My experience with Georgia Probate Law Group (GPLG) was extremely disappointing and costly. I initially paid a $4,000 retainer, which was later increased to $7,500 after they claimed my matter would be “complex” and involve heavy litigation. Over time, I paid approximately $9,400, yet no meaningful work was ever completed — and nothing was ever filed with any court.
I was assigned to Attorney Kimberly Mowbray, with Paralegal Vicki Porter assisting. From the start, the firm’s time entries were filled with internal “conferences,” “strategy meetings,” and “recap” emails between Kimberly and Vicki that produced no tangible results. The invoices show hours billed for reviewing the same materials multiple times and “researching” issues that were clearly outside the statute of limitations. When I questioned this, Kimberly could not provide a clear legal path forward and continually changed her explanations from month to month.
Despite repeated assurances that a complaint would be drafted and filed “soon,” GPLG never filed anything. Instead, the invoices show repetitive internal discussions, draft “recaps,” and communications billed at $200–$425 per hour, yet no filings, motions, or pleadings were ever produced. Even simple questions about which court had jurisdiction dragged on for months.
When I challenged the excessive and duplicative billing, I was told to address it with their billing department. I submitted a detailed billing dispute on February 11, 2025, pointing out the lack of progress and repetitive charges. The firm’s response was dismissive — they refused to discuss or refund anything, stating that since I filed a grievance with the State Bar of Georgia, they would only respond through the Bar.
After reviewing my experience and seeing numerous similar complaints from other clients (including cases documented through the Better Business Bureau), it’s clear this firm follows a pattern:
*Collect large retainers up front
*Bill heavily for internal “strategy” work
*Deliver minimal or no substantive progress
*Blame complexity or litigation when clients object
GPLG ultimately refunded a small remaining balance from my retainer but kept over $9,000 in fees for what amounts to administrative emails and internal discussions.
I’m sharing my experience so others can avoid the same outcome. If you are grieving, managing a trust, or dealing with probate in Georgia — do your research carefully. The glossy marketing and “A+ BBB rating” do not reflect the reality of how this firm operates.
