Duke Energy Duke energy deception

MUST READ………. beware of what may happen to you. This is an informative comment based on my experience and want people to know so they can make the best decision. After being with the A/C and heating plan with Duke Energy since 2021 and invested in the plan (not the only one I enrolled in at the time) thinking I had a piece of mind being that I live in Central Florida and it gets hot, the other day my A/C went out. They immediately denied the claim and after a struggle with a supervisor he approved a leak detection (Duke Energy cost of $260). After finding out that the leak was in the coil inside air handler the repair was immediately denied. Again, speaking to the supervisor with even a greater struggle I was told that I did not have a professional maintenance plan, and it was my neglect. Furthermore, he expressed that I did not have the right plan which when I enrolled at the time there was only one. He went on to say that they are a business, and they need to make money with no empathy or consideration to how long I have been with the protection plan. Ever feel like talking to an insurance company where they will do anything NOT to pay a claim and put the burden on you, well this is the same feeling. Duke Energy Monopolizes on A/C units under 10 years where they process a claim with the manufacturer pretending that the plan you enrolled in with them was beneficial. But if you’re A/C unit is over 10 years old THIS IS A SCAM, and I strongly do not recommend. Hope this helps you in understanding the DUKE ENERGY deception.

Recommendation: DO NOT use DUKE ENERGY heating and cooling plans

Duke Energy Contract workers

This probably won't even get read by Duke Energy. First of all, I appreciate the workers getting the power on here in Gastonia, NC, but I am SICK of the Contractors they send out! They have NO respect for your property! 3 times now they have come out and cut limbs out of the lines only to leave their mess for the property owners to clean up! They allow the limbs to fall down on whatever is below them and have broken a lot of things in my yard! They tear up your yard with their trucks and they never are sent back to clean up and repair! NOTHING is done about it. The photos are from my Mother's rental house that we are in the process of cleaning up. They just added to the work load! Something needs to be done about this!

Recommendation: Take photos of the Company truck and photos of all damage done and messes left behind.

Duke Energy Please read...

I use to think Duke was a passable energy company but not anymore. Notice the constant rate increases? Check this out...

DUKE CEO Lynn Good salary

2021--14M

*2022--21M*

I recommend you research the website and you will find they give out 20k grants(free money) to NGO's who disperse YOUR money to people in this country illegally. Duke had the nerve to send out emails asking people to donate money to help others pay for energy costs. WHAT? How about the CEO donate HER wealth and lower the cost where it is affordable for ALL citizens! Please contact Duke, your insurance commissioner and Governor DeSantis and file a formal complaint. This is absolutely appaling and unethical on every level!

PS. I'm a Florida resident where it gets 95 plus degrees!

Recommendation: Avoid this commie company if possible

Duke Energy Power outage

Every time it rains we're losing power because a limb or tree has fallen on a power line. My suggestion is that you bury the lines under ground or clear all limbs off of the power lines. This is the 3rd day in a row that our power has gone out! We have lost food because it takes 24 hours to restore. My child returns to school tomorrow. Duke Energy needs to come up with a solution. Very disappointing.

You shouldn't be paying such outrageous bills, especially when you're barely using any electricity. You need to get in touch with someone higher up at Duke Energy and demand they send a technician to check that meter immediately. Make sure they understand you're not backing down. This has to be fixed, and they need to know you're serious. Stay firm and keep pushing until they address this issue. Your age and situation should command respect and attention, and they need to make things right. Don't let them off the hook until they do.

Duke Energy Damage claim

As was widely disseminated on social media, I filed a claim for property damage during the recent power outage, complete with photos and replacement costs. The Duke Energy website says I will be contacted in 7 day and receive a confirmation, neither of which has happened. I have attempted to check the status of my claim, and Duke Energy directs me to Sedgewick, who then directs me to Duke energy. There is apparently no way for me to follow up on my claim!

Duke Energy Robbed secury deposit, billing adjust, denial of basic services of health emergency

I hope this letter finds you amidst a commitment to providing reliable and satisfactory services to your customers. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with Duke Energy have left me deeply frustrated and compelled to express my concerns through this letter. 1. Unsettled Security Deposit Refund: In March 2022, Duke Energy charged me a $155 security deposit, and despite numerous attempts to retrieve information on its status, I am yet to see any resolution. This lack of transparency and delayed response is disheartening and adds to my overall dissatisfaction with Duke Energy's customer service. 2. Service Transfer Denial: My recent attempt to transfer service to my new address has been met with unnecessary complications and delays. I urgently request your intervention to expedite the process, as further delays only exacerbate my frustration and inconvenience. 3. Financial Hardship Disregarded: As a single mother of two infants, I find it disheartening that my plea for understanding and cooperation during a period of financial hardship has fallen on deaf ears. Duke Energy's refusal to negotiate a reasonable payment plan shows a lack of empathy for customers facing genuine challenges. 4. Meter Reading Accuracy Concerns: My confidence in Duke Energy's meter readings has been shattered. I strongly believe that there are inaccuracies in the electricity consumption measurements at my residence. The refusal to address this concern and engage in a formal complaint and audit process only deepens my mistrust. 5. Potential Violation of State Regulations: I am aware of state regulations designed to protect consumers during health emergencies. It is disconcerting to consider that Duke Energy may not be fully adhering to these regulations, and I seek immediate clarification and reassurance in this matter. Please acknowledge the gravity of my concerns, and provide a swift and comprehensive resolution. Thank you for your immediate attention to this pressing matter.

Duke Energy Billing / Accounts payable

Old Account # [protected] in Rockwell NC and I sold my home on Nov. 9, 2018. I called in to turn off the power in my name and notify that the house was sold - no new billing to be sent to me and paid my final bill when printed & available. I rec'd a call from collections on 12/1/2023 that I owed a past due bill for the home @ 1825 Emanuel Church Road? I explained that I had sold the house and it apparently sold last summer "2022". The billing during the sale transition was transferred back into my name due to a previous RTO that was supposed to be removed in October 2015. I have a copy of the Settlement statement from my sale in 2018 and my request to get this fixed has been denied by Duke Power? Multiple calls and people later and still no help for the bill balance of $256.36. This is a fraudulent charge of a bill on my credit.

Claimed loss: $256.36 for the Past Due BillNumerous hours for setting on phone and trying to get help with this issue and unknowable amount $$ for the collections hit on my credit

Desired outcome: GEt this bill removed from my name and get my credit corrected with the Collections department notice and A Formal notification from Duke Power on letterhead that it has been taken care of and the bill does not belong to Rebecca J. Hughes

Duke Energy Final bill

Date: 12/06/2023
From: Richard L. Howell
7739 Visionary Ct
Manassas, VA 20112
Me.
To: Duke Energy Complaint Department
Reference: Account: Richard L. Howell
1207 E. Jefferson St
Brooksville, FL 34601
Account Number: [protected]
I received a “Final Bill” Billing Summary dated Nov 3, 2023.
I am disputing this final bill because I notify Duke Energy in July, August, and September that I did not own the property since 2007, and that the electric bill should be in the current owner’s name. I explained that for a while after not directly owning the property, my wife operated S&A Beauty Salon at 1205 E. Jefferson, and I allowed the account to remain in my name during this period. My wife stopped her operation in 2018. On multiple occasions I notified Duke Energy of this situation and asked it for assistance in getting the account out of my name and into the current owner’s name to avoid losing my deposit of $555.00.
Your representative supposedly sent out a notice informing the current receiver of the bill mailed to 1207 E. Jefferson that the service would be discontinued in September due to the request of the current account holder. However, I noticed that the bill kept going up higher and higher, and it was still in my name in October. I notified the current owner to contact Duke Energy and pay all current fees in order too not interfere with the refunding of my deposit, he said he would. I have had no affiliation with the property, basically, since 2007 and my wife since 2018. I explained that this was plenty of time for the new owner to take control of the account and get it out of my name.
The Duke Energy Representative said she set up for all services to be discontinued on September 1, 2023.
However, the “Final bill” I received states for service Oct 10 – Nov 1. The Bill Summary states:
Previous Amount Due: $3,042.25
Payment received: $2050.00 (paid by current owner of the property or his representative)
Current Electric Charges: $421.79 (erroneously being billed to me)
Deposit: -$555.00 (The entire amount should be refunded to me)
Other Charges and Credits: -$11.03 (The entire amount should be refunded to me)
Taxes: $101.09 (due by the current owner and new account holder)
Total Amount Due Nov 27 $938.20 (due by the current owner and not bill to me as a final bill.)
I explained thoroughly to the Duke Representative what the situation was and that I had no affiliation with the property in the last 5 years. I explained that any amount left over at the time the new account is established belongs to the new account and should not be passed on to me as a final bill. I explained to Duke Energy’s Representative that I needed Duke Energy’s assistance by not granting a new account until the current owner cleared the entire bill, and without interfering with refunding of my deposit of $555.00.
Duke Energy, I believe through any normal customer relations efforts, should have made a physical presence on the property to determine who was using the property and its services. It did not. It appears that Duke Energy is attempting to defraud me of my Deposit and collect on a bill that is not mine in the process.
Duke Energy has me billed for $938.00 that belongs to the current user. It appears that Duke Energy policy allows for the actual user of the services at 1207 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville, Fl 34601, a means to pass the bill to the previous account holder without due process.
I am requesting that Duke Energy bill the current property the $938.20 that the property owner has used, and not bill this to me, who has not owned or been affiliated with the property in over 5 years.
Duke Energy owes me my $555.00 deposit plus any interest accrued, in full.
Richard L. Howell
[protected]

Claimed loss: $555.00 Plus Interest (deposit funds)

Desired outcome: Release my refund of $555.00 plus any interest earned. and, assigned the billing amount of $938.20 to the appropriate account

Duke Energy Power bill

I am a Duke Energy customer who’s noticing a level of unwillingness to work with those who are indigent and on a fixed income. I’m wondering where all the helpful attitude and energy went that was present during the pandemic. But of course that was not going to be a consistent effort on the company’s part once they had the opportunity to cease and see said energy

Desired outcome: Ability to allow those who have paid off high bills in the past to continue to enter into payment agreements. I was told I maxed out on them for the year and with power bills getting higher I don’t understand.

My mother-in-law moved in August from the apt at Account #[protected]) 38576 Valley Oaks Cir Apt 106, Zephyrhills, FL 33540. Duke Energy Multiple unannounced visits to my daughter's residence

Over the past few week's employees from duke energy have made unannounced visits to a home I own that my daughter currently resides. I am sending this complaint obviously for the overwhelming number of unsolicited attempts to get her to the door. At one point one of these two came to the home twice in the same day. These visits again are unannounced and with a company like duke you would think that a pre notification would be sent to customers like my daughter advising of these visits. I asked my daughter, and she has no knowledge of any notifications.

The second thing I would like to mention is the first person in the attached video walks up to the house and opens the screen door. In today's society this behavior is unacceptable and frankly very unprofessional. After he did that, it was then he stated he didn't see this (ring doorbell). Once he rang the doorbell turned his back and leaned on the post. The second individual waved his hand stating duke energy and he two leaned on the house. This is unacceptable behavior and a poor representation of their employer.

Desired outcome: advise why Duke Energy has made a number of unannounced and unsolicited visits to my home in which my daughter lives Advise on why Duke Energy seemingly made no announcement to customers of these upcoming visits and why.

Duke Energy Monthly electric charges

I have had a solar system installed since 2018. At the start my monthly bill was around $12.00. Sometime in the future Duke was allowed to increase their monthly charge to $35.99. Starting in July according to a Duke representative the power generated by my solar system had suddenly decreased. In July I had net meter summary reserve over 1,000 KH. Since then the reserve has dropped to zero and their rep told me my system is no longer registering. I paid more than $250.00 to have a solar representative come to my home and check the entire system. That rep went through the entire system and advised me that everything was working properly and the electric meter was running in reverse. I spoke ro a Duke representative today and they cannot tell me why they are no longer registering any electricity from my solar system and could not tell me why my entire reserve has been deleted. In my opinion, Duke is screwing me and is probably doing the same to many others. My monthly charge is now doubled. I want a refund of their overcharges and I want then to refund the money it cost me to have the system checked.

Claimed loss: $286.50

Desired outcome: Refund and correction of meter reserve

I need to talk to someone about my retirement account. I have called a total of 7 (seven) times today, Thursday 10/12/23, starting at 9:20 am EST. and last call at 2:42pm same day. I get transferred to the pension department and I get an automated message saying the regular working hours are from 8am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and to call back during these hours.

I seriously believe either someone laid out today, or there needs to be a wellness check in the HR department. I think they fell out.

Please contact me, Diana Turner in York, SC. I just called customer service and updated all my information, you should have it on file.

Thank you

Duke Energy Solar energy credits

I rented a home partly because it had solar panels and therefore a lower electric bill. Duke Energy did not make it easy even though the previous owners had been using the panels and all that was needed was a simple change of user. I filled out the paperwork as requested and, after a delay was told that since one letter was wrong in the address, it would have to be redone. The error was that Circle was misspelt as Curcle. I emailed them with the correct spelling but this was not acceptable, Eventually I called and was on the phone for two hours to finally get it completed only to be told that they could not backdate the application so I ended up paying the full amount for two months. This clearly was a delaying tactic, as is evidenced by the lack of any attempt to follow up. The previous occupiers had used the panels and so it should have been easy to switch the service over.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement for the first two months of solar credits.
