On my return trip from Florida, I decided to stay at the Marriott Bonvoy/Marriott Fairfield in Weldon, NC, for the evening of 10/17/25. The clerk informed me that the key card machine wasn't functioning and that when it was, she would bring the keys up to my room. She walked me to my room so that she could unlock the door. I wanted to go to dinner and also needed to get a phone cable from my car, but I didn't want to go through the inconvenience of having to contact the clerk and have her walk me up to the room again, so I thought that I would wait in the room until the key cards arrived. After an hour, it was too late to go out, and I wanted to go to bed, but I didn't want to be disturbed if the cards arrived. I ended up hungry and tired. I hadn't eaten since breakfast that morning. For the price that Marriott charges for a room, I believe that I should be financially compensated for such poor service and inconvenience.
Recommendation: Travelers would be better off staying in an economy hotel.
Financially compensated when YOU chose to wait? Nice try.
I don't want to be compensated for waiting. I want to be compensated for the inconvenience. It should not be unusual for a hotel guest to complain about not getting a room key. YOU are from California, so you are used to living in squalor.
