Had surgery on November of 2022. Noticed a duplicate charge and a charge for a surgical procedure that I didn't have. Spent from January to August trying to get resolution. Finally contacted risk management (Collette). She researched the issue and concluded, after getting with the director of billing and auditing the charges, that I was indeed being billed for services I didn't receive. She sent me 2 certified letters. One letting me know my account was being audited, then a follow up letter of apology, letting me know that there had been a billing error and the erroneous charges would be taken off my account. She also told me, in a follow up phone call, that I owed them nothing. Now, three years later, in May of 2026. I have now been turned over to a collection agency for non payment of the charges I was told were adjusted off my account and never owed for. I will now file with every entity I can in Texas because I am tired of speaking to inept employees/supervisors that don't care to do their jobs. They never, not one time, called me back when they've promised and I've probably called at least 3 to 4 dozen times since 2023 in my attempts to resolve this matter. I moved all my healthcare and that of my entire family to another healthcare system. Even several of the physicians I saw in the past have left. I wonder why. Chi St. Luke's is the most incompetent health care system I have ever dealt with.
Recommendation: Find another institution as Chi St. Luke's incompetence in the billing area makes me question their competence in patient care.
