My wife and I both purchased new citizen watches from the Kay jewelry site both watches were advertised to have a 5 year warranty, however if you registered it online you were to get an extra 1 year warranty for a total of 6. This was advertised on the Kay website as well as the citizen website and the hang tag that came in the watch box. We both registered our watches on the citizen site as directed. Immediately after registering we received a document only showing a 5 year plan. I contacted Citizen and after a day or so their response was that the offer had expired 2 weeks ago. It was on their site as late as this morning, it is still on the Kay web page, and there is no expiration on the tag in the watch box. Even a grocery store puts an expiration date on their coupons. After an argument with citizen customer service about no visible expiration date, they very quickly removed the advertisement for the extra year from their page. My wife and I both saw it this morning then when caught, poof it disappears. There is no date on the watch tag and it still shows on the Kay sight. We have owned citizen watches for over 10 years. The customer service guy got all snotty and stated that if we had wanted the extra year we should have registered them 2 weeks ago. If there was an expiration date anywhere to be seen this would not be an issue. Being as citizen hid the fact and deceived us we think we are entitled to the extra year. Are they that afraid that we might actually have to use it after the 5th year. We have a nice window to return these watches, if citizen refuses to honor their ad, back they go. They will no longer be able to be sold as new and someone will lose money having to sell them as used or open box units
Recommendation: Don't trust citizen, they will scurry down their hole faster than you can say "what warranty"
