cheap construction
I bought a table and chairs from the Mission Hills Collection that were described as;
Construction: Constructed using veneers over wood and select solids.
The select solids turn out to be plastic! All the trim on the set is plastic that scratches easily and shows white against the dark oak set color. I called corpotorate and set up an in home visit from their repair people. They said it was a cheap set, what do I expect! I was told I should have shopped at Gormans if I wanted quality. I called back to coporate and was told that they will not take the set back as it is over the 30 day return period. I can pay to have the plastic repainted or they will give me 15% off a new dinning set. This is crappy service. I'll take my money elsewhere.
I contacted the BBB after posting here and guess what? Art Van called me today and will credit me the purchase price of the old table and give me 15% off a new table. Thanks BBB.

false advertising
Art van is full of _! I bought a $1800.00 mattress on sale for 50% off, with promises and so on. Long story short, it was not even a firm matress which the livonia sales clerk told me it was, next day delivery, "not when there is a sale, we are too busy", found out that their satisfaction guarantee is only good for 30 days (When I took them to small claims court), and the 15 year warranty on the mattress, well mine was measured and found to be very defective, but they claim it had a stain on it... There was no stain. When trying to get them to replace it due to increasing back problems from sleeping on it (I am 49), the general manager in corporate said there is no such thing as firm and laughed in my face, when I told them I can't even sit on the side of it without slipping off, more than 3 supervisors told me "beds are not made to sit on" and "sitting on a mattress anymore than 30 seconds is considered excessive", well... I tried to file with better business bureau, they refused to accept the report saying it was stained! That is the issue.. It is not! Sone one told me now that if they are a member of bbb, bbb never accepts a complaint from one of their paying bbb members... Could that be why there were no records of any complaints for any art van. Also in small claims court, I was not even able to tell the whole story, art van stopped me and showed the judge warranty that I never ever saw and the case was dismissed. Michigans mattress leaders, what a laugh!

stinks
I bought an expensive kitchen table and chair and within two years, the finish dulled and weakened leaving the table vunlerable to scratches and water rings. The service person could give no reason why the finish looked the way it did but he was "sure it wasn't covered."
I bought the warrenty but of course Art Van said it is not covered. I wrote letters the headquarters and still no help. I have been a customer for over 10 years and they could care less!
I was on hold forever and the woman I spoke to was rude. I will never shop at any of their locations again! I advise everyone against buying anything from them, it is not worth it!

sold defective furniture
Bought recliner and sofa, which arrived in disrepair. Then have had 5 visits, soon to be 6 to put new mechanisms in chair, whole new spring system in sofa. It's just now a year, with all these problems, how could it ever last much longer? *** furniture, will never buy again. I bought this furniture at Art Van Furniture in Battle Creek, MI. I've had to deal with one rude lady during our many phone calls and I've wasted 15-20 hours of my time waiting around for people to come fix it again and again.Next time I will shop somewhere else.

terrible service
We bought a leather couch from art van along with the lifetime warranty in 2007. Within the first 6 months the color and dye was wearing off. Called service and they came out and replaced the seat cushions, but said this was a courtesy only. Well, the color has worn off again, and service came out and refuses to do anything about this problem. Told us that it is normal wear and tear. A leather couch should last for years. My kids have a leather couch that we gave them and it is at least 15 years old. No problem with the color. I am very upset with art van for not taking care of this problem and it looks as they are selling inferior furniture that they won't stand behind. They have my money and now the * with the customer. Never buy another thing from them, they have lost their integrity.

I have shopped with Art Van Furniture for the last 23 years. Their service is horrible and they sell poor quality furniture . I will never shop with this furniture store again!
Purchased 2 leather chairs a couple of weeks ago. My 3 year old granddaughter thought it would be cute to put scratches on one of the arms with her fingernail (keep in mind, this is a 3 year olds fingernail). We were sold the protection warranty stating that if there were any scratches, tears or anything the extended warranty would cover it. When I called the store, I was told it was not covered because it was not a manufacture warranty. Last year I purchased a special order sofa with down filling and was SOLD the protection plan for the cushions in case they broke down because it was down. I have not had the sofa even a year and the cushions are breaking down and when I called Art Van I was told that it was normal for Down and that all Down sofas did that and it was not covered and yet their sales person SOLD me the couch and the protection plan when she knew I was concerned about it and said it would be totally covered. I think Art Van needs a class action lawsuit!
Art Van will never be able to please everybody. They are one very successful company! And will be around forever!
#1 no furniture last forever
#2 most people do not take proper care of their furniture
#3 leather is from a real animal. If us humans dont put lotion on our skin gets dry & cracks, same thing happens when you don't clean & condition your furniture!
#4 of course delivery is not free! Who the hell delivers for free?
#5 maybe the cows are not being fed properly these days! Lol get a grip dont sit on cows if you cant take care of them properly!
#6 measure your area before you make a purchase. Smh
#7 I would never want someone's OLD furniture touching mine! How sick of course they will not take and disposed of thousands of people's old furniture!
#8 mattresses are not made to be sat on to watch TV. You lay down on a matress and ive never owned a matress that didnt get an impression from my body! Check your mattress support it starts there! That is the matress companys policies.
#9 don't soil a mattress with your sweat pee or other fluids and think the mattres company wants it back.
#10 almost all sells people lie! Don't think Art Van has God sent Angles to see you furniture. Thats not Arts fault its dishonest people who are working to pay their bills. Its not ok but its not the only place that has imperfect employees.
#11 Go somewhere else and see if their furniture last forever!? U cant buy a car tear it up and give it back 18 months later...
#12 If you take your furniture home your risking a lot but I'm sure if a couch falls off you would expect Art to cover it. Get it delivered, if anything happens in the process (not a week later) they will take care of you!
Happy shopping elsewhere.
I love everything Ive bought from them! I do not mind paying $99.00 to get it delivered I rather let the delivery team earn a living.
I had bought a leather ottoman from art van about two years ago. I had also bought the extended warranty. My piece of leather furniture started to bubble. The top of the ottoman that bubbled started to peal. I thought that leather was one solid piece. How can the surface peal off the rest of the leather. I think that it is some kind of top layer and not real leather. They also at the store level told me that i waited to long to call and report it. That it is not repairable. So the extended warranty that I purchased was a total scam. I also will never buy anything from Art Scam. From now on all of my purchases will be from Gardner White.
I purchased a mattress from them. It has an indentation on the R side. I cannot lay in the middle of the bed because I lean and fall into this hole. The bed leans to the head of the bed. It's like sleeping on your head. I can't sit on the side of the bed without leaning to the right. When I get up the mattress draws in air. Which is very audible. The serviceman came out measured over 1'1/2 in drop and say the other problems and said it should be replaced. His report stated it was 1-1/4 inched and it met standards. I had to wait 30 days for another serviceman to see. He came in an measured the head of the bed. I showed him where the problems were and he would not even discuss them with me. He ignored what I was saying. Naturally his report showed and inch and said it met standards again. I called Simmons and they sent a Rep. to contact Art Van. He only went with what Art Van's reports said and would not honor the warranty. Again, who is listening to me. I have E-mailed him to come to my home and see this mattress for himself. I am waiting for a response.
Art Van are liars and scammers. Synchrony Bank who the finance through is making me wait 60 days for a dispute to get my money back. They will not take information from me or talk with the Dispute Department. They say they are taking down my information, but they are not. They will contact Art Van and use those fraudulent reports to make their decision. What a Fraud.
Art Van recently built a mega store in Toledo. Thought we would investigate, what a mistake. Bought a chair and learned it would be $99 to deliver! So when you shop there be sure to add $100-200 to the price you are looking at because the prices do not include delivery. We asked if that included hauling off our old chair and the salesmen assured us it did. He went on to sell us warranties, again none of their furniture comes with warranties, so add that in too...delivered the chair and refused to take the old chair saying "oh we never do that". Mad as hell, they lied! Kept the chair but went back and got a refund for the warranties...if they lied once they will lie again...have seen many posts about their lying, seems to be their standard practice. Stick with local stores that have full service and care about their reputation.

same thin just happened to my husband and I this morning . Art van are liars and stealers our leather couch did the same thing they blamed us for not taking care of it . They were trying all they could to make this our fault fact is that the cushions are worn out its like the leather is lifted right off its like paint I bet it is not leather at all and that's why they want nothing to do with fixing it . So they take our money and laugh at us cuz they know that they just scammed us . I have been reading blogs about this all morning everyone is saying the same thing so in my view of things we are not all wrong. We all need to get together and bring this poor excuse of a company DOWN ! Lets stand together and do something about this corporate GREED...
It's all about making money for Art Van...quality and customer service have gone out the window. I ordered a "low profile" box spring from Art Van to help shorten the height of my bed after getting new bedroom furniture from another company (thank God). I went in, clearly stated what I wanted, the sales lady ordered it for me, and off I went. When I went to pick up the box spring with 2 friends of mine, it looked a little thicker than I had expected, but I didn't think too much of it. We got it home and realized it was actually the same size as the old one. When I called to make them aware of the problem, the sales lady got a little snippy with me and blamed the whole thing on me saying that I never stated I wanted the "low profile" box spring. I know what I said and told her she was the one who entered the info wrong, not me. She said she would reorder the item and call me later that day to follow up. She never called back that day, and when she finally did, she left a message on my machine saying, "I found your number in my pocket and knew I had to call you but I don't remember why." Seriously? When I called her back, I requested that she give me free delivery for all the trouble, and she simply said, "they don't do that." Finally I went to management and after hemming and hawing with him, he finally gave in and told me it would be delivered free of charge. Pretty sad I had to actually ask for it. A company who truly knows how to do business and cares about their customers would have gone out of their way to "right" their "wrong." Apparently, Art Van is not one of them.
I, too, bought a leather sofa, chair and ottoman from Art Van. About 18 mos. my leather sofa started to crack and I didn't buy a cheap set. The service said that I did not take care of the sofa properly, even though the chair was perfectly fine, and voided my warranty. I had the leather protection and DID take care of it. Even if I did not take care of it properly, good leather should not crack within a year. Service department was rude too. I will never buy another leather sofa from Art Van. I would rather paydouble and buy somewhere else.
poor quality
I purchased the San Marino Collection from Art Van in Warren on February 21st of 2008 for $5300. On April 5th of 2009 the King bed fell through to the floor. I called Art Van and found out the warranty on the bed was only 1 year. Upon closer look of the bed I found it to be flawed in design.
The mattress and dual box springs are supported by slats which are only supported in the middle by posts and on the edges by a 3/4" wooden rail. The mattress rests on the rails which rests on a 1" lip that is screwed into the rail. The screw is only into the rail about 1/4" in, and there is some glue on the rail.
All the weight of the mattress and dual box springs basically puts the most pressure on the rails because of the fact that there are 2 box springs. The centre actually acts as a pivot point when the couple sleeps on the sides of the bed.
I love the bedroom set and the bed was never abused. The Art Van salesperson confirmed that there was atleast one other customer of his that had the same thing happen to them.
I purchased another set of rails but after 2 months of waiting I cancelled and went to a metal California frame. The problem is it dropped the bed 3-4 inches, and I was looking to see if they would switch out the low profile box springs with standard height box springs.
Upon calling to see what Art Van can do, they basically told me I was out of luck. In dealing with manager Doug Primo, he told me the following:
"If you purchased a car from Chrysler and there was a loose bolt in the transmission which was a manufacturer's error and the transmission blew just after the warranty expired, they wouldn't fix it either."
Basically he didn't deny that there was a quality problem, but wasn't willing to help out.
This is absolutely inexcusable for a bedroom set which I paid $5300 for. It's still in financing and isn't due to be paid until the end of this month.
I don't know anyone that has this kind of money to throw out after 13.5 months.
Their customer service was absolutely worthless and I plan to let people know of the kind of service they provide, especially as the Canadian dollar gets higher and others look to buy in the US.
I would like to see if their management really care about the customer and be willing to rectify this issue and make amends.

We bought furniture from Art Van in Tawas, Michigan. We were lied to from the start. The manager said he would make it right. He did not! We are left with junk furniture that is literally falling apart and it's less than 6 months old. What happened to the OLD Art Van? The one you could trust. No more! They sell junk and back it up with lies. Also, beware of the service people they send out. God knows where they come from. Jmo
I purchased a bed from Art Van Holland, Oh last year for $$$$. They say the bed is made of wood but since close inspection it’s not. It’s plastic! I really feel cheated and am about to contact the attorneys general in my state and let them know they are selling furniture and claiming it’s wood when it’s not. What wood they did use has lots of Worm Holes!
I have more pictures and the description of the supposed materials this bed is made of.
I bought a mattress at Art Van store at April /2017 and after only one month and half of use we started to have some issues. It starts to sink in the middle of the mattress and it is showing a inadequate support in the center. When I went to the store the salesperson showed me a mattress with high level of support, so that is what I really would like and then I paid $1.400 usd.
I called to the customer service, wait for two weeks to a visit and then I was surprised with the tests made by a person to tell me that there is no damage at mattress, he only measured if the foam deformed in the middle in a still state, and my complaint was that when lying on the mattress we noticed that the foam is very sensitive and sinks improperly.
The indentation force (load carrier), which must be linked to the density value, evaluates the weight of the foam on it per square meter. This force is the main indicator of the quality of the foam produced, since the material should be soft at the beginning of the deflection (lying down) and soon after resisting. This force also determines the comfort factor in the regions of the human body, in the lying position, where the maximum efforts - shoulders and hips occur.
It is frustration that I paid $ 1.400 for a good mattress and we are experiencing this situation.

I have advice when dealing with Art Van...I will get there in a moment...but first, If I could give 0 stars I would. I purchased a table, 6 chairs, a buffet, a bedroom set, and 2 sofas, and ottoman, a media cabinet and a chair from Art Van in December. There were 3 different errors before they finally had the order right. Customer Service is awful so...there is that. The sofa, a chair, and the buffet came damaged. The sofa was sliced, the chair was wobbly (it was broken), and the cabinet doors were way off centered. The first thing Art Van wanted to do was send a tech to repair these items. They came in damaged! We had to fight to get replacements. This seems to be the first line of defense for any item that is purchased from them. I have seen and heard of this happening from many customers. Tip 1: There is a law stating they must give you a replacement. Do not settle for a "fix". So on with my story... By February, the sofas looked like we had them for years - we barely used them. They were a bit expensive, so you think they would hold up...but no. We finally ordered a new set, everything came in wrong. They sent us furry furniture that we did not order. My home now looks like a 70's p studio. After hours of straightening things out. We have to wait another 6-10 weeks. They never did replace the kitchen chair as promised. The last time I called customer service, they told me they would not. I had to fight for that too...still waiting. But hey, it has only been 6 months. So on we go, the chairs I purchased started pilling (like really bad), I had service come out and basically they told me too bad and that I should take a razor to them (The guy was such an ###, I later kicked him out of my house). I asked why I purchased the protection plans and was told that these plans only cover "warrantee specific issues"...Tip 2, Do not buy the Protection Plan, it is useless. On top of it all, the buffet and dresser started randomly chipping/flaking. I know it is strange but true. When service came out to look at my chairs, I asked if he could look at the flaking paint. He told me no and that furniture does not just chip/flake. Again, it did and what is the point of the protection plan? It was a two second fix for him. I contacted Corporate and Trish there told me they would do nothing for me. She was by far the rudest person that I have dealt with. I do not want anything but for them to stand behind their service and their products. I should have taken the money I spent and set it on fire, I would have been further ahead. The irony of this is, that I was going to buy online for way less money, but I was afraid there would be quality issues. Ha! the joke is on me! The same chairs I bought for $250 (the ones that pill and look as if I have had them for 10 years), you can buy them for $50 on Overstock. I have learned my lesson. I will not be shopping at Art Van again and I would not recommend it to anyone. It is a lot of frustration. Tip 3: Contact a Consumer Advocate immediately, if you are having issues. They are very helpful and hear about things like this all the time (especially from Art Van). I On a positive note, I have been in contact with some of their vendors, and they are super upset at the way things have been handled, so we will see if that gets me anywhere...maybe eventually, my home will not look like a p studio with random broken furniture lying around. I am not done, I will not be done until things are made right. If you are having similar issues, do the same. They should not be allowed to get away with treating customers this way.People pay good money and should not have to accept garbage. I am pretty sure that the only positive reviews are from people who work here.
This tells you that Art Van company is a bunch of thugs. It's the same story everywhere. Years ago, I worked for Art Van (owned by Archie Van Elslander, that's his real name) and the managers were even teaching us to lie and shove the Home Warranty, Fabric Protection, Leather Protection, and Extended Warranty down customers' throat. They call them "Valu Added products" but they actually have no value because they are not needed by the customers at all. The only reason they want their salespeople to sell them is because the managers get a fat check at the end of the month while they do not deliver on their promise. You should also look at their advertisement deception. I do not know how they get away with this? Maybe Archie pays someone off. They tell you mattresses are 50% off, but for 5 years prices were exactly the same--exorbitant! Don't believe me and do this experiment by yourselves. Check the prices before and after their "Big Blowout Mattress Sale"! Furthermore, they tell you in their ads that you will get up to 70% off in the entire store; it turns out that the only item that is discounted at 70% is some small lamp or Clearance Center damaged piece of wood. Oh, and when they say you get 50% off, they mean off the original price or "compare at price" that some store somewhere in Michigan or out of State tagged and inflated the price 15 times over. Example, a couch's "compare at" price they tag at $2000.00, so their 50% Sale price would be $1000.00, not $500.00! They make 1000% profit when they purchase that couch from China for only $50.00!If you go to Art van store the week after the Sale is over (which never ends because they have a sale every day!), you will find out that the couch is tagged at $1000.00 again, or maybe $1100.00. That's the mirage and deception they sell us.
I can not believe that some people are still buying from Art Van Furniture due to " quality". Let's hear them when they get a warranty issue. Art Van holds Thanksgiving Parade and sponsors Cancer Treatment Center, but for of tax purposes, since he makes $500.00 million per year. Yes he donated one Million to charity this year, but he cut off Profit Sharing benefits from employees and salespeople who stand on their feet for 11 hours a day working for him on a strict commission (with no salary) and on all weekends and Holidays, even when Art Van is making money and not affected by the economy!
The one who doesn't care about his employees is fake and just a show off, no matter how many parades or Treatment Centers he sponsors.
Art Van is full of ____! I bought a $1800.00 mattress on sale for 50% off, with promises and so on. I tried to file with Better Business Bureau, they refused to accept the report saying it was stained! That is the issue..it is NOT! Sone one told me now that if they are a member of BBB, BBB never accepts a complaint from one of their paying BBB members...could that be why there were no records of any complaints for any Art Van. Also in small claims court, I was not even able to tell the whole story, Art Van stopped me and showed the judge warranty that I never ever saw and the case was dismissed. MICHIGANS MATTRESS LEADERS, what a laugh!
lying salespeople - beware
After selecting a bunk bed set for my two daughters, the sales person tells my wife and I that for an additional $50 we can have the set sitting next to the one we had picked. It included an under-bed set of drawers. She specifically told us that it came with the drawers. So we paid the additional money. When I picked up the bed I was a little concerned that it came in three fairly small boxes. So I went back into the store and had the store manager AND the sales rep reconfirm that I had the drawers. Of course, after getting the set home and unpacking it all I realize that there is no drawer set. So my wife and I were lied to by the sales rep and I was lied to again by the sales rep and the manager. This is a bait and switch and I'm pursuing a refund. Needless to say, I have two very disappointed daughters.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DEAL WITH ART VAN. THE SALES REPS ARE ON COMMISSION AND THEY WILL APPARENTLY DO ANYTHING TO GET YOU TO SPEND MORE MONEY WITH THEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE SALES REP AND THE MANAGER REPEATEDLY LIED TO US.
If we receive a satisfactory resolution to this I will update this complaint, but I'm not holding my breath.
Well, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Art Van manager made good on the promised item and actually apologized for the misunderstanding. The sales rep was new and mis-read the product information when she promised the under-bed drawers. The item *should* have been a $100 add-on but they gave it to us because of the sales rep's promise. They could have denied any obligation because we didn't have anything in writing, but they lived up to the sales rep's word. I'M IMPRESSED AND WILL VERY LIKELY RETURN TO ART VAN FOR ADDITIONAL PURCHASES AND TELL OTHERS ABOUT THEIR QUICK ACTION TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.

Richard from the Portage store promised us our furniture would ALL be delivered on on the same date (end of April). We were moving into our house that weekend. He LIED flat out to our face because the furniture was on back order. We are now two weeks of living in our home without any bedroom furniture. When I called to talk to him he told me to put the mattress on the floor and sleep there. I called the corporate office and they did nothing to help us out. We spent a lot of money on the furniture set and bedroom set and believe we were treated so poorly. Stay away from Richard. He is a ###.
Agree 100%. NEVER BUY FROM ART VAN Pure Sleep, Plymouth, MI. . 1st, the sales people lie and don't give you the promotions they advertise. 2nd they will say anything to sell you, make up things lie etc. 3rd, after the sale if there is a problem, they could care less and all they want is for you to leave their store. 4th their mattress prices are inflated so they can make offered prices seem too good to be true.
My story is similar in that their dealings after the sale may be the worst in my experience. They are rude, condescending, arrogant, untruthful and UNTHANKFUL for your business. I had a delivery and at time of delivery it was identified by the drivers that the item didn't fit correctly in my bed frame. The drivers had me call sales. I called Art Van Pure Sleep in Plymouth. Scott was the manager. He told me they would leave the bases for the mattress and bring a different model base at an added expense that was agreed too. He told me that I needed to go in the next day to pay the difference.
So I go in the next day and Scott my salesperson, a different Scott (apparently there are two), told me the manager wasn't authorized to make the deal and they would not exchange the base, "sorry company policy". I showed him the delivery paperwork indicating that the bases were delivered and noted that were to be exchanged. He said that the driver wasn't authorized to write that.
So I asked how they could tell me that and get me accept delivery and/or why would Scott dress down his own company people. He said" I can't take them back, what am I supposed to do with them" he said I can have my boss explain our policy to you. He said the following "I don't know what to tell you". Which is code for I am done with you.
So I contacted American Express and communicated my side of what happened. They are disputing 100% of the charge and told me that they have 30 days to respond. Till then, I guess, we will find out about policies vs the power of the consumer. When they call me I guess I'll say "I don't know what to tell you, ask Scott.
Lance Fielder at the Ann Arbor Art Van Furniture is a liar and a thief. He literally tried to overcharge us $100, and did not remove the extra charge until I asked him to remove it... TWICE. The guy is a dishonest swindler. LANCE FIELDER - ANN ARBOR ART VAN.
I think it is funny that customers are quick to say that a salesperson "lied" to them. Just by reading the comment I was able to determine that the sales person just didnt know that it did not come with the boxes. Saying that they "lied" is just ignorant on your part. It would be stupid for them to tell you it came with them but actually did not, knowing that you would be calling back once you got home with it. I mean, come on.

Also in small claims court, I was not even able to tell the whole story, Art Van stopped me and showed the judge warranty that I never ever saw and the case was dismissed. MICHIGANS MATTRESS LEADERS, what a laugh!
poor service
My wife and I purchased an Entertainment sectional back in August 2005. The salesman asked us if we wanted to purchase the fabric protection for the furniture. At first we told him that it would not be needed as food and drink are not allowed in our movie room. He pressed the issue several times, each time we turned him down. He then asked if we had any pets. We told him that we owned a small Beagle, put that he was not allowed on the furniture. The salesman then went into a long speech on how the fabric protection plan was great for pet owners because if the animal gets any stains on the fabric that we can’t clean Art Van will send out their specialist to clean it, if they are unsuccessful Art Van will replace the piece for free. This is completely untrue. This past month my son accidentally scared our dog, who then jumped on the sectional and urinated. When I called the store to find out what my options were, I was informed that the fabric protection only covers stained caused by human sources, so they would not even attempt to clean it. As for replacing, that to was out of the question. It appears that between August of 2005 and March 2006 the item has been discontinued. Art Van is however trying to contact the manufacturer to see how much it would cost to rebuild the piece……It’s been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear from them. I have spoken to the store manager about the fabric protection, and it was a big surprise to him that the plan only covered stain caused by humane sources. However, he could not refund my money for the plan. (That was not a big surprise to me.)

delivery guys clumsy
I ordered 2 beds with mattress including a dressing mirror and chest for my home recently, and both of these beds were scheduled for free delivery. I was happy for the free delivery but only for the clumsy delivery guys who were so ruff and inconsiderate. They just rushed into my home, virtually hitting the stairway and the walls. I was so much annoyed as they were not even sorry for the accident (Which would have been not one... If they were little considerate of someones property..)
They even do not wear any disposable shoe cover before entering the home.
I totally condemn such rustic delivery guys...

king koil queen mattress-horrible!!
We -are still paying on! a $2000.00 King Koil Queen Sz.Memory foam Mattress purchased in 9/07. It is NOT what we expected-very uncomfortable, no support-stiff/sore backs, hips every morning-horrible! Art Van sent out a "service tech"-he measured the depth of the mattress/said all was normal and that's it-called the store in Chesterfield, MI were we bought it-the
nasty supervisor we spoke with said there was nothing they could do-my husband let her know we'd spent alot of $$ @ Art Van over the years and
we'd like some real response to our dissatisfaction-to be exact-get King Koil to take back their unsupportive, expensive mattress-and refund our $$! Art Van furniture will not see any more of our
hard earned $$ EVER AGAIN!

I am going thru the same thing now...was told I could return mattress, pay a fee of $149. Mattress is very hard, not like what was in the store, told to walk in my knees and on my feet to break in mattress. Never heard if anything so stupid. Considered pur cashing a floor model, of course more $'s. Do not want a dirty mattress for the money being paid. Long story short asked for a refund, guess what no refunds. Not sure what is to b done, already purchased a new mattress.
I wish I would have found this review site sooner. I bought my king koil foam mattress 6 months ago at the Art Van off Woodward near Royal Oak and it was great until this last month. It has become very soft and is caving in to the point that my back and shoulders are aching everyday. I weigh 125 pounds and sleep on the bed alone so I see no reason a mattress that costed almost $2000 would be this broken down already! My back is in pain on all of my pressure points within minutes of laying on it to the point I now am sleeping on the couch to relieve the pain while I search for a solution and replacement. I'm very disappointed and shocked this isn't more widely known to where these things would be pulled off the shelves or greatly reduced in price. My first mattress I ever bought was a $700 Sealy and it lasted 10 years without ever causing me this kind of discomfort. I am calling the store and manufacturer this week and will update my results here.
Agree - this mattress (and the joke of a warranty that went with it) is horrible! I bought it about 5 years ago, spent about $1500 and was told there was a 25 year warranty. It started breaking down after about 3 years and it has now been 5, my back is killing me and I have to sleep with a pillow under it! Tech came out today and I was told that it has to be sagging at least 1 1/2" to be covered and that mine wasn't enough. There is no way I can keep it until it's that bad! I will not buy a mattress at Art Van or King Koil again.
Bought a king size mattress set at Art Van and found out we had a infestation of Bed Bugs.. . so bad it was recommended we throw away mattress and box frame.
Sincerely,
Terrified to sleep
15 percent restocking fee never mentioned at purchase but hidden in the fine print. Item doesn't fit up stairwell according to their delivery people and I get hit with a 200.00 bill plus 80.00 delivery charge to send it back. Bad business model.
Same problem here. They sold us a bed, that when in the store was Very comfortable. That's Not what we got. We got a POS mattress that is Worse than sleeping on concrete! Very Deceiving Salespeople! I was sleep deprived for a week (on top of the 6 years with our old mattress), not to mention the Horrendous pain I was in. We WILL be taking them to court! I promise you that!
I am having the same problem with the same brand mattress. I bought the king koil king size foam mattress and three months later my back and shoulder was hurting. I was told by the service guys that the foam mattresses are perfect when you do the pure sleep test but when you get them home, the mattress soon is too soft and sags in the center. He went on to explain the salesman should sale mattresses that are a little firmer than the one actually chosen to adjust for the sag three months later. I wish I had knew this then. I have not received a new mattress and have slept on the couch many nights to avoid back pain. I purchased this set for 2600 dollars and the expensive mattress cover and rails, so there are no stains but still in pain. I asked if I could return the mattress and receive one a little firmer, but of course no, not until the serviceman deems it defective. I will never purchase such a mattress again from Art Van where they are the ones who push there 25 year warranty bull**** down the customers throat.
your fault. why should art van pay for your mistake. it could have stayed on your first floor. you bought it it was in the house. your fault that it didnt fit where you wanted it.
I agree with all the complaints regarding the King Koil foam mattress and its comfort issues. I bought it at Art Van in Howell and was very satisfied with it until the last two months. Both my girlfriend and I have been waking with back pain. Art Van came out and determined the mattress was fine and showed only an inch depression in the middle of the mattress and that an 1 1/2 is necessary for any action to be taken. Obviously this product breaks down much to quickly, I haven't even had it a year. I'm still dealing with Art Van in Howell, they sent two techs out and still haven't told me they wont refund my money. I was told I have to deal with the general manager, however I don't expect that I'll get a refund.
I highly doubt they told you they could not deliver next day due to the sale and how busy they were. There are other reasons, however, that they may not have been able to deliver next day. As far as the SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, well, that is printed right on the back of your reciept that you signed agreeing to the terms and conditions. How long should the guarantee be? One year? Two years? how about three? There has to be stipulations on how long you can sleep on a mattress and expect a store to take it back. And last, The warranty information came attached to your mattress straight from the manufacturer. If you did not take the time to read it, that is your fault, not Art Van's. If a judge dismissed the case then obviously you had no case.
poor service
Myself, wife and 3 kids are from ontario canada and travelled 1.5 hours drive to this store which we researched online. Upon arrival we where met by several high presure sales people but the one stuck with us thru our trip in the store. She showed us several pieces of furniture with allot of impatience for us to make a decision on one of the sets she had...

We purchased a King size King Coil mattress from Art Van furniture in Michigan. Our salesperson told us Art Van owned the King Coil factory and if anything were to happen to the mattress it could be replaced. Soon after we started sleeping on the mattress, it started "caving" in. We called and Art Van sent out a guy with a measuring stick to assess the...
