My elderly parents and I visited the Cici's Pizza on Valley Mills 2/18/25 at 11am in Waco TX. I went to get my dad tea; after waiting about 5 minutes for the tea to be ready...I filled his cup half full with what was supposed to be tea, took a drink to see how sweet it was; immediately spitting it onto the floor. went to the bathroom rinsed my mouth several times trying to get rid of the horrible taste that was ABSOLUTLY NOT TEA.. spoke with manager to let him know what just happened, he sent the employee who made the tea back over to the drink station... as i waited continuing to rinse my mouth with water and spitting in a cup he asked if it was too sweet.. I "said", no... it's not tea, he asked if it was old.. i "said", no it is NOT tea, it's not unsweet, too sweet, old tea it is NOT TEA AT ALL ( me concerned what i just put in my mouth} i went back to the manager, and told him that wasn't tea... he went back and got the tea bag the employee used and had me smell it.. I told him that is tea and it did not taste nothing like that.. I know what tea taste like, he offered a free buffet card for my trouble and apologized; after dealing with this for about 20 -30 minutes I feel I had rinsed my mouth enough and thought i would go ahead and make me a plate and eat lunch as my parents were halfway done eating at this time. Once we completed our meal around 11:55am I had taken my dad to his Dr. appointment with the neurologist.. soon after, as I was still anxious and concerned with what was in that tea container as i still had a little of the taste still in my mouth. I went back to Cici's and spoke with the manager for the 3rd time.. he "said" i found out what the employee did! he put salt in the tea instead of sugar. I told the manager that was not salt. I asked how the tea container is cleaned, he "said" it is cleaned with Dawn dish soap and another solution the night before and the employee who made the tea may have not rinsed out the tea container. I asked if I could see the chemicals used.. he went and got two containers, one of which was Dawn dish soap and the other was Clean Quick Sanitizer. I took a picture and read the danger.. the manager gave me a refund and was real apologetic. I went to my car and called poison control. I was advised to sip on water and if my throat started to swell or had complications breathing to go to the emergency room. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had while eating out. I pray this doesn't happen to anyone else and I'm so thankful that I did not serve this to my 80 yr old father, he probably would have taken a large drink. He
