Our AC unit in our home stopped working
Our AC unit in our home stopped working. Because I'm 8 months pregnant and have a small child, we needed someone to come out right away. We called Collier's Heating & Air Conditioning and Mary was really helpful. She answered our questions about our home warranty and how it would work with them. She was able to send someone out the same day (June 30th) for a fee of $259. We were okay with that, hoping it would be an easy fix and a same-day solution. Mary was so nice and explained things to us, so we thought this company was trustworthy.
The technician, Robert, came out and did his thing. He said we needed a new compressor, but because our unit was old, it would be more cost-effective to get a whole new unit. We were fine with that. We couldn't do anything that day because we needed to hear back from our home warranty company. So, we decided to have another person come and give a second opinion before making such a big purchase. The guy came on July 2nd at 9 am and by 9:30 am, he had fixed it and our AC was working again. He replaced a part that my husband had seen Robert replace, but Robert couldn't get it to work. Either he connected it wrong on purpose or he didn't know what he was doing.
My husband called the business and said we didn't want to be charged for the emergency visit. The girl on the phone said there was nothing they could do, but they could send someone out for free to check the other guy's work and make sure it was done right. We declined the offer because they missed it the first time and made us wait almost two whole days for it to be fixed unnecessarily.
