Commerce Bank Stay away

Well, I have been a customer of Commerce Bank for the past year. The other day I got paid direct deposit which was $1040 after taxes and I also deposited another $2000 in the bank as well. I took some friends and a co-worker to lunch and my atm card was declined. I called the bank and was told they deactivated the card because I used my atm card on at a casino atm. I was pissed. I cursed them out something terrible. Needless to say, I'm moving on and getting a new bank. Do Not get Commerce as your bank!

Commerce Bank Illegal action

I was trying to deposit 1980.00 cash deposit into bank account, after handling the cash to the teller, she claims that I give her only 1780.00, after asking her for some physical bills that I give her. She bring me different money, to prove that she is lying,

I try to deposit 400.00, but I memorize the serial numbers of the bills, but before finishing the transaction, I ask for the some money, she give the different money, than the manager confess that once you put the money in the machine to be counted, you cannot has the some money, but the some amount, which mean if the machine is wrong about counting, than you are out of luck for good.

Is illegal for bank to mix the consumer money with their money before finishing transaction of counting and printing his receipt of deposit? I'm trying to Federal Reserve help line, please anyone with the some situation.

Commerce Bank Reopened a closed account and charged late fees

I closed my account at Commerce in June 2007. I recently received a collection notice for $100. I went to the bank and their explanation was that in August they gave their customers a rebate of $4.00 which opened the account automatically which began the monthly charge for being below the minimum. Can they do that? Now they are giving the run around. I have 30 days to pay the $100 before it goes into collection and reported to the credit report. I was told go back in couple of days and speak to the bank manager after he has had a chance to look at the paperwork.

Doesn't surprise me at all. They're ###. They get fees any way they can. Report them to the BBB. Keep on them. You don't have to pay any fees for a closed account.

Commerce Bank This branch really sucks!

My car was stolen last year in june(06) and so were my commerce bank checks with a whole lot of other personal property. My car was stolen at about 11 pm on friday night I called 911 right about then and then called the customer service# behind my debit card and they refused to help me or take my info ( this is my debit card that was for the same checking account that the checks in my car were for). The COP arrived at like 4 am or so and was there for about 30 - 45 minutes and by the time I went to sleep it was like 5 am or so the next day which was Saturday I woke up like 2 or 3 pm the bank was closed by then so the following Monday I called a local commerce bank # and informed them of what had happened. A month later I started getting letters from collections agencies that's I had written bad checks .. I adv them of what had happened and called the branch that I had opened my account in and then went in the to sign affidavits that these were forged signatures so they closed that account and I opened a new account with them. Commerce bank received all info from the DA's office about the person who was caught, tried and convicted for this crime and I thought that was that and thought it was taken care of... Recently on the 19th of this month Commerce bank did a set off charge on my checking account and took $600 from my account I had $640. in there they took $600 and I had nothing to live on... the amount that was spent by the culprit was about $1800.00 now commerce bank wants to pursue me for the diff which is$ 1200 and they threaten legal action... the attorney I had retained last year and paid $500 to sd he will need another $1500 to take this CASE! I am stuck and don't know what to do... I mean that I will have to pay my attorney $1500 to recover $600 and to make sure that commerce bank doesn't try to garnish my wages or what ever they would do to get the other $1200.

I just dont know what to do I live paycheck to paycheck and cant afford this I have no Idea on how to take care of this who to go to... i mean I am the kind of person that don't steal from nobody I found $200 at work back in aug of last year and turned it in... I need help with this, someone please help me.

Commerce Bank Unavailable funds fee!

I have been arguing with the bank for the past 2 days to no avail. I checked my balance and there was an unavailable funds fee charged to my account, but the catch is that there were plenty of funds in there. I went to the bank on a Saturday and deposited a check and cash together as cash and was told the money would be available in my account right away. I, then decided that Sunday that I would charge my wedding dress since I had just made the deposit. Everything was fine until I went into work and checked my balance on Wednesday. I noticed the unavailable funds fee of $35 and called the bank because I know the funds were available or else I wouldn't have made the charges. I spoke with customer service, who said that I needed to speak with my branch. I was transferred to the branch where I opened the account and was left on hold for approximately five minutes and when I finally was speaking to someone, I told them I had a question about my account. The person then sighed and pretty much made me feel like an inconvenience because she had to look at my account to help me. She then told me that the charge for my wedding dress was for more than I had in the account and when I told her that a deposit was made, she said that anything done after 3pm credits the next business day and I told her that I made the deposit at 1pm and she started to strutter and tell me that it was actually anything done on after Friday at 6pm would not show up in my account until Monday. Then I told her that the charges and deposits should have shown up at the same time and would have evened everything out and she claimed it did not work that way because debits were taken before credits. I said fine, what about my deposit of cash and she said that I only deposited a check. I told her that there was a check, but I also deposited cash, and the cash would have covered my charges made on Sunday. She then said "well, I don't have time to go back and forth and argue with you". I said fine, I would like to speak with a supervisor and she said they had an assistant manager and I ok. She said the assistant manager was unavailable, so I asked when would they be available. She then proceeded to just repeat that they were unavailable and when I asked for a manager was told there was no manager on. I then asked to speak to someone above her and she said "Is there anything else I can do for you? Thank you" and ended the conversation. I was extremely upset because the bank charged me $35 for no reason. I then wrote an e-mail to the bank and got a response of the online payment I made on Monday (when the full amount of the deposit should have cleared), was the unavailable funds that I was charged for. I was told by the woman on the phone that the funds were "there", but they weren't really there", which made absolutely no sense. They then said that they cannot credit my account because they've already done a "courtesy credit" once, but that instance was also an error on the bank. I do not believe it is a "courtesy" when it is not your mistake, but the bank's. The e-mail written back to me also did not acknowledge the fact that I asked for a supervisor many times and was denied. The service I received was rude and I was not aware that the bank could with hold cash from you for two days because you decide to deposit it and not carry it around with you. If I had known they were going to hold my money from me, I would have just cashed the check and taken all of the cash and bought my wedding dress with that instead of going through this headache for my money back. I know it is only $35, but it is my $35 that can help pay my bills or a small cost of my wedding. What infuriates me even more is that they claim to be a friendly customer oriented bank, then why was I treated so rudely and bounced around so many times?!?!

Beware!

Ok, every adult with a bank account and a few functioning brain cells knows any deposit is not immediately available unless you have enough already in your account to cover the deposit. Especially after 3 pm. Or the weekend. That's pretty much the same everywhere. Even a cash deposit at an ATM will be treated like a check for some time. Do you think they send someone out every evening to empty the ATM? Patience folks, patience.

"Unfriendly banking policies and uncaring staff"

I travelled abroad, so was late paying the credit card. They charged a late fees on my account. Since it was my first time paying late, I called customer service in hope they would waive the late fee. My request is denied. When I asked for a reason, the representative told me that they will only excuse customers who pay late for very first time. I then asked why my late fee was not waived since it was also first time of me paying late? She idled for a while and vaguely replied "maybe you have not been using the card actively or as often, so we cannot excuse you!" She even declined my request to speak to a supevisor. Horrible experience!

This bank is horrible. My fiance' keeps getting his account frozen atleast once a month for no reason, and when we try to talk to anyone they say that there is nothing they can do but dispute the charge that is causing it. They always say that they do not know who is trying to take his money. We do eventually get it back in 2 to 3 weeks but it just happens again.

7 19 2011 This is the third day and numerous messages to get a Commerce Bank representative from Belleville IL and St Louis to return a call regarding my bank, savings, and loan accounts with a timely inquiry and reply to my emails and calls! This Bank seems to send out (unfriendly and disregard to customer relationships?) notices to customers and then will not service them? What else can I do? I am a Business, Customer, and Senior who cannot get a response or reply? I have a great credit rating and stay current and sometimes in advance with my loan payments, however am treated terribly, disrespectfully, and disregard to this Banking relationship. I will be changing Banks!

we just started banking at commerce not too long ago, when my fiance went to talk to one of the reps there, later to only find out that she was spilling her sob stories to him about her break up, come on really!?! that's is far from professional. i dont appreciate that kind of relationship with banks esp. w/ my future husband, on top of that this rep said she'll help him close down the account to move it to the next, and never did! what kind of yahoo cesspool are they running there?

Same thing happened to me! After 5 moderately content years at commerce, a new teller deposited my payroll check instead of cashing it out and depositing the cash, as instructed. I catch the error shortly thereafter on a quick trip to the ATM - before withdrawing - contact the bank over the phone, they apologize and "fix it" - i check my balance, everything's square and I withdraw $60 - the next day I check my balance again [i've learned to be critical of commerce bank] and I'm now negative!

I contact the bank immediately, they make some mumbling excuse and ten minutes later my account is back over $800 again, so I take them at their word that everythings been corrected. I might ad that this exact thing happened not once, but twice within two months with different "new" tellers and different lame apologies...

Couple weeks go by and I discover they've been charging me overdraft fees?! Overdraft fees on a banker's [teller's] error?! I contact the bank, they admit fault and they assure me everything will be corrected Monday morning. Then I get the phone call monday morning from a woman who proceeds to tell me that i am wrong and talk down to me as though I'm ignorant, don't know what I'm talking about, and am at fault - then offers to erase one of the overdraft fees as a 'customer care' measure.

I get off the phone and immediately search google for "commerce bank reviews" to see if this happened to other people and low and behold, right at the top of the page is this.

Unbelievable.

Commerce Bank Lost wages, lost stock options, theft of personal property!

I was wrongfully terminated by Commerce Bank on July 28, 2006. I was treated wholly differently by the employer based on my race, disability (bi-polar) and religion (Roman Catholic). I was demoted in rank, withheld without cause from training classes, a berated by the management because I requested a transfer to another branch of the bank and because of my interest in advancement.

I was told that I had to obtain the permission of my manager, Soubhi Tabbara, before I could log on to "career launch", the bank's internet site for positions. I logged on during Easter weekend 2006 with an interest in a training instructor position.

The regional HR office informed Soubhi of my interest even though they were not allowed to inform him until I actually applied. Soubhi berated me in front of the staff. Also, I was barred from ever talking about my religion in writing by HR. Even though numerous other members of the staff talked about their religions or irreligious views. both assistant managers stated that they were atheists and irreligious.

I was passed up for promotion by an illegal immigrant who was less qualified than myself. I was only given a 4% raise while other staff members were given 7-9% raises. I was denied lending authority and the customary stock options that come with the authority even though I handled more loans than most staff members.

Even after termination Commerce could not leave me alone. I had to return home to PA. I applied for numerous banking positions only to be turned down because of my references. I even applied for a seasonal position at a retail store and again turned down because of my references from Commerce Bank.

I filed for unemployment and after two separate hearings I was granted unemployment. Commerce files an appeal three weeks before Christmas. Because of this I had no money for Christmas gifts and my holiday was ruined.

I want to sue Commerce for lost wages, lost stock options, theft of personal property (including handwritten letters from my deceased Grandmother), defamation of character, and pain and suffering. People beware of this bank!

payment as been showing scheduled for one day later than the due date for at least a week. I tried to remove it and reenter and it said it was already scheduled for the due date. Recent transactions are not showing. This should not have taken more than a day or so to resolve if they were having a problem.
