When I was searching for an apartment, I stumbled upon one that I really liked. The leasing agent was kind enough to explain the fees involved in applying for the apartment. There was this thing called a "lease initiation fee" that I had to pay in order to apply. The guy I talked to assured me that this fee was refundable. The next day, I had to withdraw my application because of some unexpected family issues. I tried reaching out to the same leasing agent, but he wasn't available. So, I contacted another person from the company and they told me that I couldn't get my $200 "lease initiation fee" back because I withdrew my application instead of being declined. After a few days of struggling to get in touch with someone from the company, I finally managed to speak to someone who could help me with my refund. They explained that I withdrew my application before the whole process was completed, so I wasn't approved or denied. And yet, they still charged me $200 for a service they didn't even provide.

Core Communities don't care bout the safety of its residents. I've lived at the Villa Darvi apartments for over a year, always paid rent on time, been a great tenant. A neighbor moved in next door in January and since then I've had over 6 packages stolen. I put up a camera and found out that it was her taking them off my doorstep and stealing them. (As well as opening my mail- a federal crime) I expressed my concern to the manager as well as one other person in the office. I told them I didn't feel safe, and I shouldn't have to live in fear that if I take this to the police this girl will key or wreck my car in some way. (They don't have cameras watching the cars outside) They said this wasn't their problem multiple times and wouldn't give me the info to talk to the owner, nor let me out of my contract. I said I could get a police report filed and they didn't care. They said I'd have to give a 30 day notice AND pay $1990 to get out of my contract. This is ridiculous that they didn't care and expect me to pay nor let me leave when I want when it's their other tenants that are making it unsafe to live. This shouldn't be a policy if my safety and property is at risk. Horrible attitudes and management. They also take multiple weeks to resolve simple issues and don't follow through on what they say they'll do.
