strong arm me into paying them if I ever want to use their service again which obviously I’m never going to use this app again... they want me to pay $215 at this very moment as if it’s a bill as if I want them to continue doing what they’re doing instead of stopping what they were doing when I unsubscribed like a normal business one. It looks like these people are deciding to be like a gym or a fitness center where you have to pay monthly and even though you don’t use their service for three somehow you are still obligated to pay them money because my signature is on a piece of paper somewhere… That being said a little Segway someone should definitely try and make that business like a gym or a fitness center and try and do it a different way of course she would make a lot less money but you also wouldn’t be stopping past customers from never wanting to go to your place again because they OU thousands of dollars and obviously they’re never going to pay that and you’re never going to send them a bill to their actual house you know what I’m saying so you’re just scaring people off so yeah if someone can make it so like you pay weekly and if you don’t pay for a week that’s OK you’re just not allowed to use the services that week I mean I guess you just have to include a spiraling ticket thing like at the subway or something like that but guaranteed to have the most past customers come back and you don’t even realize how many people want this so actually you’d probably make more money than everywhere else in change the whole way people do it

I closed my Truebill account in April, because I was not getting a lot of value from the app, and also because I started to feel concerned with the app having my sensitive banking information. I not only cancelled my account and disconnected my bank account from Truebill, but I also deleted the app from my phone. This afternoon, I received a notification saying that I was charge $36 for a Premium Truebill account. Not only did I NOT subscribe for a premium account, but I had also deleted my account last year. I don't know why Truebill still had my bank account information, nor why they charged my account for this new Premium which I had NEVER subscribed or opted into, at any point even when I was using the app. I have attached the screenshots showing that my bank account had been disconnected in April . The last transactions available as you can see are from April . In addition, I had to re-open the entire account just to check why Truebill wrongly enrolled me unknowingly and unfairly into their Premium plan. I would like a full refund of my $36. I should be able to trust that when I disconnect and delete my account, they won't still keep that information in their records.

Truebill prompted me to negotiate the rate for my *** bil.1) they recommended that I have them "negotiate" a new rate on my Sirius subscription 2) I entertained the idea at their recommendation 3) they emailed me today to say that they "saved" me money, because *** was going to increase my subscription (with no evidence to support that)4) they claimed that they convinced *** to retain my current subscription fee, but they claimed they "saved" me money, and they want me to give them a portion of these imaginary "savings" ($60+)5) not only am I not paying them, I'm filing a Complaintsboard.com report, as this is clearly a fraudulent bait and switch enterprise. They should be ashamed of themselves. They essentially baited into the idea that they were going to negotiate a lower rate for my subscription. They then told me that they negotiated to maintain my current rate, but claim they actually saved me $200, because *** would have increased my rate. And they want me to pay a 30% surcharge for these imaginary "savings." This is a total scam.

Rocket Money Truebill offers a bill negotiation service, where they advertise that they will negotiate your existing bills with your service providers to get

Truebill offers a bill negotiation service, where they advertise that they will negotiate your existing bills with your service providers to get you a better rate. They charge a 40% fee for this service. So, if they save you $1, they charge you $0.40. But, Truebill does not get you a better rate than you could get yourself. I had them negotiate my internet bill. They told me they negotiated a great rate of $35/mo, better than the $50 I was currently paying and the $70 I would start paying soon. Based on their representations, I agreed to move forward with the "deal" they had gotten me. Then, I logged into my *** account and found out that the $35/mo "deal" they had negotiated was the standard plan that *** was offering. Truebill claimed they had gotten me a better rate than I was paying and that they were entitled to their fee. I disputed the charges because they hadn't actually negotiated a better price than was advertised by ***. Truebill refused to refund their fees and provided infuriating customer service. Truebill negotiations are a fraud. They do not negotiate better rates than you can find by going to the website yourself and they are not honest about the "deals" they are getting you.

I enrolled for services with true bill. They explicitly say that they are a free service however, I am having $62 withdrawn from my account every month. The memo states that it is going into a savings. I have no idea where that savings is or how I can access my money to withdraw any funds. There is no when available to speak to either by chat or by phone. I had to do a *** search to get their phone number only to be answered by a voice message saying that that incoming calls were not accepted at that phone number. Go figure. The chat box doesn't work either so I have over $800 that they have withdrawn from me that I have no idea where it is or how I can access that money. I am elderly I live on a fixed income and $800 is quite a bit of money for me.

Truebill randomly charged me $48.00 out of nowhere for a "Truebill Premium" subscription which I never signed up for. They charged me three days ago, even though I haven't been on the Truebill app in probably a month. I've seen that there have been many other cases like this, and I really hope I can get a refund cause this is an absolute scam. I have now cancelled my subscription but believe I should definitely be entitled to a refund since I've "used" this service for just 3 days.

I want to cancel my Truebill subscription because they do not deliver on saving me money. They make it impossible to cancel. When following the instructions they gave me, I cant cancel because there is no cancel subscription option in the app as they claim. I also cannot cancel in through my iPhone because, unlike any other app purchased through the App Store, Truebill does not have a cancellation option.

Rocket Money II had downloaded true bill to help save money and work on my finances

II had downloaded true bill to help save money and work on my finances. I had only had the app for a single day when the app said it would try to negotiate my bills, true bill claims they had my us cellular phone bill reduced by 160 and charged my card right then. This company should make things clear no where during the sign up process was I told that they would take money from my account without any notice at any given time, I never would have even entered in my banking info had I known they could do this. Due to true bill unexpectedly taking money out of my account my bank was then overdrawn and the fees just piled up, the app to save me money ended up costing me hundreds. That was not even the worst part, true bill charged me based on claims of lowering my phone bill however they did not get any of my bills lowered, I had gotten my phone bill lowered by a small amount each month and other than a dollar i had gotten reduced they didn't get anything lowered. I emailed true bill several times to try to get this resolved and telling them I had no warnings they would be pulling money out that day no one will respond to any of my emails. This company is a fraud don't provide your banking information to them.

The transaction occurred today on June 6 2022. It says truebill negotiated my *** satellite bill when I never contact or approved anyone to negotiate this bill. Someone from true bill did this without my permission and is trying to charge me 40% of the supposed saving. This is an unethical company do not use avoid at all costs. I had changed my *** account through my *** account and made changes to my account through their site on June 1 2022. I never authorized anyone from truebill to negotiate this contract with ***. I am beyond disappointed in this company.

Truebill attempted to negotiate a bill that I did not request for them to lower, but this caused a reduction in service which I had to immediately restore. Ultimately the cost of service was exactly the same. I showed to billing cycles of information and requested a refund explaining what happened and they keep giving me the run around and do not respond or keep asking me to wait more billing cycles. I expect a refund for. Fee based in a year of potential savings that I will not have because they screwed up a negotiation I did not request in the first place. This is unscrupulous business practice.
