On August 28, 2026, a DTE service representative came out my home because a tree branch had fallen on the wires attached to my house. He removed the tree branch off the wires but failed to inspect the wires. On 09/09/26, this failure caused a Power Surge within my entire house. When I called DTE, I was told that they don't service Power Surges and that I had to call an electrician. I called Metro Electric on 09/09/26. Their electrician found that the neutral wire had not been connected which caused the Power Surge. I called DTE and told the receptionist what Metro Electric told me (Metro Electric's electrician was nice enough to make sure I explained the situation correctly). However the receptionist could not tell me if someone would be out right away. Their electricians came out around 4:30 that day and saw that the neutral wire had not been properly repaired. They fixed it. However, when they reported that the problem had been corrected, they failed to mention that the problem had been fixed due to the faulty neutral wire; instead, they reported that it was due to a tree. When I reported that their report was false, the receptionist said that they were going to go by what the electrician reported. If possible, beware of DTE workers. If it had not been for God's grade I would have lost my home. All of my appliances shut down, the smell within my home was horrible. It has taken me several days to get my home back together due to damages. Always check to make sure that they are accurately reporting the problem and the result; get a copy of the report.
