Tesco customer care

Hi my name is David Hines.

I am a loyal customer to tescos at the beggers bush sutton coldfield where i do my shopping on a regular basis.

Today monday the 8th June about 16.45 approx i went to grab a few things i needed this included petrol for today as i would do my weekly shopping tomorrow Tuesday 9th June for the week.

I grabed a basket and had a walk around, before long i had what i needed (pork-chops and a tin of mushy peas).
I made my way to the last 10 items or less counter near to the main doors and joined a small cue, as i did the lady behind the counter said "can you do me a favour and tell the next person who joins the cue we are closed" i noded in agreement but was a little concerned with this request after all, I'm not a member of staff.
She then said to me "actually can you put the bar across for me"
I looked around but couldn't see anything, she pointed behind me and said "that bar behind you"
I went over and tried to pull it across but couldn't do it, i nodded to myself and just carried on waiting in the cue, but told her that i couldn't pull it across, she then said just pull the middle up, i tried again but couldn't do it. by this point i was getting a little embarrassed.
The lady behind the next till down behind her turned around and said (with a funny look on her face) dont worry...ill do it.
I started to feel more and more embarrassed, then the shopper in front of me walked over to the bar and pulled it up straight away, she told me how it was done and i said to her...well done.
There was a look on the till Lady's face i couldn't work out?

I paid for my groceries and left the store humiliated.

Reading this you may not think it is much but if you were there it would of been obvious to you how embarrassing it was for me, and humiliating it would of been.

Customer care?
This brings a whole new light on the subject. Its one thing not serving people in a professional manner but trying to get the customer to help you in your job and if the customer cant do it, they end up feeling humiliated and embarrassed.

I know its only one person its happened to but if its not, and this sort of thing is happening every day, it doesn't bare thinking, about especially in this current climate.

Ive spent allot of my hard earned money in that branch but i will not be going back there again because of this incident.
If what you read doesn't seem that bad to you does the fact that branch in beggers bush sutton colfield has lost a valid customer for ever?

I'm not the sort of person to complain unless i feel that i need some sort of explanation as to why i had to go through this.
I have worked in customer care myself for about six years in a well know holiday resort so i know the value of customer care and the impact it can have on customers or guests.

Thanks for your time

I hope to here from you soon, or maybe the branch manager (not by phone) with an explanation as to why this was aloud to happen to me.

Thanks

Kind Regards

David Hines

Tesco do have those.

But it is obvious that this was in a smaller store where they do not have conveyor belts but instead have a small basket loading area on each till - and rather than this till is closed signs have the checkout barriers which prevent access to a till completely.

I agree with the complainee. This gentleman tried to help close the queue but it backfired and the other staff member was impolite. Other Supermarket cashiers are supplied with a "This Till is Closed" notice they can place on the conveyor to avoid inconveniencing customers. Tesco should take note.

Are you joking? The cashier only asked you for a favour. Judging by the fact that your fellow customer was able to pull it quickly out shows just how simple it actually is and having worked at Tesco before i know full well that Customers would prefer that than the cashier wasting time by jumping off the checkout and doing it themselves which can take a few minutes with having to sign off and then back onto the checkout.

I personally think this complaint is a bit silly.

Tesco voucher rebate

I received your promotional brochure on 4/5/09. It stated that, you will get RM10 voucher rebate at customer service center if you buy electrical appliance above RM100 in a single receipt. So, on the 6/5/09 I went to your store to buy an exhaust fan amounted RM112.00 and your staff asked me to redeem rebate voucher at the customer service centre. After I have made payment, I went to collect my voucher but your not any of your staff knows about this voucher. Then she asked me to bring the brochure for her to refer. The next day I brought the brochure for her and she had been contacting the KL office .After waiting for more then an hour there is still no answer from them.Later I left my phone no for them to contact me if there is any feedback. But for your information until today I still haven't receive any feed back from your store. And today i had call your Tesco Malacca branch to get any feedback from them but there is still no any feedback from you all. I have been waiting for 2weeks just to get a RM10 voucher. This just can show that you have an inefficiency and poorly-manage system in your store.
I hope from this complaint I will get a faster feedback from you.

Tesco bad service

I am writing to complain about the horrible mess on the canal path at the rear of Tesco's branch at Tring Road in Aylesbury, Bucks.

This canal runs alongside the rear of the Tesco's Store in Tring Road, Aylesbury, right next to their carpark and recycling enclosure.

On Boxing Day a family walk turned into horror at this sight. The following day we notified the Tesco's store in person - the initial response was 'it is nothing to do with us - it is a council matter', eventually we spoke to the manager who would 'look into it.'

We walked along the canal on Sunday (7th Jan) and the situation remains unchanged - if anything it is worse! No effort has been made to clear the original rubbish and more is escaping from their recycling.

I have now made the local Newspaper and Radio Stations aware of the problem and was interviewed by the Buck Herald yesterday and Three Counties Radio this morning.

Surely, we all have a responsibility to keep the environment clear of rubbish - as we are told 'every little helps' when are Tesco's going to do their little?

Tesco no full refund

I ordered a bouquet of flowers for delivery to my mother in time for easter on tesco.co.uk. I selected her address on the pull down menu of addresses. After I had input the order information, but before confirming the order, I decided to change the text to be printed on the greetings card which was to be attached to the delivered package. This meant going back a screen. I made the amendment and then confirmed the order. However, when I received the confirmatory email I noticed that it had my own home address quoted as the delivery address. I immediately emailed tesco customer services to ask for the delivery address to be amended. They eventually replied a day later that I should cancel the order on line, which I did. After a further day's delay I received another email stating that they were unable to cancel the order, but that I could get a refund by returning the goods according to the instructions that would come with the package. When the package arrived, I found that! There were no instructions on returning it. When I emailed customer services again, they flatly refused any refund, depite their earlier email offering a refund. I find it unbelievable that a commercial organisation that prides itself on a superior level of customer service is reneging on a promise made in writing to make afull refund in respect of this order.

Tesco tesco penang sells without a price tag & dishonesty of internal staff!

Four days ago, I was attended by ms. Hajar a female cashier, on the check-out counter (receipt no: [protected]). One of the items I intended to buy, is a tesco branded maroon comforter with motives. Before I checked out, I noticed there isn't a price tag on all of the comforters, but I thought they might have the bar code up at every check-out counter as this is the way every hyper market or store should operates; else why display items without a price for sale and serve confusion to customers? It is bad enough she asked if I really wanted to buy this and told me, a customer, to go get another with a tag, only later realized and blinked the counter number for assistance, and have me waited over 5minutes for another male staff to search for the tag! The distance between the counter and the comforter's promo section, is barely 200meters! She also suggested me to make separate payments for the goods which has been scanned while waiting for the comforter's code in order to avoid queues behind me. As a consumer, I should not be paying 2 separate bills on the account of tesco's inefficiency and poorly-manage system. Secondly, it is very incovenient in regards to cash transactions. Thirdly, it is wasting time. This matter occurs time and again over the years of patroning in tesco penang. I was hoping for a change in better service but I was wrong. Thus, I decided to report this incident to the customer service department and to my surprise, there isn't any forms or the comment box to be found on the counter! I have to ask for all that just to express my concerns! I am very disappointed with the poor service rendered, the inefficiency, rudeness and inconsiderate of tesco staffs and all the unnecessary hassles! Not to mention, ms. Hajar accidentally tore one of my fruit bags by not handling it with care in the scanning process! I would also like to highlight that many consumers noticed that tesco staffs from the perishable department has quietly and suspiciously peeled, packed and tagged fresh fruits and vegetables as reduce to clear item and set it apart in a cart awaiting their accomplice or family member to come. When we wanted to pick from that cart, the lady told us it isn't for sale anymore; only later we lingered to discover the dishonesty of tesco employees. I find that the managers are not capable of running the store. Most of the staffs has no courtesy towards the customers. This evening, I went to order a number of doughnuts for an event tomorrow, thus, the tesco bakers told me to pay the full amount in order to place an order. As I adjourned the check-out counter in front, I was taken aback when the lady cashier asked me this silly question, "why can't you buy now?" even after I told her it is for an event tomorrow! I had to wait for over 5 minutes again just to get the manager to walk to the check-out counter. When he did, he asked me "who gave you this price tag?". I find this hillarious! It is impossible for customers to print out the store barcode by themselves! He even remarked that no customer has ever done this and that I should refer to the customer service department! How rude! As expected of the terrible service, he made me stood at the counter waiting for nothing and walked off without confirming that it is done and that I could collect as appointed! (receipt no: [protected] date: 20/3/2009 time: 22:14) now that I have gone through all these bad experiences, tesco hypermarket is at the very bottom of my shopping list!

Before this my friends always ask me not buying anything from tesco as they has experience very bad services, but I keep saying I enjoy buying goods at tesco as their shop organize nicely and easy for search the goods, but today I m totally agreed with my friend, first and second time I just let it go but for the third time, I can bear anymore because they so rude, this complaint I address specially to tesco staff bukit mertajam, and maybe after this I need to reconsider buying goods at tesco or just go to other supermarket, I know tesco won't shut down just because loose only one customer, but logically if I can post complaint here, there no guarantee I do not tell to my friends, relatives or anybody about my bad experiences with tesco and this is not good for tesco, I'm feel bad to tesco as to facing this bad image just because few rude staff but this only way I can express my story, if this thing keep happen, I don't surprise if others also start switch to other supermarket. So I hope after this tesco customer don't experience something like this anymore

This store is terrible. The Costa coffe machine is out of order more often than not. They never ever have any pastries on Monday and Friday mornings and on Monday mornings their sandwich selection is whatever was left over from the weekend. The ONE cashier(female) is bad mooded, sullen and unfriendly. There are never enough staff and when they do have staff in they stand gormlessly in front of the shelves pretending to be stocking things and getting in your way.

hi as a regular shopper at my local Tesco i have been getting more and more dismayed by the lack of products on the shelves on a Friday at 12 noon. as i shop after i finish work i do expect that the store is stocked with basic things like bread but oh no there was none of the brand that i wanted so they have obviously not ordered enough and then i to my surprise and great disappointment there were no egg custard tarts and as a friend of mine was visiting and can really only eat those i was most upset, however i then went to purchase a couple of bottles of rose wine only to find the shelf empty and the same thing with crackers, so i can tell you i was most aggrieved to put it mildly. alas this seems to be occurring week in week out and i am now thinking of going else where.also there was nobody to help either not a very good store at all i think so thanks Tesco .

Yeah, staffs kept good offers for their relatives n themselves.Electrical clearance r no more for customers, only for staffs, I was told when I ask a staff regarding a trolley full of electrical appliances.I always have to find a price checker to check on suspicious prices before I am caught having to pay a higher price than stated. Thus tiring, n time consuming buying at Tesco.Do the big Mat Salleh boss read these feedbacks?I'll personally inform him when I see him in his rounds.

Firstly I will have to agree with Miss Low. Tesco service on a whole has gone down the drain, with exception of a few staffs. I have personally met gentleman who is ever willing to help in Tesco Damansara. But when he is not there it becomes difficult for me to get assistance from anyone. And I actually have seen staff removing Reduce To Clear items, maybe to keep it for themselves. If you really want your opinions heard, go to Tesco Malaysia's website and send out and email to them. I know it will reach the right people.

For Dayenne, Tesco has since stopped making that mistae. Nowdays they even publish limits in their newspaper ads. No need to worry about that. Now all you have to worry about is maing sure that the prices you are paying for is as stated on the price labels shown on the shelves.

For Mr. Solomon, it was not right for the manager to do so, I agree, and what you did what absolutely within your rights, but blasting a country because it is a Muslim nation is not a good impression as this was just an isolated case. Unless the whole time you were in Malaysia you experienced the same attitude from our people?

Tesco policy canceled without my knowledge!

I rang tesco car insurance on monday 25th february 2008 relating to my direct debit mandate and my policy been canceled without my knowledge, and that tesco had failed to inform me of such an action. On monday 10th september I rang tesco to insurance to inform them of my change of address, I know this because it was the day I rang and changed all the companies I have direct debits with including my bank. Also I have proof of this.

When I called tesco insurance they ran through their normal security check procedure and one of the questions is to relate my current address to the operator, I did this and my address (one listed above) was verified and I continued my conversation with the operator, jenny cunningham, to whom I spoke to twice.

I did this three times in total whilst I was gathering information from other sources, after each time I rang back the security checks were verified with the above address. On the last occasion I was transferred to an operator called geri, a customer services manager, who then put me through to the account manager damien as my problem related to accounts.

When I asked him to which address he had sent all the notifications to about my policy he told me my old address of 30 cantilever gardens in warrington wa1 2gu, from october 2007 to the present time. I was correct in stating that I no longer lived at that address because I had informed tesco of my new address on monday 10th september 2007 as I have explained earlier.

This gentleman continued to bereft me on the telephone refusing to enter into any further conversation in relation to this matter, his manner was one of complete amateur not worthy of the position of manager where he would, of course repeat any training course to any of his team if they had spoke with this attitude to any customer of tesco.

I am appalled and disgusted that such a company of the stature tesco has, has not recognized this mans failure to even comply with the basics of civility when speaking to customers. To continue damien stated that such a mandate was canceled by either myself or the bank on one of the two dates (he did not seem to know which one himself) wednesday 3rd or thursday 4th october 2007, I contacted my bank to see if this had happened they informed me that it had not. I have written proof of this from my bank.

My other concern is that on thursday 27th september 2007 I paid an outstanding bill of £74.39 when it lapsed on tuesday 4th september 2007 and set up a new direct debit mandate with tesco. My bank never received this mandate from tesco they have only ever received one direct debit mandate which was the 1st june 2006, I have written proof of this from my bank. It obvious really how can I cancel something that was not set up in the first place!

Further damien then kept on reiterating that according to the information on his screen they did and therefore it must be the banks error, my bank is adamant that this is not true, because only myself and tesco have the authorization to cancel such a mandate and as I have stated I certainly would not risk driving my car without insurance.

After my conversation with this demeaning manager the conversation came to a natural end, I continued with my research on this error by tesco and when I rang back I went through the security check as I did many times before and on the same day monday 25th february 2008, and would you believe it when I gave my present address, like I had done so on the many occasions previously, I was denied access to any conversation because my address was wrongly given and when I was asked had I another address I gave my old address 30 cantilever gardens and was accepted. This sends alarm bells ringing for me with data protection as this accounts manager is entrusted to handle tesco customers personal details and I find this a very inconvenient coincidence as up until speaking with this accounts manager, damien; my address (the new one and my current one) had been accepted on several occasions during the security checks that day, but after highlighting this error to him my address has changed. Furthermore why would this security match have been changed after speaking to this accounts manager damien also has there been a cover up by this manager to hide an error on his departments behalf?

I had same problem with KwickFit car insurance they canceled my policy after my monthly premium bounced and didnot tell me luckily my bank sent me a letter to inform me it hadnt been paid and I called them to make the payment they told me it was canceled.

Trading Standards should help if enough of us complain, its illegal to drive a car without insurance so surely thease companies cannot be aloud to keep doing this! They could at the very least call or email the customer out of courtisy!

My sisters car insurance was canceled by CHURCHILL for not recieving her no claims bonus in time! they recieved her no claims bonus the day they canceled her policy and didnt tell her either she was driving around for months without insurance and they hadnt even gave her the money back for the years premium she paid, this is still an ongoing dispute.

i too had a very similar problem, however mine got much worse...

i was pulled over by the police and the office asked me if i had insurnace, which i replied yes i did, and subsiquently showed the office my insurance certificate, the office then checked out the policy and i was told that it was not valid due to non payment, this is because tesco took my card details incorrectly, still sent out he certificate and didnt notify me that payment had not been taken nor that the policy was cancelled!

which in turn put me bang to rights with the police, however sympathetic the officers were, i had my car towed, i was fined £200! and got 6 penalty points, on top of this i had to pay £300 for a new insurance cert (granted i would have had to pay this anyhow!), and also £118 to get my car released the following day.

Not best impressed by tesco, who otld me i was sent post detialling this from tesco, but proof of postage is NOT proof of delivery.angry? you bet.

Tesco are cheap insurance, but their admin and customer services lack very badly.

Tesco tesco allow their customers in china to buy and butcher live turtles at home!

Tesco are selling live turtles for food in their supermarkets in China. A customer can choose to have the turtle they have purchased butchered alive in the supermarket, or they can choose to take the turtle home, to end its life in whatever manner they choose, before cooking and eating it.

It is currently being challenged that the killing of the turtle in-store is not humane, that is awaiting research results.

Tesco, of course, are unable to guarantee that the killing of the live turtle taken home is humane.
By allowing their customer to leave with the live turtle, Tesco are shunning their responsibility of ensuring a humane killing.
Tesco therefore can be seen to be willing to allow possible suffering and cruelty to the live turtle they sell, in their search for profit.

We have raised a Petition against Tesco selling live turtles here:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/518761759?ltl=1171838829

If any of you are unaware of how turtles can be killed in China, or feel that there is not an urgent need to sign this petition, here is a VERY GRAPHIC animation to help show you why your signature is very much needed.

http://www.turtlesco.com/anims/turtlesco.html

Tesco have turned its back on UK values of animal welfare.
It has turned its back on the UK customers that made it who it is, many of those have now boycott Tesco until they cease to sell live turtles in China.

I do wonder how many of their UK customers are they willing to lose, in their search for popularity and profit in China ?

Kind regards, Paul N Davis

Over the last few years tesco in Gt.Dunmow has been removing more and more Market Value items, and even now their relatively new discount brands are disappearing to be replaced by more expensive items.
Obviously tesco's in Gt. Dunmow think this is a wealthy area - maybe a few are - but the majority are normal people.
We also suffer as there is no competion from other supermarkets in the area -causing them to put their prices even higher -pertol is a prime example.
I want to see the Gt Dunmow store stock more market value items -as believe it or not some of us are really suffering in this reccession.

Laws really need to be enforced in China. The best thing the US can do is stop importing any food products from China. The dog food contamination really made the news and that was a neglect from China that killed many innocent pets. Furthermore, the news mentioned that some of our food may also have been contaminated. China is a strange country. Remember people there were killing their own kids if it was not the sex that they preferred since they are limited on the number of children that they can have.

It is normal to kill alive animals (Most of them are poultry and fishes). When I was young, that was 70s and 80s in China. In the market, there were only alive poultry and fishes to sell. There was packaged poultry to sell since China has open policy and get more and more developed. Also in Chinese food culture, we believe fresh meat is more delicious and nutritional. When you ever lived in that poor and short of food situation, you are gonna to understand why people can kill animal alive. In my memory, on the time when we can eat fresh chicken and fish, that was only in Chinese new year.Of course now we can eat them every day coz China is more developed.

Turtle is a prolong life thing in Chinese culture. We believe it even can save dying people's life if we kill it alive and cook it. I remember my mom ever bought one and cooked it into soup to try to save my grandmom's life. Of course, my mom let the salesman killed the turtle. She is too scared to kill any alive creatures.

So if you are against that company export alive turtle to China, do you support them to kill them in UK in humane way and export them to China?

Tesco broken pc keyboard - they're full of crap!

I bought a new computer from Tesco on September 26th, 2006 and set it up, only to find the keyboard was broken. I had to use my old keyboard to set the computer up as I needed it for business, and took the keyboard back to the shop today for a replacement. The woman at Customer Services told me I needed to dismantle the WHOLE computer and take it back to the store. When I explained that there was a lot of personal info on there, including things I paid to download off the internet that I couldn't afford to lose, she told me to come back after the managers meeting in 2hrs to speak to the manager, who could authorise a replacement.

I drove back 2 hrs later, only to be told again that I needed to delete everything on the computer, dismantle it and return it, just for the sake of a keyboard. If I didn't want to do this, then I would have to phone the computer's manufacturer (Philips) and get a keyboard from them. I was given a leaflet with the number on it. It was the WRONG number! I rang it several times, only to find the number was no good [protected]). For help and advice, I decided to phone Tesco's helpline [protected]) to ask what to do...only to be put on hold. After 75 MINUTES on hold, I hung up frustrated. Every couple of minutes the automated machine would say "Your call is important to us. It will be answered shortly". It just goes to show they're full of crap! I've now got a keyboard which doesn't work and am currently using my old one which doesn't match the new computer. On top of that, I had to take 2 trips to the St.Mellons store, costing me petrol and spent 75 minutes being charged local rate for a call which never even got answered. My anger still hasn't eased, I'm fuming.

I bought petrol ( pay at pump) at the Tesco Esso franchise on the Ist August in Henleaze Bristol. I have a receipt for £30.01 and yet, when I checked my statement this morning, I see that I have been charged £30.27. Is there any reason for this discrepancy? I shouldn't like to think that I can't trust pay at pump in future.

Please take action to you staff or manager for making money in the hotwheels produce . every time promotion always display fantasy car .another car staff or manager buy it them self. Why Tesco promotion customers can't get the real car. Like Datsun mini Mitsubishi Honda skyline.
