I want complaint about my car toyota vios engine every time when driving to 80kmj engine appears knocking sound. I complained to the Toyota Segambut service center, but they give a stupid reason, say this is a very common thing. I was driving a car just one year, meter reading only 14000km..

The technician say the problem is oil, want to change other brands of oil, last time i use SHELL V-power 97, then now i changed to petronas Primax 95, but still the same after I changed. IS THIS ENGINE KNOCKING SOUND IS RELATED TO THE OIL PRODUCT OR IS THE TOYOTA CAR ENGINE PROBLEM.

Then I have asked my cousin work at toyota SARAWAK, he said that this problem can be done.IS THAT THE WEST MALAYSIA SERVICE NO GOOD, LAZY?
Last time i compaint the other thing, i waste me 1 day time to repair. In the early of morning i send the car to services centre, then wait until afternoon only repair my car, Is that efficient?we need to book the appointment and need to wait for so long time, IWat for we need to book appointment...

I hope toyota malaysia can solve the problem to me...I very angry for this matter...

Hi,

I bought my Vios recently, and only realise after couple of weeks that tingling sound coming from the bottom of the car when i off the engine. I had compliant to the Toyota Services center but they can, t fix the problem. They suspect the tingling sound come from the exhaust pipe and can't fix it. Any ideal on how to fix the problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I have 2013 vios and engine start knocking at 150K. From what i see knocking issue for vios actually it is due to carbon buildup.

What i have done is :

1. Change oil every 5k (use semi 5w30)
2. Use toyota injector cleaner (use it before and after service). Every 2.5k mileage on ODO meter
3. Replaced spark plug
4. Replaced air filter
5. Clened MAF sensor

FYI, my car just 3 times only service by SC. After that i do servicing by myself (dont trust SC)...SORRY...

There is nothing to do with use high octane grade oil + expensive quality engine oil. Just use semi toyota engine oil and change it frequently, if u start hear knocking engine sound start to buy injector cleaner, change engine oil then run with injector cleaner again and change engine oil again around 2.5k, u guys can try first...hopefully this helps...

I bought my Vios TRD last year. After the previous service, I m not sure whether it's my driving style or the car problem.. I realise that there're some "vibration" noise came out from the front part of the driver seat when the RPM reached above 1.5, below 2.0. This only occur during the engine pick up period, eg., after I started to drive from a stop of a traffic light @ passing through bumps.
I brought back the car to toyota s.c., they mentioned that it should be my daylight cable, and they've tighten it up for me. since then, I tried to drive again, and i realize the noise still persists.
anyone here driving TRD also facing the same problem...?

I was a vios 2008 owner which I had engine knocking sound when the it clock 20000km. I compliant to the SC but was told due to low quality fuel in Malaysia which I don't buy that because the user manual clearly stated Ron95 is ok. I sold off the car after 2 years and switch to Nissan. I have very high expectation for Toyota which after a few years 2015 I was hoping the new vios face lift would have had this problem fixed. Yesterday I brought my mother in law to a take a look at the Vito's face lift and I purposely ask this engine knocking sound issue but I was very disappointed that the sales person telling the same old story due to low quality fuel in Malaysia. Seem like this problem is not fixed yet. Hopefully Toyota can take this seriously and do something before losing more customer to their competitor like Honda, Nissan, Kia and so on.

I went to service my Toyota Vios yesterday for KM19, 292 which cost me RM813.81 for parts n labour charges.. There is an item named "V Belt" which I was advised to change when I complained about the squealing noise . This noise was there since the first service and goes off for a while after service n back again. I complained whenever I sent the car for service and I was told the belt was loose n they tighten it but the noise came back after awhile. Yesterday I was told that the belt cracked n I need to change to which I have to agree cos no choice. I have another Toyota Vios which I bought in the same year with 1 month difference n I changed the 'V Belt" for this car when it performed for KM43, 034. My understanding was drive belts will last KM60, 000 to Km100, 000 with normal use which my Honda n Hyundai cars have achieved that. Aren't Toyota genuine Drive Belts designed for longevity n performance? Whats the difference between KM19, 292 n Km60, 000? Is KM19, 292 considered as longevity n good performance to Toyota? This is quality issue in the Drive Belt . Kindly look into this b4 your customers lose confidence in Toyota Cars. Appreciate your reply.

I just has my toyota vios services in Segambut branch with max advance check services which cost me around 1300, but after get my my car it has some sound. When send back to check, fix the bird sound then come the belt sound. They told me was cause by the water pump after changing the vbelt for water pump. Now they ask me to fix the water pump. I don't think that is a good idea to change the water pump just after the max advance check services, what is the purpose of them doing max advance check services, make more money? Fix one thing then another issue some more ...then it will never ended...toyota, please make sure your service center have some good and responsible technical and consultant staff there.

I have the same problem with my (Toyota Vios J, Auto 2012). I have repeatedly complain this issue to the Penang, Service Center. But they say during Test drive they found no problem.

The sound came from engine & sound like 'Clak, Clak' sound appear on high speed driving when I press on the pedal. I went to the Toyota Service Center couple of times without any improvement on this matters.
This is very disappointing as my wife drive KIA Forte, the car engine perform even better without those weird sound.

I hope toyota malaysia can solve the problem to me...I very angry for this matter...

This toyota vioses ( mine is a J spec, Auto, 2009 ) is known to be giving funny noises here and there. Mine gave me ' cloak, cloak ' sound whenever I presses and releases the brakes when the car is running slowly ( at around 30 KM/H ). Also when making sharp turns around corners inside a covered car park, I can hear ' Woot, woot ' sound at the rear, seems like from the abosrbers or rear brakes. Have sent it to toyota SC in Jalan 217, PJ. I have make 5 trips there and the last thing they did was to change my front left brake calipers ( to eliminate the ' cloak ' sound. Really unprofessional service by the SC there cos they scratched my car when a wooded board fell on top of my car bonnet. They just simply apply paint with a chinese brush over the scratched area. Moreover I also notice that those mechanics in toyota SC in Jalan 217, PJ drives your car on top of the service ramp ( use to jackup your car ) by running over those rubber support blocks. They did the same when reversing your car out of the ramps, without removing the rubber blocks. This can spoil the shock absorbers. Don't believe me ? next time use your camera to record it when the cars are driven onto the ramps, espically in Toyota SC Jalan 217, PJ

My wife's Toyota Vios also having the same problem. We sent to Toyota Puchong Jaya. The technician said that that's due to the engine oil that we are using. We used the normal one for the 1st two service, then we changed to semi-synthetic, but the sound still remain. What's wrong with the car?can anyone from Toyota help?

Mac

i have this abnormal sound as well...now i am complaining to Toyota web site, and they mention will expertise my case..hope will get answer soon.
beside, they did solved my case. But only temporary. How, clean my bearing (not sure is piston or start plug) after clean the sound will disappear.
The reason they give me is Petrol i am using. I used Ron 95, where this will hv more carbon than Ron 97. That the reason this sound coming from. and he mention VIOS shd go for Ron 97 instead Ron 95. But the user manual stated Ron 95 is fine for VIOS.
here will be the common case for toyota. Question, since there are a lot of common problem for this car. Why they are not looking for it. We should complain at the same time for this common problem

Usually, this problem is caused by a worn wheel hub bearing and not the engine. In most cases, when the knocking sound just appear on high speed driving, the problem is with the wheel hub bearing. Try to have your bearing replaced. To check if the sound is really coming from your engine, put your engine on hi-rev or about 6000 rpm, if the sound that your hearing is not evident, most probably, it is from a worn wheel hub bearing.
