We attended a presentation at a hotel in Santa Ana, California on October 23, 2025 & the sales person presented us with information that we were going to be a part of a travel club that had their own travel representatives & therefore we were going to save money when we booked our travel. We were told that we could book flights & hotels & would receive savings up to fifty per cent. He presented us with examples of flights and hotels to Hawaii or to Italy & he would ask how much did we think it would cost and people would shout out a number & he would state "No" & cross through the number. He would state that it would be half of that amount. We are seniors & we thought that sounded great as we were going to go to Spain in May. However, we also attempted to obtain information on Boardwalk Resort Vacations & we could not find anything that matched that description of what the sales agent touted. We paid twelve thousand dollars & placed a credit card dispute because we did not receive any information as to a telephone number or address to contact this so called membership. Needless to say, we had to pay because we were unable to cancel without an address to send our cancellation request. In addition, when I called to inquire about flights and hotel accomodations to Copenhagen and Belgium with a return to a nearby airport; I was informed that the club does not provide discounts on airlines and the hotels that they provided for me cost more than they did not Booking.com and Booking.com had cancellations for free until a certain number of days prior to arrival whereas Boardwalk Resort Vacations did not offer that. In other words, we "dumb senior citizens" were scammed for twelve thousand dollars for absolutely nothing". We could have had a very pleasant vacation for that amount of money but we have absolutely NOTHING. Stay away from this operation, don't be enticed by the "ATTEND THE SALES PRESENTATION AND RECEIVE A FREE TRAVEL GIFT" You will be sad as you watch that twelve thousand dollars flush down the toilet and you know that you should not have signed any paperwork that you could not take home with you to review.

You were not dumb. You were deceived by professionals who do this for a living. Here is the practical path forward.
First, the rescission period in California for timeshare-like contracts is 7 days, but you are well past that. However, California law still protects consumers from fraudulent misrepresentation. Document everything: the date, the hotel location, the salesperson's name if you remember it, and every promise they made about 50% savings. Write it all down while it is fresh.
Second, file a complaint with the California Attorney General's office. Call 1-800-952-5225 or file online through their website. They handle deceptive business practices and timeshare fraud. Also file with the FTC.
Third, contact the resort directly at the address from the presentation and send a certified letter demanding cancellation due to misrepresentation. Keep a copy for your records.
Fourth, look into timeshare exit companies, but be very careful, many are scams too. The nonprofit American Resort Development Association (ARDA) has resources for legitimate exit options.
You paid for a promise that was never real. That is not your fault.
