LA Fitness / membership services (lack of)

We have been founding members of LA Fitness since they bought out our local fitness club. For the past 4 years our son has been away at College and unable to use his membership. However, expecting he would want to use his membership once college was over, we maintained his membership and made payments for 4 years. This past month (May) when he returned from college, he tried to use the gym, but was turned away because his membership was "revoked". My wife called the next day and made payment in full for his back balance (which was caused by an invalid charge card after ours was compromised). The next day, he again tried to use the gym and was told again that his membership was revoked. I then contacted the branch manager named Naomi, and after several days was told that there was nothing they could do but start over with a brand new membership (at 2x to 3x our contracted prices). This poor decision apparently came from David Bogdan, the regional manager of this poorly run organization. Clearly they are in violation of contract law by accepting our payments, but not providing the services contracted for. Beware of joining this company!
