My husband and I both have one of their credit cards. We decided we were not going to keep paying the annual fee for a card we do not use. Therefore I called their number and of course spoke with some that I could barely understand. We were able to cancel both credit cards.
When I called, I told them we both did not want this credit card because we are not willing to pay an annual fee. We both spoke with them. On my husband's credit card they said that since he is cancelling they would make his card a "0" balance. However, now I am getting collection calls from then. With my card they said that I would only have a "0" balance if I paid the remaining balance of $41 on the annual fee. I asked why do I have to pay this on a card that I have not used in two years and you will be making my husband's card at a "0" balance. Of course I got the run around. Then the man proceeded to tell me if I pay the $41 to get it to a "0" balance that I would receive a $30 refund on my credit card. I said, "How will I get a refund on a card that I just cancelled?" He said, "You will need to call back in so they can send me a check." Called again today, because I am still getting collection calls for my husband's account.
Today they could not provide me with any answers on my card other than it shows a "0" balance. No kidding, I paid the annual fee, but nothing about the refund. On my husband's credit card, and per hippa laws, would not tell me any info on husband's card. I understand this. I was not asking for information, I was telling them that I am receiving collection calls for his card, and that it was supposed to be at a "0" balance. They said they could not discuss it with me. He gave them permission during the last call for me to discuss it and take care of. That should have been noted on the account. But apparently was not. With that being said they soaked us for approximately $300 in annual fees on cards we cancelled and was assured that we would get a refund, and that the "collection calls" would cease. While I am not happy about only receiving $30 back, out of $41, I am very dissatisfied with the customer service as it is not a service it is a major inconvenience. It took less than a minute to get the credit cards and over an hour to cancel both.
And it is still not resolved! Why do I have to call in to get a refund?!
Desired outcome: Refund and credit score to reflect that it was cancelled by us and show that it was paid on time.
