I paid for a freight shipment of a 1,885lb safe from D.C. to Texas with extra fees for inside delivery and lift gate. Somewhere along the shipment, the 40x48” pallet that the freight was on was damaged. Instead of placing the freight on a new 40x48 pallet, the shipper stacked the broken pallet and the freight onto a second, larger 48x48 pallet. The shipping company then passed along the freight to a local delivery service for delivery, however upon arriving at the destination, the load would not fit through the door due to the larger added pallet (the shipment was also 6 days past the original expected delivery date at this point). The local delivery service took the freight back to their location. Upon contacting C. H. Robinson to discuss a solution to get the freight back onto a 40x48 pallet as it was originally packaged and redelivered - C. H. Robinson’s only solution that they recommended was for me the receiver (who paid extra for lift gate and inside delivery services), to rent equipment to pickup the nearly 2,000 lb safe, transport it 40 minutes to where it was supposed to be delivered, and offload it myself. Mind you, it’s still on the two pallets that make it too large to fit in the building. Thank you for nothing C. H. Robinson / Freightquote.com. You failed to deliver on your obligation and the only solution you offered was for the client to do your job for you. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
Desired outcome: Full refund of original shipping costs, plus reimbursement of costs to rent equipment to move the freight myself.
