Capitec Bank failed me once again! what's new

Firstly, they did my stop order wrong. I went to the branch again! Then imy account was blocked, I couldn't receive transfers. Went to the branch again! Was told it's because of fica documents! Of which I submitted. I was then given a letter as proof that my account is now active again! Not with capitec! They just never get anything right the first time! It's bloody still blocked! People still can't transfer money to my account! I can't be going to your stupid bank every bloody weekend. I have things to do and a child to give my attention to! On weekends I should be home enjoying time with, y son! Instead i'm at capitec every weekend trying to rectify their mistakes! Their incompetence is costing me so much! I have to spend my petrol every damn weekend! I can't do this anymore!

Capitec Bank Poor customer service

I received an sms to fica my account and went to capitec to do so.
The lady at reception phindile lukele handing out all the call slips checked my documents and confirmed that all was in order. She asked me for my id and I told her that I did not have it but I did have a copy of my licence. She said it was fine she handed ne my call slip and I went to the waiting area had slip no 135 and had to sit in line for a while. When at last it was my turn I was told that it was my turn I was suddenly told that they could not accept my licence. I explained that phindile said it was fine they called her to explain and she told them I was lying! I was then sent away and told to return with an od or passport.

Capitec Bank money taken out of my account without my consent

As of december 2014, capitec bank took money out of my savings account claiming that I made those purchases and a multi loan, to top it all when I asked for the bank statement it didn't show anything of what they claim I owe them but in terms of them refunding me my money they declined and for a bank that I trusted I can honestly say that they cheats and liars and I want nothing to do with them.

I thought that I could trust at least this bank but like the rest of them they steal your money. As well as my colleague is in the same predicament.

Capitec Bank unauthorised withdrawal of r2000.00

My daugther discovered that r2000.00 was drew fron her savings account on the 29 december 2013 at capitec bank 's atm at marble hall, and she was having her debit card with her. She went to draw money and only to discover that the above money was missing. The local capitec bank gave a bank statement on 30 december 2013, which indicated that r2000.00 was drawn from an atm at marble hall. Then a case was open at marble hall police station with reference no. Cas 8/1/2014. The cas was sent to the local capitec bank as advised and promised to respond with 14 days, called this number to lodge a complain: [protected] and given this reference no. [protected]. When she calls capitec bank on [protected] for long waited feedback was told she is the one who drew the money, because she stays near marble hall.

Please assist her because she needs that money and was reserved for school fees foe her kids.

Hi it happened to me Sunday the 17th New Germany Durban, and I was made to feel as if it was my fault as I wasted time by phoning and not using the app on my phone, Capitec is very negligence if I didn't know better I would say they work with the criminals because their investigation no one follows up with you or pay you back your money, 5000 was withdrawn from my account,

Hi, my name is Sibongile Mbatha.my card was swallowed by an atm.after some few minutes, i received a message that the amount of R1000 was withdrawn.i fastly ran to a nearest branch in Standerton explaining the problem, they told me they will reverse the money but I have been waiting.

Hi, my name is Shane Govender. I have banked with capitec for over 5 years now. I was scammed of my debit card at an Atm and I reported this, I now get an ams saying that they tried to get hold of me but they can't, which is a lie, my phone is always with me. No one called. I want proof of that call.They say that my claim is denied. I want a full report from them, not a few lines of an sms, thats so unprofessional.This is what happened to me, I was a victim of fraud and my bank thinks I'm a liar.I was at the the FnB Atm at Rock Rock cottage, Christian De Wet at around 18.40 ON THE 29 January 2014. I was waiting for the guy at the Atm to finish. When he walked out, I walked in to use the machine. As I was about to slot my card into the machine he suddenly stepped in from my right hand side and pushed my hand and grabbed my card said "uplift your card like this cause this ATM is faulty" and he picked my card upwards while it was still by the slot, he said punch in you pin now and it should be fine, it looked as if my card went into the slot and I punched in my pin number but it was a long digit on the screen as if it was asking for a cell number, I was confused, the guy disappeared from site. I tried taking my card out by pressing cancel etc but the screen just defaulted to the fhb screen when its not activated without a card in. I then got an sms showing me that R1100 was withdrawn from my account.I called my bank and put a stop on the card immediately. I did all I could to let them know that I was scammed but now they make me look as if I am a liar and making this up. I want my money back, its all I had in that account.I just want to know what they did in this investigation. I want to know if they checked the camera footage at that atm. If they can't give me good enough reason for why I can have my money then I will have to speak to an higher authority at Capitec. We are all hard working citizens, who just make it through the months and some guy just robs you at an atm and gets away with it and we are called negligent. These guys are professional thieves, I didn't expected him to rush in from the side and steal my card. I want to know what kind of protection we have from our bank that we trust them with our money ! I have a good mind to move to another bank immediately. I know it makes no difference to you, whoever might be reading this email but I will make it well known that Capitec is not a bank that can be trusted. I work at an agency and I can easily get an advert in any newspaper around the country. I want a perfect explanation of why I can't have my money refunded and I have proof of being at that atm and that unauthorised money taken from my account. Capitec Bank no customer service

Hi there...

Disgusted to know capetic bank hires people with no customer service quality!
I have a issue to reqards to my money going off my account and and my own bank has no idea where it is.
I drew an amount of 1000 on the 0707/2013 and about 5 to 10 mins later 2000 has gone out of my account.
My immediate thought was to phone in and stop the card and do I did. Next day I visited the bank to find that there system is dowm and one call made. All that was said the they will come back to me after 14 days and a new card was made, so dissappointed angry and and not sure whats going on I left without my bank resuring me as there client everything is going to okay.
Today I receive the most disturbing call from the call center or claims dept not sure but one lady bt the name of nobelusi nyozini calls and says that she is explains that she handling the claim and need to ask a few
Questions, the rudness she has displayed in the call shows me the lack of interest in the case which is very uncommon for a bank of yours. Shocked at her behaviour and I am seriously going to take this further!
I want my money case close or eles I will take this matter futher!

Capitec Bank negligent staff - silverton

On saturday, 4th may 2013, my husband and I went to capitec silverton
To apply for a personal loan to consolidate debt and to fix a motor
Vehicle we want to sell. After waiting what felt like hours as the
Bank was busy, we finally got to see a consultant by the name of
Theodora. She said that we have to apply individually and before she
Gets me to sign the documentation, she would have to phone to confirm
My employment. I told her that she would have to phone my boss on his
Cellphone as it is saturday and he will not be in the office. She
Said that that was not capitec’s policy to phone cellphones and i
Would have to come back to the branch in the week. I explained that i
Work in midrand and that was impossible to do it in the week. I asked
To see the manager. Theodora called for him and he confirmed the
Policy but that we could in the meantime see what I qualify for and
See if its approved then all I have to do is come back on monday the
6th may to sign the documents. They will confirm my employment then.
Theodora took my personal documents (3 months bank statements, id
Copy, proof of residence, payslips and a letter confirming I am
Permanently employed as I have only been working for the current
Company for a short period). I asked what I qualified for and was
Told r 96 000.00 but could change once my particulars and expenses
Were loaded. So, I said go ahead, which she did. The loan amount
Then dropped to r 92 000.00. She said it was approved, but wanted to
Confirm everything with the manager. Bertus van wyk, the manager came
And confirmed all was correct and clearly stated that I was approved,
But cannot get any money until the confirmation of employment was
Done. He told theodora to put on the system that employment is
Confirmed, but in notes state “to confirm”. My husband and I both saw
The approval on the system. Theodora said that someone from capitec
Would phone on monday to confirm my employment and then I should just
Make sure I get to the branch by 5pm to sign the documentation. She
Also confirmed the money would then be transferred immediately into my
Bank account. I asked if there was a reference number or a printout i
Needed to bring into the branch and she said no I must just give the
Consultant I see my id as she will not be in.

So now we get to “d day” (today) and I race off from midrand to
Silverton to sign my documentation. I had to wait my turn as there
Were customers before me. Understandable. I get to the consultant
And tell her I need to sign my documents for the loan. She asked me
Why it was not done when I applied and I told her that my employment
Could not be confirmed on saturday. She went to fetch the documents
And told me I was declined. When I queried why, she said that head
Office declined it as I was not in employ in my current company for 3
Months. I explained that my loan of r 92 000.00 was approved on
Saturday and she said its impossible without confirmation. I asked to
See the manager. This time it was another gentleman, martin chida who
Came to me. Apparently he is the actual manager and bertus is the
Assistant manager. The way bertus and theodora explained, my husband
And I were under the impression that bertus was the real manager.
Anyway, martin confirmed it is declined. I asked him why we were told
My loan was approved and now they take it away after my husband and i
Used the money we had in our bank account for another important thing.
He asked me if I was sure I heard right. Wrong thing to ask me. I
Am not deaf or stupid. Once again, both my husband and I saw this
With our own eyes on the computer screen. I demanded to see bertus
And was told that both he and theodora were off. I then again i
Demanded to see bertus and told martin that he should phone bertus and
Get him to come into the branch. He said he cannot do that. I would
Have to wait until martin gets a chance tomorrow to speak to both of
Them. This is unacceptable. I was promised something and now gets
Ripped away from me. Martin said he understood my predicament a few
Times, but what does he know? He sat with a smurk on his face and i
Was the idiot. I demanded contact numbers for management and email
Addresses and also asked for a copy of the agreement on the computer.
He refused to give me the number or email addresses and told me he
Does not have my application. How is this possible? Does the capitec
System not save information or could martin be covering up for his
Staff? Now with my experience, applications are saved and a reference
Number is generated. Seems very suspicious. He gave me a brochure
And told me to phone the number on there. I did this and spoke to a
Lovely lady by the name of luwanda (ref 8068506). She said that
Complaints take 24 hours before they are attended to. Sorry, but this
Is once again an inconvenience. The joke is that theodora was aware
Of my employment situation as we still joked that my ex boss never
Used to pay me on time or used to pay bit by bit. This was clear as
Day on my bank statement. She was aware of everything. What would
Have happened if my employment was confirmed on saturday? Would i
Have received the money then phoned today and told sorry we need the
Money back? As explained to martin and luwanda, I am taking this as
Far as I can. My conversation with luwanda is recorded. I told her
That someone needs to sort this out by 10am tuesday, 7th may. She did
Tell me that due to procedures she cannot promise that. She was
Professional and did her job correctly. Capitec’s silverton branch
Should be investigated due to negligence and the staff members in
Question need to be suspended. I am not going to be made a fool of.
This complaint will be posted on hello peter tonight. I am also
Lodging a complaint with the banking ombudsman, ncr and will be
Informing all the national newspapers of my complaint if it is not
Attended to by 10am tomorrow morning. I have been humilitated as i
Had made plans with that money. I was also treated like an idiot.

I would sign a debit order so what is the problem? If I was declined
On saturday, this would be a different story. Don't make promises to
Clients and then treat them like fools. Someone needs to seriously
Open their eyes.

Capitec Bank poor service

I am extremely exasperated about the service I have been receiving from capitec bank lately. The consultants there lack a uniform work structure and it seems as though everyone makes a decision based on their own discretion which is limited to the amount o0f knowledge and experience they have without following any kind of procedure.

I have been only giving great reference to colleagues and associates about the bank and advising them to open an account but after the past few contacts with the bank even though it is rather cheap I after deep thought I would not advise anyone to bank with capitec.
Remember that at the end of the day it should boil down to quality and not quantity. I was also surprised when the consultant at the fourways mall branch nishav govind agreed with me in saying I may be experiencing problems because it is not a reputable bank and it is fairly new. Yes capitec is cheaper but have you considered the amounts of trips one needs to make to various branches because you could not be assisted at one branch? (with the petrol price hikes we are having) the amount of phone calls one needs to make being referred back and forth and not forgetting the time wasted that can never be returned?
My first incident was a couple of months back when I was at the northgate branch accompanying a friend to go open an account after I had advised them about how great capitec is. I was greeted by a man at the door who asked what we were here for; we told him it was to open an account. The man asked to check the documents which we gladly gave to him. He looked at the id and at his own discretion said that the id book is not in a good condition he should actually discard it and apply for a new one. Nothing was tempered with and everything on the id was visible. He said it would not be able to read on some “device” that the apparently use. Frustrated I thanked the gentleman and though let us try the capitec at fourways crossing so we drove all the way to fourways crossing and guess what everything there was done and there was no problem at all. This is the same id he uses hassle free at standard bank.
My second incident was on friday afternoon 02/11/12 I arrived at capitec bank at 15:40 to re activate my multiloan account as it expires after a year. I had all the necessary documents and was assisted by nishav govind together with the manager francois van wyk. I moved from my previous company to my current on which is a private company a small but reputable one and it is not listed on the internet nor is it n telkom directory as it is an international company and due to discreet yet legit and sensitive nature of work. After tedious analysing and a lengthy procedure back and forth with the manager the consultant then seemed to try and get the contact details of the company after 16:30 to confirm employment which was a little too late.in his failing to do so. He then firstly out of his own delay and failure to make efficient decisions together with the manager does not ask me to return on monday so he can confirm employment instead he informs me that the only transactions I will be able to make with the bank of my choice is to have my salary deposited in it and make withdrawal transactions and nothing else. Shocked I confirmed with the consultant that basically what you are saying is that due to this it’s basically useless for me to be with capite bank because I cannot be able to do anything long term based with them? He agreed and insisted that it would actually be a best for me to take my salary to nedbank which is my other financial provider and do all future transactions with them.
I then decided yet again on the next day to drive all the way to northgate and guess what? It was a saturday but the lady managed to assist me not fully as she could not confirm employment on saturday but offered to put it on task monday morning and call me back and guess what the same manager from fourways was working there and advised her differently to what he advised the consultant at fourways for the exact situation. I was advised to send through a confirmation letter of employment from my company hr the matter has not been resolved yet as I work shifts 6am to 6pm which is a complete inconvenience on my side as well. This time around I thought I am not going to let this one slide it has gone too far especially after I spoke about it to a couple of associates where one actually mentioned that when they visit the bank at northgate they would rather wait longer in line then be assisted by certain consultants and have actually told them so directly due to this.

Now I continue to ask are we looking for quality service or are we looking for cheap service. Remember financial service is not like at the supermarket were you can just bare it. Your bank is the next most important think after your job especially if that is where your salary goes. Now if they cannot look after you financially how will you be able to progress in life and take care of yourself or family financially?

disappointed is not the word for capitec i dont know what to say anymore am a young man trying to build a credit score cos i also wana take out contract phone sometimes a loan but capitec told me they can give a six mounths loan witch i paid of with no problem after that ma life got just a living hell cos now i cant even take out a simple contrac phone of 10rand cos of bad record capitec staf told me it was cos of ma truworths accound mail them letter from truworhs stateing am up to date then they change to they will look into ma case stil today nothing has change am glad that i learn the hard way with capitec i restart somewhere else from 1st of march 2018 somewhere else cos they made enough money now they dont care abt there cleints mxm

I am very disappointed with capitec because I transferred the money in the wrong account inside the branch and I went back to the branch after 10 minutes to report the matter until today I have not got an assistance from capitec. I feel soo discouraged and iam planning to close the account I have with capitec because they are useless.

My father is banking with Capitec and has a loan there, he fell ill in 2014 and was boarded from work I only found out now meaning this year that he should have sent documents to the insurance company for it to cover his loan because he can no longer afford to pay with the little pension he gets from work.The response from the insurance is that I should have sent the documents in 2014 and I have been walking in and out of the Bank and none of the employees advised me about the insurance application I only heard of it from people who have hade this experience.Plz assist my email is khanyiswamashicila1988@gmail.com

Absolutely WORST customer service from CAPITEC BANK

PLEASE HELP! Me and my wife did several Atm deposits on Sa****ay 4 June. The Atm took R26000 and never credited it to my account. The Assistant Branch Manager WITNESSED how the Atm "Swallowed" my money. We then spent more than an hour inside the bank logging the complaint. The Assistant branch manager then promised us that they will have it sorted the following Monday when the security company attends to the Atm as they have logged a service call with them. I phoned the BRANCH MANAGER on Tuesday and we basically told me that it is not his department and that Capitec will get back to me in 14 DAYS regarding the issue. For the entire week ABSOLUTELY NOBODY of Capitec Bank contacted us, despite promising us that it will be sorted! I then logged a complaint with their COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT, which in turn promised that they will get back to us WITHIN 3 days, which they NEVER DID! i was the 3rd person that morning that lost money at that Atm. I advised them to disable that Atm as it was faulty, but they then allowed other customers to use it which resulted in another 2 people losing money at the Atm.

I've never been so inconvenienced by this bank, my account was blocked as from friday couldn't have access to my account the whole weekend since was out of town. Today i go to the bank to give necessary documents which were needed since i'm a new residence here had to ask for a letter from my councillor and was told that i have to bring my pay slip of which i've been doing this up and down ever since i got notification from them but unfortunately everyone has got his/her story on what a person to bring, could not be assisted even today until i bring a payslip and can't draw even withdraw my money i hate the day i changed to this bank cause none of these things has ever happened with the previous bank i had maybe it's time to leave them.

I am disgusted and very disappointed with the branch in Pretoria(bosman station mall)the branch manager on the 6th of December refused to help me cause i didn't have correct paper. That was understandable .But after i told her that what extacty does she want coz i have been coming the 3 times now that branch doesn't seem to know what they doing ! she then screamed at me and told all consultant not to help me ..I am a custom liaison officer she had no right to instruct the whole branch not to help me for imposing g an honest question. I need action taken .Capitec please reply to this complaint. So i left with no help

I received in one month 5 calls from Capitec department and I made an arrangement on the first call . This is the worst service that I have seen in my life . Can you please coach your people to be more professional and to listen when the customer are making arrangements

Poor Service . I made an arrangement earlier this month of repaying my account. I received 4 calls after that asking to make arrangements . Is the staff not trained to listen or to make notes. This is unacceptable why do I have to repeat myself . Please employ staff that can do there work

Capitec Bank feedback / response

To whom it may concern

Please note money (r1200.00) was withdrawn from my capitec savings account on thursday 18.08.2011 at 23:27pm from lighthouse mall in umhlanga and I live in isipingo. I had queried the unauthorised transaction with capitec customer care who said they cannot do anything I need to go to the nearest capitec branch to lay a complaint no reference number was given and no other assitance was offered. I went to the prospecton branch on friday and explained to the bank teller money was stolen from my account and he said just join the queue to see a consultant. After 15 min finally the branch manager approached to ask if I have been assisted when I explained my problem he asked to sit some where else in the bank and after 10min I was seen to by a bank teller. She explained that the very same card I had was used for the unauthorised transaction so I said this must be card cloning as I have my bank card with me she then later said I dont have proof that I was at home at the time of the incident. Seriously! How do you tell your client that as if I would do this to myself! I was told the info will be faxed to head office and get a call on the progress. Still awaiting a call from the bank. I lodged a complaint on hello peter and capitec complaints dept responed saying they would contact me within a days time - its been 3 days so far with no contact what so ever from capitec

I received at least 15 calls per day on my switchboard from the above number.. And if I do answer then it is the recorder says "Please contact Capitec Bank on this number [protected].. This is harassing... any help here.. Please...

I made a withdrawal and this ATM took hours to complete the transaction. I even had to leave it will it was processing and I don't know whether or not my money came out. I had to rush to my branch to get my money back, but the consultant told me I should come back after 7 days! What will I eat?

After making aranchmints mony keeps being deductet from my account this is steeling and the north gate branch is usles whats the point of making aranchments if they keep deducting money and not even speekenig about te money that is being taken from transfering between accounts [protected] ...

i am very discapponted in capitec kimberley, i have to pay R55 for a new card and there was nothing wrong with my card..the branch told me the atm is not working 100%and that there is more clients that have probleme.fix the probleme or close the atm, but instead you love to make many out of it..really i want my card back or my R 55

Why can't I reverse my debits Evan those I have. Haven't been refunded. If you will allow who ever to debit Willy nilly il just switch banks.
I'm so pissed off I want my money back all 297 as I can't reverse on the app!

Unauthorised Debit orders that do not stop after cancelling it

Ave went to the branch and got the money back and after a while I saw on my cellophane another unauthorised deduction has been made .

I have a loan and credit card with Capitec, and at first they offered to give me credit facility which ended up not happening, but its showing on all credit listings.

Kindly remove and update the system as it shows that I haven't made any paymet to Capitec for a loan and credit card.

Capitec Bank account querr

Good day, my name is: ursula swartz, I went to the atm machine yesterday and tried to withdraw a certain amount of money but the machine declined my third withdrawal, stating that I had exceeded my daily withdrawal limit. This was very strange for me as I have a set limit which I arranged with capitec bank when I opened my account. I called the customer service line and spoke to one of the consultants who informed me that the bank had some sort of a technical problem and that is the reason for my limit being changed but what baffled me is when she told me that I have to now go into one of the branches and increase my limit again. Surely if the banks' technical error has been restored, all errors should be restored automatically. Now I have to fix the banks error, I am very unhappy & dissapointed about this, I have never had problems with capitec bank in the past but if this is the kind of service I can expect, then I might as well move my account to another bank!

I have been a bank client for a very long time, but I am thinking about sewing this bank for a breach of confidentiality. On two occasions money have been transferred into my account from the compensation fund. The last payment got into my account on thursday the 2 of june 2011, and a couple of days later I have to find out that my ex wife to whom I am divorced for more than 13 years already knew everything what was going on in my account, she knew where I drew money and where I have swiped my card at retailers, and she lives in bethlehem, now if a person can obtain information and, it seems like a bank statement, then my money are not safe in capitec bank. My ex wife has a contact in capitec bank in bethlehem, and I would like to know how she could gained access to my account without my
Card, it simply means to me that someone inside that bank must have swiped their card inside the bank to gain access to my account, I have never thought that the bank t5hat I am trusting my money with is so irresponsible, and thus I am, waiting for my lawyers to advice me what legal steps I can take to prevent this from happening again.

Capitec has refused to change our company's OTP from SMS to Email, they are constantly putting obstacles and violating multiple laws in their response.

We are planning to launch multiple campaigns to highlight how terrible their services and unlawful there services are too.

When I try login my banking app it keep telling me incorrect pin i feel like such a fool for sticking with capitec i should of closed my account when the last time the app was down for a few day fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me im so dun with this dam bank

I have opened an Access Facility in October 2022, I have now received an update on my credit score which show that my account is in arrears due non payment which i do not understand.

The December debit was collected on the 12 December 2022.
