My husband has been receiving emails from Fling.com. I asked him what it was and he said it was spam. I went to the website and requested that the password under my husband's email address be reset. I have his password to his email account and was slightly upset that a password reset email was actually received from Fling.com. This to me proved that he signed up. So, I logged in and saw that his profile had his correct birthdate and stated that he registered on 11/25/2009 for "online flirting". From what I could tell, he never accepted any friend requests and it went no further than signing up and perusing the site. However, I was still upset and confronted him. He swore that he never signed up for the site. I asked how they could possibly know the birthdate associated to his email address which is his 1st initial+last name. He swore up and down that he did not do this. Then he made a point that on 11/25/09, we were actually staying at my sister's house and when did I ever see him on her computer? I never did see him on the computer and know he could not do this from work. Anyways, I am of a mind to believe that this website somehow got his email address and was able to get his birthdate. If you go to spokeo.com and search for yourself, you will see how this is entirely possible when you click on the "about" link. This website can pull all types of information for a fee as they access several different public records.
Yes its true Fling.com will get your name from your email and create a fake account with this info. I know this because I didnt sign up for one but it says I do and I also hit the the retrieve password link to send the password to the email provided and it does nothing cause it didnt create a password Duh.
Yeah my name was in my email and i got AUTO added as if i already had an account! Then within a day I got messages from girls who I suspect is nothing more than bots!
I have an alternate email address that I use to sign up for websites like ebay, overstock.com, etc. so I can have accounts with those companies without spamming my primary email. I only recently logged in to this alternate email, to discover hundreds of emails from a web site I've never heard of--fling.com. They took my email address verbatim (which is my first and last name with a period in between), and added some numbers at the end. They also had my birthday and zip code. I think some other company that I thought was legitimate must have sold my information to fling.com, or have been owned by the same company as fling.com. I definitely think you should trust your significant others who are saying they didn't set this up. I know for a FACT that I would NEVER set up this kind of account (and I'm pretty sure I would remember singing up), let alone set one up that describes me as a man seeking women (I'm a straight girl, and I'm single and no one could be messing with me because I've never told anyone that other email address). Fling.com intentionally makes it difficult to cancel your account, they are a deceitful and immoral company.
I have had the same issue I am male and this website somehow got my information and set up a fake profile for me with my birthdate and everything. The only reason i knew about i bc I was getting tons of spam mail from it. I'm thinking my info might of been sold and fling.com is some type of third party site. But i can't figure out how to delete this profile they've created for me if anyone knows let me know.
My husband of 10 years is making the same claims you did -- says it was a fishing trip on the part of the website to sucker him into joining by luring him with 8 women who supposedly were interested in him. His e-mail contains his real name, and he says that's how they got him. Do you have your real name in your e-mail address? Right now, I'm tending not to believe him, but if what YOU've said is true ... it could save our marriage. Tell me more.
Yeah because a popular dating website like Fling.com has nothing better to do than to put up other people's info without their permission just for the heck of it. Get a grip on reality, the dude obviously wasn't treating you right. It's okay we all understand.
Are you freaking kidding me? LMAO. This site isn't going to just make up a profile for you when they have no clue you exist. Either you did it or someone else did to break you up. Maybe you fiance did to get away from you!
