Bluegreen Vacation Club / stay away from this scam!

1 United States Review updated:

My husband and I purchased a timeshare through Bluegreen at ShoreCrest I in No Myrtle Beach, SC. We have 12,000 points every other year. As, GT McDaniel, we soon learned that we didn't have enough points to use the timeshare for an entire week. Whenever I called to make a reservation, there were never any openings. The $149.00 week stay rather than using our points, never heard of. We also have RCI bonus weeks that are useless! We were definitely mislead. We pay outrageously high interest to a mortgage company owned by Bluegreen, Conflict of interest. No attorney was present at the loan closing. We were never told about the maintenance fee, which is exorbitant, between the monthly payment and the maintenance fee I don't know how much longer we can hold out. We tried to sell our timeshare back to bluegreen, they refused, referred us to a real estate company (Pinnacle Vacations) owned by Bluegreen...I paid Pinnacle $35.00 in 2005 and again in Dec 2006. Nothing! Hope we can do something about this. Thinking of going to the Atty Gen.

Thanks for listening.

I think we all are in the same boat with trying get rid of our timeshare. Promise buyback but never happen, referred to Pinnacle only to be told asking price to high probably won't sell. Yes, very hard to sell . Please contact me if going to the next step is Attorney General with lawsuit.

We are also extremely unhappy Bluegreen Owners. We knew better when we first bought into Bluegreen, but did it anyway. They made is sound so good. Then brilliant people that we are six months later let them talk us into buying more points so we could be charter members, which we now find out we can't list unless we ask $17, 000 for our points.. Of course we'll be lucky if the points sold for $17 much less $17, 000. While the sales personnel did not out and out lie, they also did not tell the whole truth. They did not directly inform us that even if the loan were completely paid off, our children and grandchildren would be responsible for the annual maintenance fees. The last time we were pressured into buying more points. I said at least three times that we could not afford any more points. That is when the sales person said the value of the points had increased significantly since we first purchased points and that trend was expected to continue. She said that in a few years if we decided the time share was no longer something we wanted that "they" and I took that to mean the consultant at Paradise Point would sale the timeshare for us. She said she could not guarantee a profit but there was every reason to believe that we would make a little money from the sale. She convinced us it was a investment and we were stupid enough to believe it. The time share is now paid for at least as far as Bluegreen is concerned. At this point all I want is to give it away, preferably back to Bluegreen, however, our last visit to Paradise Point sales center with a different sales person made is crystal clear that Paradise Point will not buy back or even take back of points. They only want to sell more points.

@Edward McCreight Hi, you need to contact Jim at timeshare his email is, they cannot legally sell you the timeshare as an investment, Jim can use that to get you out and your money back. I hired him twice, once to get us out then again to get mom and dad out of a different timeshare. Good luck
