I’ve been a paying user of BetterMe for a while, and it used to work fine. But ever since the last update, the app has been a nightmare: I have to tap everything 2–3 times before it responds (logging a simple breakfast now takes triple the time), meal logging is slow and frustrating, and the weight check-in wheel is broken—it just fluctuates. The whole app lags constantly (and no, it’s not my Wi-Fi).
Customer service made things worse. I explained the issues clearly, only to get a suspiciously fast reply within 20 minutes asking me to upload a video as “proof.” I’m not an IT professional, I don’t have two devices to record with, and I shouldn’t have to do their job. Seriously expecting a paying customer to troubleshoot the app on their behalf in their free time is not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful. On top of that, their replies read like ChatGPT — overly generic and completely disconnected from the actual problem.
And here’s the biggest dealbreaker: you can NEVER log out of the app. If you do, even once, all your data and progress is gone — whether you’ve been using the app for a week or a year. That should never happen with a paid product.
To top it off, I noticed they have a Facebook “support” group (supposedly motivational). At first I thought it was a nice idea, but when I posted about my app issues (just to see if others had the same problems), my post was never approved. It feels like they’re hiding the negative sides of their brand instead of addressing them.
And looking at other customer reviews, I see I’m not alone — many users report being overcharged, trapped in subscriptions, ignored by support, or refused refunds.
Between the bugs, the ChatGPT-like replies, the disrespectful expectation that I troubleshoot for them, the risk of losing all progress, and the unethical practices reported by others, I cannot recommend BetterMe anymore.
Recommendation: Don't.
