My wife is on full disability (thus Medicare), and have used the flex card $50 allowance as part of our overall budget for years. We needed a blood pressure monitor as our other one failed on 2/3/26. I went to Walmart with her flex card to purchase one, but the card was denied. Upon further investigation, I found the card is now only useful for gym memberships, vacations, shoes, and a list of discounted programs we’ll never use due to her disability. It seems on its face that only people of adequate means will be able to use these benefits. Unless I’ve missed something, this is only hurting people who need help the most. Shame!
