Publix Super Markets bad treatment from manager

I shopped at this Publix and my bill came to $126.10. I was busy entering my credit card information when an employee started assisting the cashier. I had already put much of the groceries in bags. I left the store and when I got to my car I noticed the 4 Roll package of Kleenex Viva Paper Towels was missing. I backtracked to the store with my cart. I told the cashier and the employee that helped told me she put them on the bottom rack of the shopping cart. I explained that they were not in my car and I looked all over the entire path I had taken. She got the manager.

I waited for the manager, Kelly Ortman who went back into the office and came back to tell me I left with the paper towels. I explained that they were missing and that the assistant stuck them on the bottom rack where heavy items like bottled water or Pet Food goes. A light, slippery 4 pack of paper towels may have fallen off, I didn't hear anything and I had already covered the path I had taken to my car. At this point she basically told me that I left the store with the item and there is nothing she can do about it, she was not pleasant about this.

I offered to show them my car to prove that I was no some thief trying to get another 6 dollar package of paper towels. I don't think I've ever made a complaint before but it was the principle and the amount of time I spent going back and forth looking for it. I went back to my car one more time and then back into the store and bought another package, waited in line and went one more time to the service desk to ask if anyone turned them in. At this point they were ignoring me so I asked for the store number: 0756 and the name of the manager. They told me "Kelly" and when I asked for a last name they rolled their eyes and told me,

To add insult to injury, when I arrived home and started carrying the bags, 2 of them broke open because the assistant had stuck 2 gallon water bottles in one flimsy bag. Very bad service and nasty attitude from the manager. I guess the "Customer is always wrong" at Publix in Jupiter.

If you want us to believe a story, you can't start off with a statement that is obviously untrue. "I was busy entering my credit card information ". You don't enter any info. You slide the card and press credit. How long can that possibly take? 5 seconds? Nice try.

@StillAnonymous

Uhhhhhh...this new "Flexible Rewards System" will be inacted when? Cause from what I see you said that about six months ago. I still have seen a single reward system of any kind (Unless general [censored]baggery from managers is a reward). Just saying dude. How about you double check your info before posting it, m'kay?

Publix Super Markets no pleasure to work for

Back in the day I worked for Publix as a cashier and quickly worked my way up to the front office. Back then treating all employees with respect and fairness was high on Mr. Jenkins list.

Recently Publix went to a Pay for Performance policy as a way to save money and ***-out poor performers. Now senior citizens who work for Publix are expected to keep up with teenagers. The result is a cut in their paychecks. Have you ever noticed how many older employees there are at your Publix? Surprised that this has not been challenged in a courtroom as a Class Action Discrimination Suit. Long term older employees can't be expected to work at the same pace as younger employees.

No Publix employee is really safe. What's to say if you rub any manager the wrong way, that you will not receive a low evaluation even if you are a top performer? What if managers are able to increase their bonuses by keeping employee wages down due to this pay system? This could be wide open for abuse.

The Distribution Warehouses have also been hit with this greedy, I mean cost-saving idea. Workers are expected to work at super-human levels in order to keep within VERY strict time limits. Fall below your time quota and you are given a choice to resign or be fired.

But wait, there's more, if too many employees are able to make their quota the time limit is shortened so that those employees are paid less for their higher performance. I know this for a fact since it happened to a family member. Not only is this practice unfair it also puts their employees in danger. Having workers race around a warehouse full of racks, product, carts, pallets, pallet jacks and forklifts etc... is an accident waiting to happen and perhaps a lawsuit, too.

Talk about poor employee relations! Looks to me like the spirit and values of George Jenkins are no longer with Publix. I have decided to take my business elsewhere and so have many of my friends and relatives.

Publix Super Markets bad customer service

I have never had a problem at a publix that the manager couldn't take care of. all you aholes out there - get a life! - stop blaming everyone else for your own crappy behaviors. I don't how many times (but it is/was many) that I have to hear one of you complain about nothing, and argue to the manager as if it is the manager's fault. go and yell at what really made you mad - not the store employees. don't park your car in the the no parking zone, don't woory about the rain - you won't melt, better yet stey in your car and wait for it stop or use an umbrella! stop arguing about a prodcut that didn't sell, and you were the only one buying it, complained about the price, and wonder why the store doesn't carry it anymore! move on!

When we walk into a Publix, we are under the delusion that we are the customer. We are not. The Publix customers are the vendors who fill the shelves and pay Publix a rental charge. Want cheese? Cheese can be found throughout the store, from one end to the other(7 different locations in most stores). If WE were the customer, the cheeses would all be together so we could easily find what we want, but since the vendors are the real customers, each vendor has all products in a section they rent out, regardless of what the people witht he money have to do to find the various products. Since you are not the customer, it is unreasonable to expect Publix to care, and they don't.

Have shopped Publix for many years in FL & GA. Not sure what their customer service issues are but after 25 years I won't be shopping there again. Just a recent list of issues:
Briarcliff Village Cashier, the only one open steps away to make coffee, when I asked the assistant manager, Dagmar, where the cashier went she stupidly says..."to make coffee, she'll be back in a few minutes." I left a full cart of groceries on the conveyor belt.
Briarcliff Village Deli: waited 10 minutes for service and no one was there. Ended up getting store manager to wait on me.
Hugh Howell Express lane 10 ITEMS OR LESS: Today went to grab a few items, the person ahead of me had 40 items in her cart and the cashier did not say a word. Spoke to store manager Irene and her response was "we don't make a customer go to another line" The other 8 people behind me were also upset.
Why have an express lane if you don't intend to enforce the rules?

Called consumer relations in Lakeland FL. Pam, could not have been less interested.

Publix is now off my list of stores my family and I will frequent. Theres Kroger, Ingles, Whole Foods and others thank goodness as customer service at Publix is a thing of the past.

I agree, most Publix are. When I lived in Dania the employees were on a first name basis with the regular customers. They even scanned their own coupons if they saw I had items that were on sale. I was talking about a specific Publix in my complaint.

I was responding to "Bad Customer Service" by Michelle who obviously works for Publix. Hers is a nonsensical, misanthropic tirade against the consumers that keep her company in business. Seems like she could release that pent up aggression much better if she applied to TSA. They have very low intelligence requirements and perpetual anger is an asset to them.

There is a well known adage that successful retail businesses operate by, "The customer is always right". It is not always true, but Publix needs customers more than unskilled idiots that don't even deserve minimum wage. The manager's job is to deal with customers as well as the mentally challenged cashiers and employees.

I have the choice of just taking my business elsewhere and blogging about how incompetent and rude some Publix employees are. The store manager does not have the choice of where he/she works after he/she is terminated because of so many complaints. I posted this to a blog and at least 100 people have called the Customer Relations # [protected].

That's how business works. It's called the Free Market. Provide bad service and the customers go elsewhere. Don't ever underestimate the power of boycotting a brand or store especially when nasty, racist employees are the cause. ACLU and Anti Defamation League will do the work of a thousand lawyers when you act in a racist or anti semitic manner.
You disgruntled employees should not take your misery out on paying customers.

I understand that you are angry that people demand good service. Be of good cheer. Hyper inflation is coming in 2011 and your measly paycheck won't even buy enough food for one day. This board is here for customers to complain because the over-payed disgruntled managers ego's far outweigh their skill. This is why all the good jobs have been outsourced. American's went from a society of producers and savers to borrowers and spenders. Unskilled labor used to mean hard work. Now it means getting payed too much for doing nothing.

These people have found out that if they stick with the bad attitude, then they will get whatever they want.

My personal tack is - I'm an @$$. I will offer to teach them how to count and ask them if they can read. I will humiliate these people in any way I kin find. I will loudly count the groceries. Be bold. Be a bad***. If not, then don't whine.

These days - toss away the manners. Yeah. I said it. Get your monster suit on and dish it out. 'Cuz these are the same people who will hit you, run, and if caught claim that it's all on you 'cuz you were there "in the way." I know 'cuz I been there.

Publix Super Markets meat department

I went to Publix yesterday and was purchasing some meat. First I noticed that the butcher was not wearing gloves to package the meat. I got his attention and on his way over to me he pushed a cart out of the way, closed a box and turn the pages of the pricing book and return to packaging his meat. I found this to be disturbing because after he was finished with all of that he returned to handling the meat without washing his hands. Now I love Publix and was very disappointed with the practice of not washing your hands or wearing gloves when handling meat. After letting the store manager know what I just witnessed and letting him know how grossed out I was, he told me that "in the butcher's defense, the FDA approves not using gloves when handling meat! And if the meat is cooked at the right temperature, everything should be fine." I don't think the FDA approves the practices between packaging meat and returning to it without washing your hands. I will not be purchasing meats packaged by Publix anymore...

The meat department in the Naples Publix at 41 and 951 has terrible meat.
Every week something tastes really bad.
I have worked in meat markets, their using old boned meats that have been around for way too many days.
Their ALSO aging their meat way too long to the point it's almost gone bad.
No one is over seeing the butchers, and that's where the problem lies.
The managers at this store are not doing their jobs.
We always used gloves in my brother in laws meat market in Sarasota.
Not only that, they raise their prices during the season.
VERY POOR MANAGEMENT and the FDA should be called in which I will be doing tomorrow after talking to the manager.

In fact, in using the saw: it is a safety requirement that he NOT wear gloves as they can get caught in the blade and suck his hand in and cause him serious injury or death. Watching someone's hand be cut off over my steak... that would ruin MY appetite.

Actually, the FDA DOES approve that. The requirement of gloves is specified only for 'ready to eat' and 'cooked' product. The 'not washing his hands' is another thing entirely though. eww.

Publix Super Markets everyone is not treated equal

Iv'e been working for publix for several years one of the best places i've ever worked. Unfortunatly some things are very unfair. If I was black it would be great but i'm white. White people have to go by publix rules while all blacks do not. I don't understand I thought all people were created egual but it seems its not. I see black women with finger nails 1 to 2 inches long. Let a white lady try this they would be suspended. Black men have long braids and dont't shave if I tried this I wouldn't have a job or be suspended. So even though I can"t say much because I really need my job. Why can't we be all be treated egualrules are rules' treat us all the same'

Now it's race? When I worked there for over 7 years ago in the 1990's, it was women.

We were actually told by one manager that there was a hiring/promotion freeze for ALL men. Period. Not official, of course, but for about the next year, no guy should expect to be promoted into management. That's what happened.
Women with less experience, poorer records, etc... were promoted into management. They skipped over many guys that were waiting in line.

Publix will not get sued for skipping over a white dude. But will get sued over and over if someone thinks they (female, minority, etc...) might have been passed over.

Sad. I liked working for Publix. The pay was low (of course... grocery store...) but goof benefits, and lots of nice people there.

Publix is scared of blacks. Most big company's are. Its a numbers game. I have been told I have to hire a certain color(it has went both ways). If you were in a mostly black store you have gotten promoted. I know still not fair but that's how it work. A white promotion out of a black store.

Certegy will not allow you to pay with checks anymore. They keep a record of all the people who have paid with bad checks and then do not let them pay with checks again. Ever. Even if you have made good on the check, they look at it like you are a 'risk' because you let a check bounce in the first place. More and more places look at it like this- you bounced one check, you may bounce another one. So they refuse to take any more from you period.

That axxhole NerdlingerSS has to be one of those district managers (Jim Yeatman? maybe) protecting his fellows sex offenders Junior Cummins and Jeff Lawyer. Don’t get surprised if you hear in the news something like: “adulterous Publix manager found hanged inside the supermarket freezer using his own tie. Police is investigating a possible homicide since they found in his rectum a note saying: “Publix, where cheating is a pleasure” in addition to 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters stocked in his mouth. Some witnesses said the tie was a gift from one of his multiple affair partners”

Publix Super Markets rude manager

My daughter and I went to the Publix in LaGrange, GA to purchase some cherries that were on sale. We went to the produce dept, we found some but were unsure if they were the ones on sale so we asked the employee there, she said that they were the correct ones. Upon check out the items rang up different, the cashier called the manager, Richard Harper. The cashier told him that we said these should be on sale, the manager said no they aren't. I was trying to tell him that the lady said they were but before I could finish my sentence he interupted me and said what lady. It was the tone of his voice that was very unprofessional. I began to tell him again that she was working back at the produce dept. He kept on that these were not the right ones. I told him that there is also a sign at the cherries that reflects the sale price. He continued to talk rather loud and rude to me and my daughter in front of several customers. He wanted me to show him the employee so we went back there but she had left. He then said that we could have the cherries which was not what we wanted him to do we wanted the correct price. The thing that made me upset was his behavior, very unprofessional. As for me, I will never go in that store again. He could have handled this alot different, I know because I deal with the publix every day. Thanks for listening. Have a great day.

Publix Super Markets the customers

I'll stop in Publix every so often when I'm on the road in Florida (there's one on every street corner just about). As a grocery store in itself, Publix is OK. I don't see anything real special about it. Sure, they dress up everything to look real nice, but I am smart enough to see right through that. Also, I guess if the smell of stale bread gives you an orgasm, Publix is the store for you.

What makes shopping at Publix NOT a pleasure? The customers. They're rude, they're obnoxious, they're pompous-assed and brown-nosed, and they grace the store thinking to themselves "yes, I'm better than everyone on this god-forsaken planet because I'm willing to spend three times as much for groceries as I would have if I shopped at Wal-Mart." Good luck trying to get something from the deli. It's always overcrowded with losers who don't know how to cook and treat the people working behind the counter like their mothers (on a side note, Publix fried chicken is terrible).

Worst yet is that unlike any grocery store, or any store that just happens to sell groceries, Publix is the only one in existence that has fanboys. Just take a look at some of the comments people have posted on this site alone. If you DARE say anything even remotely negative about Publix, the fanboys viciously attack you. You thought Twilight fanatics were bad? Get a load of these fanatics!

I think the only other store I know of that has such inane people for customers is Target.

Publix Super Markets just not the same service anymore

Lately I've been noticing that the service at Publix just isn't what it used to be. I've always held Publix Supermarkets in high regard because of their cleanliness and attentive service at the checkout but I've noticed that alot of the adult employees have been replaced by young teenagers who are always preoccupied talking about the latest party or rap song with the bagger who is also a teenager.

Most of the time they don't even acknowledge the customer unless it's to tell them their total and then you're lucky to get a thank you. I don't know, maybe it's me, but I feel that Publix has definately changed and not for the better.

I know the Publix that I am familiar with has some great cashiers. Friendly and always say thank you.

Even the baggers offer carry out service. It has quite a bit to do with the managers. The store I am familiar with has ome great managers there.

Well it's like this...it's cheaper to hire the youngin's because they don't work full time so you don't have to pay them benefits and they will accept minimum wage. But in defense of the youngin's, a good deal I have run into have been courteous employee's.

Publix Super Markets not pet friendly

This store will not allow signs about a lost pet to post on their doors.
I shop there every single week
How Do I suppose to let people know?
And if you put them outside around them they also take them down.
Not everybody has a computer or knows How to use it...

Publix Super Markets waste of time

I frequently shop at Publix because it is close to my home but I will NEVER, EVER wait in their deli line again. Last week, for the fifth or six time, I waited over 25 minutes for someone to take my order. Often times, they are cooking chicken and won't even turn around to acknowlege that someone is waiting. There can be 1 person or 50 people waiting and the people behind the counter move at the same slow pace. I have walked out of line so many times I can't count.I have spoken with others in my neighborhood who have had the EXACT same experience. I will now drive an extra 5 miles to get my cold-cuts or deli sandwiches. Such a waste of time for me and a loss of revenue for them.

Publix deli, s need an improvement...Cleaning is just the begin... face make over big time...meats need to stay cold bottom line, , when you slice cold cut meat you are removing it from a cooler onto a slicer, , temperature drops, you slice that meat, , , temperature drops even more...Then hand package to customer, 30 to 45 minutes later he or she [the customer] leaves the store, they get home... Before you know it that meat was left out for an hour plus... above 41 degrees for sure.. then what happens? people get sick... so all deli, s need a big time make over, ...

While it is true you do have to wait a long time in the Deli you are getting what you pay for.If youre in a hurry go to Burger King.Publix has cut their help because items per labor hour is everything to them. But especially the people in the Deli suffer. There are many cross contamination issues and alot of things that must be done.Sometimes to the detriment of waiting customers. They are under alot of stress to give you wholesome food and not to make you sick.Publix expects alot out of their associates.Try to be patient and understand there is no worse job at Publix than the Deli.Ask anyone in the store if theyd like to work in the Deli.95% of them will say "are you crazy".

You must be an impatient fat person because I am an associate of publix, and unless you have worked for them you need to stop acting like a pampered complaining cry baby. I cook for Publix, and we are so busy, with such a work that your fat ### could not handle. Before you cry about not gettting acknowledged because we are tired of the same fat people coming for chicken, lose weight, and work on your manners, and maybe you will be acknowledged.

Dude seriously...you do realize the disaeses you can get from having them touch your food after touch raw chicken right? Personally I would rather have a person who hasn't been touching that crap take my order. But they can't because Publix spends it money on sending people to classes on how to sell Boars Head meats (Which costs more then regular meats and still tastes the same) instead of hiring more people. Call the manager up and let him know they need more people there.

The reason that the person cooking cannot come out right away is that they are cooking. If they stop to go to the front, then the chicken will run out and it will be 20 minutes at least before the next batch comes up. Also, do you really want someone who was handling raw chicken to run up to the front, maybe wash thier hands and just put on gloves? It takes two minutes at least to properly clean up and wash and sanitize hands and apron before you can take a fresh chicken order.( if the board of health saw that, the person would lose thier job, the deli may be asked to close, and ALL of the cooked food in the case would be thrown away and it would be an hour at least to re-stock it and clean it.) I find it funny that people complain about the cooks who "don't take orders" while covered in raw chicken blood ?

Publix Super Markets unprofessional

So... mostly what they said to me at the interview was, we are awesome. you are nothing. So shut up and don't acting like you are better than us. Yup. That is all about it. I was a french pastry chef at the fine dining restaurant and try to get a job at Publix bakery because of the bad economy.

And I had another interview set up in other location, but I had to cancel the appointment because I got an offer from other company. So I called customer service, ask for hiring manager. Lady who I spoke with said that she is not working that day. So I ask for the interviewer, she said that that person is not there either. I politely ask her if I can leave a message for them, then the customer service lady yelled at me "CAN'T YOU JUST CALL BACK LATER?" I asked her what time should I call back. She said right before the interview appointment. I responded her that I don't think it is right because then the interviewer is going to waste her time for nothing so I would like to let her know as soon as she gets there. Then I ask the customer service lady again what time the interviewer comes to work. Then she goes like "OK! OK! I will let her know!" and wanted to hang up. I told her my name and appointment time. Again, she goes "OK! OK! I got it!" then hung up. No King... what kind of customer service they are having there. So rude. So unprofessional. For get Publix.

Publix Super Markets Bad company

I have worked for Publix for over 6 years now they really suck… They put on a front to the public and they treat their employees unfairly across the board… I took the management test (Got a high pass) along with many great employees in the store the only person out of the group that was recommended was the 20-year-old girl that had worked for Publix for about a year and a half and was usually found by the time clock on the cell phone with one of her boyfriends…
They are never really truly happy with your work or you and I hear this from many people. A lot of gossip and a lot of backstabbing… They should be ashamed as a company and I can honestly say they have the most waste and food thrown away I have ever seen in a grocery store… Shame on you Publix!

"PuBLix iS a gReAt PlAce tO wORk!" Not unless you are 100% company minded and don't mind working 10-12 hr shifts for 9 days straight when a person is only Part time! If you are older and have health issues they really don't care because they need to follow the "business needs"! Publix should be ashamed of themselves for making older employees go outside and get carts! That should be the job for the younger guys! Cashiers shouldn't have to do that at all! I really feel that Publix should have more respect and consideration for their older employees! Publix is NOT a great place to work at all...my only enjoyment is seeing my customers and getting to talk with them.

I have been working for publix for some time know and I have to say that I have never felt so underappreciated and over worked and taken advantage of . All I do is kitchen, . When I started working everyone was so unhappy in the deli, I was warned by the other employees that working in the kitchen was the worst job to have in the deli and they were right. I expressed my interest in getting full time and worked hard at everything I did to setting up and closing kitchen. After working for some time I found out that they were giving the full time position to someone else coming from another publix who had only been with publix a short period of time, when I say short I mean short. I again spoke with my manager and expressed my desire in getting full time and my manager simply said that the position was given to this person. I felt discourage and I realized that all my hard work was for nothing in the end it's not what you know is who you know. I notice in publix that everything is about kissing ### and being in front of your managers face 24 7. Everything is politics and if they like you then they will push for you if not it doesn't matter how hard of a worker you are, what ever happened to being promoted for your hard work, it seems that this is something that we have lost. Working in the publix deli especially kitchen is one of the most exhausting jobs there is that's why everybody avoids the kitchen even the full timers. I tried again and expressed to my manager that I wanted full time, my manager treated me like I was incapable of becoming a full timer but the funny thing is I do the hardest job in the deli. My manager promised to train me in other areas and it never happened. Everyone keeps telling me that I have to train myself which is bull, because anybody that works in the kitchen knows there is no time to teach yourself especially on game days and holidays and weekend which your literally on your feet going back and forth non stop with no help. But the new full timer gets trained in everything, When I leave my work I'm so exhausted that I have no energy to do anything else when I get home. The full timers don't help, all they do is inventories salads and platters which compared to kitchen work it's nothing. who can't do a salad especially when you have a book telling you step by step taking care of customers and pulling out expired item in front of deli and replenishing tea, chit chatting in the hallway or talking in the other departments or lookibg at there phones I never have time for this. keep in mind that they get paid well. When I close kitchen I get no help from the full timer in charge, all they do is tell you what to do and walk away, I have closed kitchen too many times by myself and I can't express how exhausted I am to the point that I go home and start applying for other jobs. I have a college education and I know that I deserve a job that will appreciate my potential, they are taking advantage of me and I feel disrespecred. If I stay I will never get full time, they just want a kitchen person. I'm definitely working in getting a job in what I went to school, God willing that will happen soon. They will schedule 4 or more people in the deli side on weekend and only one person in the kitchen and by the way you have to help in the deli side as well, but when you fall behind no one helps you. Publix is not what it's cracked up to be, they show a complete disregard to their employees in the deli especially in kitchen, there is no consideration as to how exhausted you are and sometimes your scheduled to come in at 6am or 8 am in the morning after closing kitchen by yourself. I get the impression from the managers and some employees that this is all I'm good for, little do they know that I have a college degree and I plan on leaving publix. The managers and full timers can do the kitchen God knows they get paid more than me.

I've worked for Publix for a while now and it's been a fantastic experience. I've read almost every single comment here (and the article itself.) I've noticed that many complaints are written with poor grammar, little to no punctuation, and poor spelling. That already speaks volumes about the individual complaining about being mistreated. Now obviously SOME stores are simply poorly managed. It does not mean the company as a whole is bad. It wouldn't constantly be voted one of the best companies in the United States to work for if it were truly a bad company. But if you're not the brightest individual or simply uneducated (read: high school education), you probably aren't the best at your job. If you're not being promoted, again, probably not good at your job, or your attitude sucks and it's apparent at work. I work my butt off and it shows, even taking on extra positions when they were in need, and they gave me the highest introductory raise when I hit my first six months. I've continued to bust my butt and am now about to become assistant meat manager (started as cashier/bagger) due to hard work, picking up extra shifts, having very open availability and repeatedly letting them know I want to move up. Now there are people that I work with that complain and moan to everyone JUST as these commenters and the original writer are here... They're also not the brightest. And they barely get raises due to those facts. Many are older and feel that their age entitles them to more pay and hours. Sorry, but it doesn't. I'm young and I'm sure some older disgruntled workers think things like that about me, but they have no idea I'm also paying my way through college, all my bills (obviously) and am attending full-time while busting my butt at Publix AND another job. I know less intelligent people never seem to realize that they aren't intelligent, but seriously... It's not them, it's you. But if you feel you're being mistreated, ask for a transfer or quit and find a new job. I mean if you're so deserving of a raise, so intelligent and hard working, you should be able to find a better job, right? Wouldn't that make sense? But working there for years complaining the entire time while feeling mistreated?... That, right there, proves you're not the brightest.

Suck it up, work harder and earn it, or fix the problem. There's always a solution. And if you're truly a decent person and hard worker and not one of these self-entitled people who are lazy while thinking they work hard, you'll earn your worth, whether at Publix or another company. Never settle for less than you're worth. Someone will ALWAYS pay you more - it's up to you to find those jobs, they won't be handed to you.

Working At #0472 is hell. The store mgr. is lazy and racist. he will promote whites faster than any other race inside the store. He promoted a stock clerk that is clearly a functional alcoholic to full time in 6 months. This guy comes to work smelling like alcohol, doesn't follow the rules, but yet he gets promoted. When its time for someone of another race to get promoted the manager says, "I need to see more from you." The only time anyone follows publix policy and procedure is when the DM or someone else is coming to visit. They want you to kill yourself so they can get a bigger bonus at the end of the year. This is a horrible company and all the managers are only looking out for themselves.

I worked for Publix for two years, they recruited me from Kroger, I am a 30 year butcher and manager. The insults started at the interview. And they continued until I had had enough. The managers are taught by the district manager to make employees feel like they aren't worthy to work at Publix. It is alot of psychological warfare. The managers are passive agressive towards employees. You get written up for anything and everything. I found write ups in the managers office one day, where he had write ups for every employee with issues he had made up out of thin air. He had several on me and everyone else, one supposedly happened on a day I was on vacation. So If you like being treated like you are noone, then please work at publix. They could care less about having good employees, and their company suffers from that. You can't just replace people and find the same quality of people you just let go or they quit because they are tired of being treated poorly. I guess they will find out, too bad they are so ignorant and arrogant. Bad combination for a company to be.

Worked in The Meat Department in Florida and In Nashville, and from the INTERVIEW I was insulted and made to feel as if I was not important and that they were all important. Thought it might be just an individual store thing, so I transferred to Tampa, and worked in the meat department for the worst excuse of a human being I have ever known. A few of us found pre-written 'write ups', about 6 per employee in the department, so that if he wanted to get rid of any of us, he could just sign his name and submit it at any time. None of the write up's made any sense either, things none of us ever did. But I guess that is how crooked Publix is. He had to learn that from someone, so I guess it was mr bushee. Another poor excuse of a human being. When someone got promoted to Assist Mgr, bushee sat him down and explained how to keep his employees under his thumb. Passive Agressive techniques only someone like Ted Bundy would be able to comprehend..hey, wasn't he from Florida as well?...mabye he wrote the management manual for publix before 1989?...something to ponder

Publix Super Markets beware and stay away

Publix and Hess Stations were the only places selling half & half without any additives. Publix was more reasonable. I do not buy Publix cream any longer. I buy my cream at WalGreens but it is more expensive. So I have a choice, pay more money or stop buying cream altogether.

Do you intend, any time soon going back to producing your half & half without additives?

I do my best to buy mostly produce and never any packaged or prepared foods with the exception of low sodium products.

Modern technology has prolonged the shelf life of our food and shortened ours.

The money I spend on food is still cheaper than for doctors and drugs.
