Worthless owner
My boyfriend was traveling down to Tallahassee from New York and asked me to look for a hotel that allows pets. This selection is very meager in town and didn't provide very many reputable hotels or motels
. We settled on Super 8 because I had stayed at that particular place before when it was under ownership of La Quinta and was actually great.
The HORRIBLE experience began when my boyfriend's flight got delayed a whole day so when I arrived at Super 8 I was denied access to a "suite" that had been paid for because I wasn't my boyfriend. I asked the desk clerk (who hardly spoke English) if he could call James and get permission to let me in. He said no. He then told me I was attempting to commit fraud. He finally regressed when I asked him to switch it to my credit card. Smuggly, he charged me for the room at the originally quoted price of $275 for 4 days plus the $25 pet fee for a kitten.
From here I will list the worthlessness of the property and management as it is EXTENSIVE.
-Microwave FILTHY and didn't even turn on, roach dead next to it
-Downstairs lights one of 5 worked.
-Downstairs toilet didn't completely flush
-NASTY condition, dingy carpet, dank moldy smell, crappy AC
-Food stuck on the comforter of downstairs bed
-White stains on chairs
-Black stains on sofa
-Nasty balcony, had never been swept, covered in mildew with dirty, broken furnature
-out of 8 pillows in the room two WEREN'T covered in dark brown stains
-got locked out 5 times, once 3 times in one night because card slot didnt work
HOUSEKEEPING:
-didn't speak English and were VERY rude
-didn't clean ANYTHING
-stripped the sheets and threw them over the railing into an outside huge, stagnant puddle
-threw said sheets into the bin of fresh sheets and threw the filthy vacuum on top of it.
MANAGEMENT:
-manager avoided us every single time we visited or contacted the front desk
-was very elusive and instructed his employees to not reveal the times he would be in
-told me he thought I was trying to get a hotel for free because of the complaints
-offered me a free night some other time.
-denied every problem I had with the room and denied housekeeping was bad because it was his family.
I refused another night there. It was a nightmare. I was in tears the whole entire time and the staff was so remorseless.
Called customer service on them and the first two people were so nice and SO understanding and told me to call back the day after the case closed if he hadn't offered to make it right. Called them back and the last man that helped me didn't care at all and refunded us $48 for the $400 we paid.
It was also graduation weekend so we had no other place to go because by the time we stayed one night everything in town was booked or WAY too expensive. We left two days early because it was so bad.
So sad. NEVER give these people business.

dirty rooms/rude clerk
The first room had a bug in the bed when we checked the linen. We were moved. The second room we dropped our bags and left for food after our 14 hour drive. We then came back and after my wife showered found someone Else's hair on the sink. After noticing the hair we notified the clerk and her response was that "we should have went to another hotel". The only problem with that was we just drove 14 hours from Iowa with our two children that we didn't want to take back out because the area was unfamiliar and looked unsafe. We asked for the manager that morning and received no cooperation. We asked for the corporate number and when I calle dto make a complaint I was disconnected.

The house keepers are very rude. Had to beg to use their vacuum and then if I asked them to clean my room they never would. Front desk help on nights and weekends are good. During they day...front desk is so rude. Tried to move to handicap room bc my elderly mother is handicap. On oxygen..the lady told me she is saving that room for handicap. Told her my mom is handicap and she proceeded to say she can walk cant she.. my mother is 66yrs old..overweight diabetic on oxygen due to pulmanery hypertension and the woman asked why my mother needs handicap room. I imagine if my mother falls in the bathroom bc od denial of handicap room and she sues..I imagine it would matter then. I have never been treated so bad at a business like this.
"Jane you ignorant slut' (Thank you SNL) it's a Super 8 motel. What did you expect?
nasty
My wife and I stopped to stay at the super 8 motel in elk city, ok. We asked for a non-smoking room because I am a lung cancer survivor. We get into the room and the room smelled of smoke. The bathroom toilet handle was broke. The towel rod was broke off the wall. There was no ice bucket in the room. We went to pull the blankets back and they were nasty! We had only been in the room 10 minutes to discover all of this. We decided we were not staying. We went to the front desk and explained the problems. They said if we got all of our stuff out we would refund our money. So we got all of our stuff out and went back to the front desk for our refund. Then she said no, you are not getting a refund. She blamed us for the mess. We were only there 10 minutes and we were ready to go to bed after a long day of driving! After she repeated no refund I told her she hadn't heard the last of it and left. So now I am looking to complain with the super 8 customer service line and they put me on hold for over 30 minutes. I don't know what else to do. Help!

Welllllll, what caused them to say ok we will refund and then change their mind? Something made them change their mind.
cleanliness
Don't think the bathroom had been cleaned after the previous guest. 1 towel, none of the little bottles of stuff except for 1 (that tells me no one replaced anything) the toilet was filthy and had dried crap on the lid. The door dead bolt didn't even fit the striker, so you know this was not a new problem. Someone down the hall was trying to make their dead...

I stayed at the motel at the 5-6 of September 2008, but they only charged my credit card at January 2009. The order was made at their website, and when I arrived they signed me on a registration form stating that the room rates are 59$ + taxes for the 5th of september, and 89$ + taxes for the 6th, with a total estimated amount of 170.24$.
When they finally charged my credit card (as stated above) the amount was 215.44$, and when I asked for clarifications they sent me the form I signed and a detailed "folio" where the room rate for the 6th of september was 129$ instead of 89$.
I should mention that when I left the motel and asked if I need to sign anything, they told me that every thing is according to what we agreed, and never mentioned that they decided to overcharge me for the second night.
Because of the fact that at the registration form the word "estimated" was mentioned, my credit card company doesn't agree to give me back the difference between the stated room rate and the final one.

reservation
I am now boycotting Super 8 and all of Wyndham hotels.
As I was creating a reservation I selected the government rate. I chose the only nonsmoking room on the list. This room was actually a prepaid nonrefundable room. What I don't understand is why this room was even on the list for selection. I didn't even realize my mistake until I went to change the credit card and add an additional night about 5 minutes later. I called the "customer care" line and was told they could not help me or change the reservation. I would think that today in these difficult economic times that someone in customer service would understand the ramifications of poor customer service. It was not as if I was completely canceling the reservation I only wanted to add another night. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that one would call me within 36 hours. That was a week ago.
I called again today to find out any more information, but was given the same line. I chose the room and it is nonrefundable. A manager is suppose to call me today. I will not hold my breath.
Has anyone ever heard of a hotel that will not allow you to change a reservation more than a month away?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
That is why online buying is the responsibility of the customer. You can not blame anyone but yourself. You probably got a good discount for booking non refundable. Then you play the dumb game oh I did not mean to do that. Smart up read what you are doing. You made the mistake stop blaming someone else.
refused to cancel reservation
I contacted the motel to cancel the reservation on 12/21/2008. They charged my Credit Card in spite of me canceling. I have made several attempts to resolve this situation. All I have got was an indignant attitude.

My husband and I went to the super 8 motel in upland, ca and was greeted by the owner's at the front desk (Assuming husband and wife). They never said hello or welcome. We asked for a room, and was told there were no availability with a terrible tone. I was furious and asked what happen to customer service in america? They spoke in broken english and was truly rude. The male owner said, "if you do not like what we are doing, get out and go somewhere else". I said, why are you so angry. He started yelling, get out. We needed a room for a few hours while we were getting some work done at our home. I am appalled that business owners are not held accountable for decent respect for all human beings. Please tell others to not stay at this hotel ! We cannot afford to allow businesses to profit and neglect giving respect to all.

Forced out
Upon arrival at the hotel, the desk clerk (I apologize but I did not get his name, he was the only one working at 5:45 that evening) asked how I was paying. When I replied "Cash, " he said I would have to hold the room via credit card for the evening and pay cash upon check-out the following morning. I'd never encountered that before, but that was fine with me anyway. He took my information and said (exact words) "I just need to get an imprint of your card." I handed him my debit card, he filled some more papers out, handed me my keys and said "thank you."
To my room I went. Unpacked my bag and prepared to take a shower. Mid-way through my shower I heard someone enter my room. It was the desk clerk! And I was in the shower! He said "excuse me." and I said "excuse me I'm in the shower!" so he said (still in my room), "your credit card was denied." and I said "ok, I'll take care of it when I get out of the shower."
Once out of the shower (and after attaching the safety lock on my door to prevent future invasion), I contacted my boyfriend, who was on his way to the hotel, and asked him to give the clerk his credit info when he got to the hotel. Before I could even finish dressing, another knock - and another intrusion - by this large man the desk clerk. He couldn't get through since I'd put the security lock up. But he was Yelling this time. "YOU NEED TO COME TAKE CARE OF THIS." I said, "sir my boyfriend is on his way, he'll be here in minutes." NO YOU NEED TO COME NOW. "Five minutes sir."
He left. I called my boyfriend who promised me he was on his way. I finished dressing, picked up my phone and room key and went downstairs (leaving my purse/wallet/money/car keys/etc. In the room). I waited for my boyfriend for a few moments by the back door. I then heard a lot of voices coming from the lobby, so I thought it safe to go that direction (the desk clerk was honestly scaring me at this point). He was behind the desk when I got there, and I told him my boyfriend was on his way and I was waiting for him there rather than in the room.
"You're too late" was his response. He requested that I leave the hotel. "whatever, I'll go get my things and leave the room, " I said. When I got to my room, there were POLICEMEN in there. Five of them. Going through my things. Dumping my purse and all my belongings onto the bed.
Seriously? I weigh one hundred pounds. Was this large 300 pound plus man afraid of me? So I told the police officers what had happened and they chuckled. Laughed out loud actually. They said "I'm sorry but he is asking you to leave."
"Gladly" was my response.
I made a complaint to the national number of a minor issue. My room had been changed without calling me. The owner called me. Yelled at me then cancelled my reservation saying I cost him $68 and he did it because I called the national line. He then reported that I cussed him and yelled at him. That was not the case. I called and got the same answer over and over from corporate. I got all the way to the president’s office. They told me it was a privately owned franchise and they valued my opinion, which is a joke. They also told me he had a right to pick who he would allow to stay there. I will never stay at wyndham again. Their customer service is horrible and they blamed me instead of listening.
On September 9th, I booked a three night stay through www.super8.com for my husband and our daughter. The total amount was for around $165. When we arrived that night, and went to check in, the girl kept trying to charge us almost $200. I asked her why the price was different, and she said she didn't know. I called the reservation hotline and the first three people I spoke with were rude and not helpful at all. The fourth person I spoke with, called the girl at the hotel and the girl told her, "It'll work itself out when they check out on Friday morning". I did not trust this at all. I felt like I was being scammed. I demanded our reservations to be cancelled without charging us a penny and we went next door to the Baymont Inn. We spent about $50 more, but it was well worth it.
A friend was getting married in New Orleans on Halloween weekend, and we were driving in from out of state. I made a reservation at the Motel 8 in Metarie, for that Friday almost a month prior to our trip. Upon arriving at the hotel, much to the surprise and dismay of me and my and others that were with me, they could not find our reservation. I even verified the reservation a few days prior. No rooms rooms were available either when we got there either, which was no surprise there due to it being Halloween weekend.
I had the front desk clerk call other local hotels to see what other accommodations they could find for us, as we needed the room for more than the one night they were offering. Because of it being late in the evening, I knew that there no time to waste in finding another place to stay. After several failed attempts, we found one.
Fortunately, it was not too far, but the cost of the hotel was double than what we had budgeted for, after all, the price and reservation was set well in advance. The only place around that had room was a 4 star hotel, which cost 2x than what we had originally allotted in our budget.
The next morning, I called the manager at Super 8, he told me that he was still unable to find the reservation and could offer no explanation. Figuring that the emergency was averted I gave it little thought, and was not going to let it ruin the weekend.
Before leaving the room, I checked my credit card balance, and much to my surprise and dismay, my credit card was hit from Super 8 in the amount of 1 night stay.
I called the manager back immediately and confronted him with the dilemma. The reservation was lost, yet my card was hit. How could this be? Basically i was charged for a hotel reservation that was supposedly lost. I was told that he would look into it and call me back, which he never did. I called a few times while in town, and again when we got home. However, now he mysteriously would not be in or available to take calls.
I am now trying to resolve the situation with my bank, however, the trip was much more costly than anticipated.
My hypothesis is that, they (who ever was at the desk at the time) sold the room that I had reserved for a higher price, and did this without so much as a confirmation call or other courtesy, and if so, was completely unprofessional. Its scary to think of the situation if we weren't able to cover the added expense. At the very least reimburse me for the 1 night that is fraudulent, if not for the additional cost of staying at a 4 star hotel.
My Husband and I walked into the Super 8 motel in Boone IA
We had a super rough day and were ready to get a room so we could get some sleep. We walked into the front office and up to the desk and I stated we would like two nights please Also we have our Service Dogs with us. Only to be told, " No You not get room". My Husband and I are disabled and we weren't dressed to the nines, he treated us as if we were homeless. He totally discriminated against us for no apparent reason. My recent rib fracture plus the reason i am on disability is because I am a Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Patient and deal with alot of nerve pain and any stressful situations causes my nerves to cause stroke like symptoms and because we had already had a stressful day we just wanted a 2 day break from the world so that my husband and I could deal with what was fixing to happen. Well we left and I had not only a stroke but i had 3 seizures back to back in our vehical which landed me in the hospital with even more injuries. If he had just given us a room I could have been on the bed where i would not have harmed myself. Because of his discrimination of us, i not only have a the recent rib fracture but now i have 7 more broken bones spread down my left leg and ankle and 2 bones in my foot plus countless hairline fractures. But to make things even worse... I am not like most people that break a bone... they usually get a cast and that's that. Because of my R.S.D. I can Not be immobilized because my body swells two to three times larger then normal at any given time and if they were to cast any part of my body.. it would Cut off circulation in that body part and be detrimental to my existance. So because I can't be casted i have to deal with excruciating pain and can't do much of anything, I also am allergic to pratically all medications and especially pain meds. If I don't get any satisfaction i will be forced to contact the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title 3 of 1993 as amended in 1999. I may even do a civil suit in court for damages and pain and suffering plus discrimination. If anyone as any ideas or know of anyone that might help please email me: susanmangum@yahoo.com
stolen property
I was with a friend of mine staying in room 317 on Friday night. When I left, I accidentally left my bad in the room. It wasn't a few hours after check out (Saturday afternoon) that I called the hotel. I know for a fact that the bad was left in the room but the Motel people would not help me. They kept throwing excuses at me saying that certain people aren't in the office and I was asked if they could call me back the next day when the right people were in. They took my name and number. The next day I called them back and was given the same run-around. Wrong people are in the office and asked if they could call me back. This went on for several day. On Monday I called the 3rd time and asked to speak to a manager. I was told once again that the wrong person wasn't in the office and I was asked if they could call me back tomorrow. I now know for a fact that the cleaning people cleaned the room and stole the bag without reporting it and the management/staff is covering up for it. I called a lawyer and am taking them to small claims court. DON'T EVER STAY AT ANY SUPER 8 MOTELS. STAY AWAY FROM SUPER 8 UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR STUFF STOLEN.

My husband, my children and I stayed at the super 8 in mahwah, nj on 8/3/2007.
I forgot my digital camera in our room when I checked out. It was not an expensive camera, a kodiak easy share 270. I contacted the hotel not even 2 hours down the road. They said housekeeping had not turned anything in. I do not think I left me camera, I am positive I forgot it on the table. I left messages for the managers, and head of housekeeping, and no one ever called me back. Susan mann was the woman who cleaned my room that day, and I know she stole my camera. I would not say a thing about this if I thought for one moment I might be mistaken. I know I left it there. Getting no satisfaction from management!

I asked the rates and the lady said where are you from. I said i'm from wheaton missouri [which is a 20 minute drive away and is long distance] she said i'm sorry our policy won't let us rent to a local. [now i have had a hard day and i am tired] i said wheaton is not local besides i live in hartford iowa. She repeated her earlier statement. I said look here is my drivers license it is from iowa. I am down here working on some property that was damaged by water. Again she repeated her statement. I again said look i am not a local [she cut me off and said she didn't want a confrontation with me] i just shook my head and left.
I would like this person reprimanded and i would like some compensation for the embarrassment i received and for having to look for another place to rest. This happened 06/02/07
Please email me your reply.

On June 8, 2008 we stayed in a Super 8 Motel. We checked in around 16:00 and was asigned room 115. The temp was in the 90's so we turned the A/C on to find out that it didn't work. We let it run for 4 hours then called the desk only for them to tell us that this is all the better they work. With my many medical problems I had to put ice in a wash cloth to try to keep cool. After another hour we were moved to another room which was a smoking room, (both of us do not smoke). We got a room which was reserved for smokers. Upon our move there were no towels or wash cloths in this room. We feel we were down graded in our reservations to this room which made our stay in the Super 8 Motel a very unpleasent stay. It seems as if the rooms at this motel should have been closed down to save Super 8 Motels losses. So now we await whatever your decision might be in our losses for staying in the Super 8 Motel in Beechwood, Ohio.
" asked the rates and the lady said where are you from. I said i'm from wheaton missouri" first of all you say you're from wheaton, then you're from Iowa? I wouldn't rent you a room either, you lied about where you were from.
Most hotels that have the "no local" policy is because they have problems with locals. 20 mins away is considered local. Locals will come to those ghetto places and deal drugs, [censored] around, and tear up the rooms. I worked at a Super 8 and 99% of all the locals had issues.
The hotel I work at now does not accept cash at check in, which is really nice because the riff-raff does not come in.
The man scares me!
I had made reservations online for June 28th, 2006.This was the first day of our vacation-we were on our way to a family reunion that had been 2 years in the making. We checked in and went to our room.It was approx. 8:30. We were not impressed with the room but the rate was good. They had a worn recliner in there that was a bit wobbly so I sat in very carefully to make sure it worked. It seemed to be o.k. I then got up for some reason and when I went back to sit on it ,it totally open up on me and we went backwards. I hit quite hard jarring my neck and back. I have a metal plate in my neck from a herniated disc so I am always very careful.I was sore when I got up but I was more angry. To put a broken recliner in a room where some one could get seriously hurt is just asking for a lawsuit to happen! I went down to complain. I'm sorry to say I took it out at first on the employee but later apoligised. He dialed the owner and put me on the phone.I told him what had happened in his "### ###" recliner and said if I end up with neck or back problems I would sue.The owner was very nice,he was sorry and that the chair had been broken by previous renters.I said that he should have removed it before someone else rented the room.He agreed and said he would move us to another room and upon my asking, refunded the cost for the night.I then handed the phone to the employee and told him to keep record of what happened this evening incase the soreness I was feeling ended up to be more.
When I returned to the room I told my husband what we had discussed and he told me I should have gotten something in writing since they could get rid of the chair and get convenient amnesia.I did not want to go back down there so I told him to go.When he walked to the desk the employee was again talking to the owner and he said "that lady's husband wants to talk to you".My husband got on the phone and -nicely- asked if we could get something in writing. The owner went beserk! Something was said about us coming to his f---ing town and to his f---ing motel.to get the f--- out of his hotel and last but not least he was on his way there and him and my husband were going to "dance".My husband threw the phone to the employee and said he was calling the police.
Which my husband did when he returned to the room. And because this was all over my falling, the fire dept. came along with an ambulance and then an officer.I was so embarrassed that they all had to come when I was just sore from the fall.I had to explain everything to each person that came and that I really did not see that I needed their help at this moment.I was hoping that it would be gone by morning plus we were on our way to a family reunion.I also had a pet along. The owner came into the room while I was explaining and after a while identified himself.I asked why he thought it was necessary to "dance" with my husband and he of course denied everything. He said my husband was the one using foul language. My husband never even had a chance to say anything to the man and the only foul language was used by me in my discription of his recliner. My husband and the owner stepped in the hallway with the officer and the man just kept on lying about the whole incident. So finally since nothing was getting resolved we packed our bags and left.
Now, one would think that it would end there but it doesn't.The owner followed us from the hotel and when we stopped at another motel he sat there in his car watching us.We decided not to stay there and left but making sure we got behind him.We followed him a bit til he turned off on some road and then went in the opposite direction. We finally found a room about 10 pm.I could hardly sleep because I thought the owner would find us and only God knows what!
I was very happy to be on our way the next day and out of that town.
I have called in to Super 8 and complained. They said they would contact me with in 7 days.It is now July 18th and I have not heard from them.I also emailed the owner and ceo of the company that owns Super 8 and have not heard back. But it was through thier investor email since it's impossible to reach him directly. But it went through Cendant Co. and his attn.
I have had an X-ray and right now I believe just inflamation is the problem.I feel that the owner of the Super 8 should pay for any medical expense's that should incur.BUT...The man scares me! We are only about 2.5 hours away and he has all our information.I would prefer not dealing with him but go through Super 8 headquarters.I really need help with this situation but not sure where to go with it.?
Had 2 pay for towels missing in Room. 113.. .We did not take towels,,,They kept my deposit of 35.00 for missing towels,,you might say they stole my deposit,,Check out date was May 25 2024,,they informed me that there will be no refund,,,
