Failed to deliver what they promised
We met with a Bath Fitter sales rep who guaranteed us they would complete the work of installing a shower in our upstairs bathroom in one day. After taking measurements, the sales rep left our house and said someone would be contacting us to set up a time to complete the job.
After more than three weeks, someone finally contacted us to schedule a date/time to come to our house and install the shower. On the day of the install, one man - who barely spoke English - arrived in a Bath Fitter van to install the shower. After several hours, he informed me that the door for the shower was too big and would not fit into the shower. He also informed me that the job would not be completed that day - as was promised by the sales rep who took the original measurements.
I called the company and, instead of receiving an "I'm sorry, " the company rep instead made excuses for why they would not be able to complete the job. He took no responsibility for their ineptitude and lack of ability to complete the job the same day - as PROMISED. I advised the company rep that I would need a discount on the charge they assessed us because of their inability to complete the job as promised. The company rep appeared taken aback and, after much haggling, agreed to knock a small amount off the final amount (we had already paid $1, 000).
After installing part of the shower, the Bath Fitter employee left our house. Contrary to claims that Bath Fitter employees are factory-trained, this particular employee obviously had little clue as to what he was doing as he forgot to connect the U-joint to the shower. Needless to say, the bathroom began to wreak of sewage after a couple of days. And, would you believe it was like pulling teeth to get someone from Bath Fitter to come back to our house to fix THAT problem? And, once again, there were no apologies from Bath Fitter - just excuses.
After four trips and several weeks, we were more than a bit disgusted with the lack of customer service and failure to provide services GUARANTEED to us by the sales rep at the first visit. We chose Bath Fitter because of the one-day installation promise and because of the lifetime warranty. However, after what we went through in the first few weeks of trying to get them to properly install an itty bitty shower in our bathroom, why would I ever think they would honor any warranty? They now are billing us for services they failed to complete as promised. Anyone looking at Bath Fitter as an option for installing their bath/shower, be warned!
Grim business
Bathfitters Company is doing grim business. They tried to get more money that used to pay. They call you and play with your emotions. They threaten you and persuade to pay immediately, without time to think. They can’t behave like that with honest people! It is ridiculous!

Hate them
From day one I have been lied to by the company bathfitters. I have worked for them for 3 months and get lied to at least once a week. The hours suck and my boss needs to get her head out her ***. The other employees constantly call off so am always being called in. I actually follow the rules but I am the only one. We get a fifteen minute break per 8 hours not that you work a 8 hour shift. usually just 3 hours. I take a bus and my boss knows that yet she schedules me for night shifts. She also knows I cant work saturdays and schedules me then.
Lies
2 months ago we had Bathfitters install a shower with surround wall. The salesman SWORE that nothing would stick to the walls as long as we didn't use bar soap, which we don't.
We do have well water and was concerned about the rust, he reassured us several times, that wouldn't be an issue. He has one at home, and he has well water, and to use Fantastic with bleach, which he even left a bottle for us, and now, our white shower is reddish brown... we've called them several times, and have gotten such rude customer service people. We paid $5000 for this tub, that is in our eyes ruined. I will NEVER promote their product or services.
We told them upfront what problems we have with our water, if they couldn't haved fixed the job, they shouldn't have taken the job!
I belonged to a development that were using bathfitter to do a group of bathrooms in one contract. I had lived in my home for 25 years and had no issues with mold or mildew in the bathroom or anywhere. When Bathfitter did their assessment the manager stated " I guaranttee there is mold behind your tile". I had no evidence before or after that this was true. In fact when the installer came to do the work and I asked him about possible mold behind the tile and he said "Lady there is no mold here!" and he said it emphatically. I know that the manager lied just to get the work in my home and I will never recommend the business because of the deceit. If he would lie about that how many other ways would he, could he be dishonest?

Does not stand behind their product, their installation was bad from the beginning
The walls surrounding the tub pulled away from the walls from the beginning, the service man said not to worry, we have a life time warranty, when we called a few months ago they said we need to pay 400.00 to fix their poor installation. We had a new tub & wall surround installed 7 years ago. The walls And tub pulled away right after, the service man came to repair 2 or 3 times, the walls still pulled away. We got busy & kept forgetting to call, but we though we had a life time warranty, not the case, they sent another man out to check the problem, and we were told it would cost us $400.00 to fix, we disbuted it and we haven't heard from them since. they do not stand behind their product. It would have cost us less if we had tiled the walls
Looks like they give you a run around. Another phone number.

refused to give an estimate unless spouse was home
I called Bath fitters on Monday 10/04/10 to schedule an estimate for our bathroom, I had to give the girl my address 3 times and my phone 3 times before she got it right. On 10-04-10 Bath fitters called a co worker of mine since his phone number is close to mine.
Then I called and complained and they said they would be out on 10-07-10, the sales person that Bath fitters sent out would not give me an estimate since my spouse was not home.
the woman refused to give me an estimate and wanted to set up another day that she could come out. I already lost 2 days of work for Bath fitters.
Who ever heard of such nonsense, do you need your spouse home to get an estimate for getting your water heater replaced or any other home improvements NO.
Don't do business with this company.
BATH FITTERS MUST NOT NEED BUSINESS!

Scammed single mother with handicapped child
BathFitters SUCK and they are criminal. They recently scammed my sister a young mother with a handicapped child. Told her the child was getting sick from mold and charged her an outrageous price to clean it up. When she tried to get out of contract they threaten to sue her and charge her full price without doing any of the work. Basically stealing money out of a child's livelihood. Please, please do not use them. They will say anything to get you to sign their contracts. I can't believe businesses today can get away with scamming people the way they do.
Bad treatment
As a former employee, it was the worst experience of my life. Good luck to new employees. They change every 3-12 months, whether you're good or not. The only ones who stay are the mokena bunch. This is a horrible company! The product is cheap and not installed properly most of the time. I have to be honest (not angry).
Incomplete work
24 hour service? Three weeks later and my bathroom still isn't complete. All that's left is a shower door (which they carried around for a week, found out it was broken) They were supposed to show up today. They never called. I finally called them to find out even though the new door is in, I won't get it for another week because -- get this -- all the service people have the flu. What is this -- My Counsin Vinnie? Everyone has the flu?
Would never recommend them.

Stay away
Stay away from the Pittsburgh Bathfitters, The worst in Customer Service they came out looked at the bathroom, Never gave a set price, We never picked out a date or Time, Never looked at products or colors, or styles they did however need a 1500$ deposit and mysteriously did not get back to us after repeated calls until 7 days later just enough time to cover the 3 day rescission period, 2 years No Work done, Calls Ignored, No Return of Deposit, Don't let it happen to you. What kind of company has such little integrity that they look to be paid by word games instead of the work they they are supposed to be in business to do. BEWARE.

Bad sales practice
Sometime in December I visited a Bath Fitter Mall Kiosk. I left my contact information to receive a follow-up call. An appointment was made for December 29th and a Sales person was sent to my house.
He arrived at my house about 6:45 PM on December 29th. The meeting began like many sales calls I have experienced. Very cordial and understanding that there are other options besides the company that he reps.
After he was done with his sales presentation and evaluating my bathroom. He asked if we liked the product he demonstrated. We said that we did and that price would be a determining factor. He played a DVD for us as he filled out the "contract" with the price options.
He reminded us that we would only be eligible for a 10% discount if we purchased from him today. He then showed us the price of $4, 460 and a deposit due that day for $1, 350.00. We said thank you very much we love your product, but we need some time to get our finances together to make the purchase. His mood changed instantly! He said remember I told you that your discount is only valid today. I said I understand that, but to me $400 off is not as important as making sure that I can afford the product.
I was trying to be as polite as possible, but he was not getting the message. I told him that I am expecting a bonus in February and I did not want to make any major financial decisions until I was sure that I was getting the bonus and what the exact amount the bonus would be. He said to me, that this did not make sense to him. If I was sure that I liked the product why would I not just sign the agreement today. I re-explained to him that I wanted to make sure my finances would work and I do not want to finance (make payments) on this.
He became very angry and continued to pressure my wife and I to sign the agreement. I could not believe that someone in my house was not getting the picture and it did not seem that he was going to leave until I signed the agreement.
He then began to ask me personal questions about my bonus. How much do I think that it is going to be? Would I use the whole amount to purchase his bath system? and on and on... He would not stop pressuring us and I thought that this was very strange.
I finally got the point to him that I was not going to make the decision today. I told him that I liked his product, but I need some time. He said to me; "I have never had someone like my product so much and not buy it right away." I find this very strange for a $5, 000 commitment. I told him that I will be making a decision within a month and I would like to contact him so that he would get credit. He told me don't bother, they send in re-hashers (not sure what this is) after the first visit and he would not get credit for the sale. He also told me that his girlfriend would kick his but if he passed up the opportunity to save $400 like we were doing. (not sure why he felt it necessary to say this)
I walked him to the door and thanked him for his time. He said nothing to me as I extended my hand to shake his. He then walked right past me out my front door without a word or a handshake.
This last part was the icing on the cake. I immediately called Bath Fitter to let them know what their sales person just did. I was able to speak to the lady who originally made my appointment. She took my complaint and told me that she would pass it on to his manager.
I was expecting a follow-up phone call for an explanation and did not receive one.

Close to one year ago we had a new bathreoom put in (compliments of va) well it took them several days, they asured us it was a lifetime warranted bath..this of course is a joke..the bathroom is a total mess..molding is falling off, seal around shower is turning orange, the shower leaks, they made a total mess of it..I had a contractor look at it and they said they should be ashamed, doing such shoddy work.
nothing was done right, in fact he put our hot and cold water on backwards!
My advice to you all is STAY AWAY!
oh ya.. the bathroom failed the inspection..told them..wa la! nothing was ever done...

Bad service
2 years ago Bath Fitters was hired to renovate my bathroom and they did a sorry job. A few things were corrected but the overall product is of inferior quality for the cost. The Wainscoating on the tub wall bows out because not enough adhesive was used and the wall didn't stick. The bowing causes the soap dish to tip downwards so nothing will stay on the dish, everything falls off. The tub was supposed to be anti-slip and I have slipped numerous times due to the honey-comb bottom of the tub holding water. Debris was left in the drain and I have had problems with the water draining from the tub. After 2 years, whatever was left in the drain finally collected enough hair to totally clog my pipes. I lived in this house 8 years before that tub was installed and never had a clogged bathtub drain or pipe under the house until bathfitters installed this tub. I have had to have the pipes snaked twice since the installation and hair clogging the drains and pipes have been a problem since then also which was never a problem in the 8 years before the installation. I cannot recommend this company to anyone.

Do not use them
I saw a demonstration at a boat show and thought it would be a great replacement of our old fiberglass shower. I know better now. After at least 5 men and three showers the job is still not perfect. In a three way shower one wall just will not stick. Every person that came had a different comment on what the guy before had done wrong. I am just tired of trying to get it done right. We are also having a horrible time with mildew building up in the caulk at the base of the shower. You are limited with what chemicals that you can use. We may have to remove the caulk to clean and put some back our selves. Think twice before using this product and working with this company...I question the ability of the installers. I have scratches on some of the trim pieces and I was watching the workman drop the pieces on the concrete as he sawed them into the correct sizes. Even I could have prevented that damage!

I find it somewhat disturbing how after every single complaint someone writes how customer service is very important to them and then lists a number to call. Many of the comments I've read seem to of done that already, numerous times. And nothing has been accomplishes. And second why wouldn't a "great" service company be pro active and call the customer to make sure its right. 5 times of service means something isn't right. I'm not a customer, just a bored 30 year old man surfimg the net on a saturday. And I just question how a comment to each complaint somehow makes the company due their duty? Cm on guys!

Employment
I replied to an add from CraigsList intitled "installers needed" that Bath Fitters had posted. I have 20 plus years in the installation, construction and customer service industry. The manager suggested that I should do sales for the company instead of inslallations and I agreed. They also said the paid traning would start on November 30th and they would be calling me. On Nov. 24th, I received a letter stating that the position had been filled. Oh well, their loss. At least I'm clean cut. You should have seen the "salesman" they sent me on the rid-along with. That guy had the nastiest teeth I had ever seen. Buy a tooth brush!

Dissatisfied
I was dissatisfied with the service at my local waukesha, wi branch of bathfitters. I asked to speak to mgr, situation was forwarded to the regional manager, Darren Smith, who was in the office at the time of my call. He could not help me with my issue or would not. I then asked for the corporate phone number so I could go up the chain of command. He repeatedly refused to give me the phone number and basically told me all calls would be routed directly back to him and that was that. DUH! If your title is regional manager, you obviously have a superior... I went on line, like anyone else would and got the info I needed to call the corporate office. No, my issue was not resolved, Bathfitters is extremely unhelpful once they have your money, unless you want to give them more.
But, my issue with them is they VERY poor Customer service I received. As a professional in the field I found it very disconcerting that someone would refuse a simple request for corporate information. I obviously wanted to make a complaint, for the simple fact that it makes the entire industry look bad when you run into people/outfits like this...
My advice to Home owners is to really research and get references. Ask for both satisfied and dissatisfied references and then let the evidence stand on its own. If they are truly a good company they will not have an issue.

Bf Charlotte performed work at my home then 10 days later I discovered I was missing between two and three thousand dollars cash. bath fitter employees stole the money from a closed closet opposite from where they were working. I was home the entire time but I was downstairs and they were upstairs. bath fitter employees violated my trust and the security of my home. I contacted Charlotte, Tennessee and Quebec. Only response was Charlotte manager came out to my home to inspect where the crime took place and to try to tell me that perhaps I, myself, had moved/hidden the money and forgotten where. This leads me to believe that the entire Charlotte operation are corrupt thieves. The manager did go on vacation right after my money went missing. I hope someone reading this will think twice before contracting with bath fitter. You will get your shower in one day but at what cost? Missing money, stress related health issues and who knows what else they took that I have yet to discover? DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY LIKE ME.
Bath fitters sucks. They're a bunch of crooks! They allow managers to pursue relationships w married men. They hide the affair thru emails on company time. She gives extra hours & money to the men she's screwing on the side & all while she is married. I need the info for HR to report this all. She kept on until he had to switch jobs! Then when he asked for paystubs she immediately starts w the sexual harassment again! This has to stop its NOT OK & I WILL BE EXPOSING IT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT!
I had a problem with bathfitter. Instead of it being a 1 day job. It is a 4 day job. I ordered doors and they never put in the order for my bathtub. I wasn’t told they had to order door for my shower. Then my doors finally came I. For my tub. Bit they never ordered doors for my shower. Still waiting.
I also had a bad experience with Bath fitter they say one thing get your money and then oh by the way it's somethings else! They said the work is done in one day...nope they wanna come back another when you don't have time. Poor customer service when you trying to get a straight answer not professional at all. I pray I get my deposit back. I wouldn't recommend them to any body too many excuses coming from this company!
I agree that Bath Fitters is very poor in following up on customer complaints. I have been waiting for over a week and a half for a manager to call back. It appears that once they have your money, they don't have much care about you beyond that point.
Bath Fitters is BAD NEWS! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
I signed a contract with them to have work done and gave a $200.00 deposit check to confirm the price. I changed my mind within the allotted time frame. I was told that the contract paperwork would be disposed of and that the check would be shredded.
About 2 weeks later I went to purchase something on my credit card and it declined. When I went to my bank account I found that they tried to cash the check that they allegedly destroyed. I was FURIOUS!
I spoke to a manager, Mike, who was a snit, who stated "do you want my help! Im trying to help you!' Al l I got was a pathetic apology and they also refused to give me the name of the CEO! I will never do business with them again!
Unprofessional service
This isn't the first time I've had trouble with Bath Fitters in Burlington, Vermont. The last time they incorrectly installed the drain, tried in every way to avoid redoing it, then finally agreed to pay whatever plumber I hired to do it right. They also left a piece of molding unglued. The product itself is pretty good, if over-priced.(About $3, 000 for the basic model with a corner shelf - four years ago)
This time, however, the request was really simple. I called Burlington to find out what kind of screw driver I needed to remove the clean out cap under the spigot. It was one of those that require a square-tipped screw driver which come in three sizes. At that point I didn't even know such screws existed.
Nobody answered the phone; "please leave a message and we'll call right back." That was three weeks ago. Meanwhile, I'd made the trek to Home Depot to see if anybody there would help me and ended up buying the wrong size screw bits for my drill. Another week later I get to the hardware store and buy a proper screwdriver. If it was the right size, it still stripped screw - probably because the screw was the wrong size for the opening. I really had to work at getting it out. The 2-inch brass screw(!) was toast by the time I finally got it out, using pliars. It took about 8 minutes to remove it (it was VERY tight) and meanwhile the cap got scratched. I'm pretty sure that screw was too large and not intended for that opening.
Looking at the complaints in the margin I see "Bath Fitter is unprofessional" I have to agree. Too bad. AS I say, the product is pretty good if over-priced. Bath Fitters service ***.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We have used Bath Fitter 3 times so far. We are now redoing one of the bathrooms and noticed that on one of the previous jobs, the installer decided to cut the acrylic fitting to go over the existing baseboards. What a bad job. We called Bath Fitter back. To bad they said. The installer did the best job possible they say! Looks really bad. Now we have bathtub with 2 holes at each end. Never use this company.
Hello, we're sorry to hear you've had a difficult experience. Our customer service team would like to reach out to your local office to find out more about what happened. Please reach our team at customercare@bathfitter.com and include your contact information so our team can assist you further. Thanks!
Bath Fitter is a franchise org, the HQ out of Canada does not spend enough time training dealers in many markets. Bath Fitters out PA, is a class act, they do it right and the first time. True it is not cheap, but if you have a classic cast Iron tub it is by far the best solution. I sold for Bath Fitters for three months in Cleveland, Great team and great company. Always remember you get what you pay for.
Total scam
I am a former employee. I am writing this not out of bitterness, I actually left on good terms. The hours were great and so were the benefits. I managed a branch office in the mid-west region, but was not considered to be a branch manager. I gave over a year in good faith and service to this company and have an excellent, educated and informed perspective on Bath Fitter as a company. It is surprisingly and unfortunately negative.
All employees, including installers and office staff are grossly underpaid with expectations from management to take on extreme work loads. I was the unofficial manager of the office, even recognized in those terms by the branch manager, but was not rewarded in any manner for my skills or services. (Customers would call and ask for me, "the manager" by name!). Installers are paid a measly 7.8% commission rate on installations, which usually average around $1, 000.00 but keep them working on the job until around 7-9 pm. You do the math.
It was common for the local branches to hold Help Wanted Open Houses that are advertised in the newspaper every 2-3 months, in which they hire off-the-street installers and salesmen. The reason behind hiring people with little to no experience is so that Bath Fitter can train them with Bath Fitter's guidelines... A recipe for disaster.
Not only is the turn over rate absolutely outrageous but installers are only required to complete 6-8 weeks of training - only 3-4 of which are used in a hands-on training facility! When our location was desperate for installers, our branch manager approved new hire installers to work after only completing the written course training portion of 4 weeks. Desperate times call for treading a thin legal line, apparently. When questioned by me and other staff regarding the decision to allow this the branch manager responded by saying "who's going to know besides us?"
The people who knew ended up being the angry, dissatisfied customers who's bathrooms were left in damaged, leaking, shoddy condition for WEEKS waiting for resolutions. Sometimes these were customers only bathrooms with children or grandparents residing in the home. The manager would instruct me to handle all complaint calls and "use my best judgement" to resolve them. I dealt with a laundry list of complaints on a daily basis and it only kept growing as I made my exit from this company.
Just so you have an idea, I can recall installers breaking 50 year old porcelain antique bathroom floor tiles and our company never reimbursing, replacing, or repairing them because they were "too old." (So what? Does that mean these customers are not entitled to compensation?) That complaint still had not been resolved by the time I left the company.
It's an everyday occurrence to have a liner installed crookedly. Of course it is usually the "fault of the homeowners floor tiles for not being straight." Yes, that unfortunate excuse was actually given. Never the fault of poor craftsmanship - OR Bath Fitter. This, not to mention the terrible caulking jobs with large gaps, leaking walls, liners with bubbles behind them...these bubbles must be due to the fact that the walls are not perfectly level, right? Laughable.
There was an ongoing issue with a customers home in which the plumber that BATH FITTER provides (not one the consumer chooses) actually broke a water pipe behind a wall and did not say anything and just left it that way. A few hours after the installer completed the job, the home owner's kitchen ceiling light directly below this bathroom was flooding with water and his entire kitchen ceiling needed repair. This went on for WEEKS and WEEKS with Bath Fitter trying to escape responsibility. "Oh, it's the plumber's fault, not ours..." The branch manager finally agreed to send out an installer to repair the drywall and ceiling of his kitchen - an 18 year old, fresh out of high school, green handed kid with NO experience in the realm of home repair.
Branches rarely made good on promises to compensate customers for bills they incurred from repairing damages our company made to their property - like the steam cleaning bill from blood on white carpet and not removing shoes leaving scuffed and scratched floor tile despite being "required" to lay down a drop cloth
.
Some customers file complaints with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and as soon as Bath Fitter hears of these complaints they are immediately addressed and the situations rectified. Most of the time Bath Fitter attempts to settle issues before complaints are filed, but that only strings trusting consumers along for a waiting period of up to months before the office makes good on their promises.
The salesmen, or "estimators, " are paid only an 8% commission rate on sales. The are not given an hourly rate and usually have around 6-9 calls a week. Of those calls, approximately 30% will sell. Most of the salesmen estimate on a part time basis because of this and therefore it is not their primary means of income. They are instructed by every level of management to make each sale a high pressure sale wrapped in a low pressure atmosphere. They are told to hike the price to an outrageous level and then charm the price down. For example: "Well, Mrs. Mathers, this package is normally around $7, 000 (completely made up) but if you decide to purchase your liner system from me tonight I can lower the price to about $3, 000." Most estimators that I've met could care less about Bath Fitter as a company and even less about their 8% commission rate. There are absolutely no incentives for salesmen, excuse me, "Estimators" to go out and make sales.
If you haven't picked up the trend yet, my main point is that a company's only as successful as the management and employees it hires. And from my experience Bath Fitter fails in both aspects. That's why I left. I wanted no more ties with a company of this negligence. They have unhappy employees and hidden, cowardly management. I have spoken with many Bath Fitter employees who complain of the very same things I've written here, which is so unfortunate because this company has the potential to be more lucrative and successful than it is. I'm shocked that they have been in business this long.
Of course there are those "couple thousand satisfied" customers that they keep telling me about...hmm. From my experience these customers are satisfied - only after Bath Fitter takes responsibility for their managerial and costly in-home blunders. Do you have the time, money and patience to do business with a company like this? You'd be better off doing the project yourself. Bath Fitter is a total scam.

I had James from Bath Fitter in Broward come out and do an evaluation on March 1. I gave him a $200.00 and told him I wanted to finance the rest. He said not problem they use Wells Fargo. Never heard from him again. Weeks go by, no call. (I was told it would take awhile to get the tub in). I called in April for status and they set up a time to come out and do my tub. I told them I wanted to finance and they advised someone would be in touch with me. On April 18 the guy came in and installed my tub and said "so I'm putting this on your card?" And I said no I want to finance, I had told them that. I emailed the salesman and said can we discuss the financing that night (this was my third time requesting). He didn't respond. I woke up the next morning and my bank account was negative. They charged my card anyway without giving me notice or the option to finance which I had told them I had wanted to do on numerous occasions. Thankfully I close on my home improvement loan in two days and my bank has overdraft protection but DO NOT USE THEM. They wont work with you and will charge your card without any sort of warning. Total nightmare! Oh and they wont call you back to discuss it either. Never again.
Very disappointed in bathfitters. I had two bathrooms done, one a shower stall and one a bathtub. The shower stall now has three cracks in the base and the bathtub wall is coming loose. I was going to have my tenant's apartment bathroom done with bathfitters and called someone out. We showed him the shower stall and he took pictures to bring to his office. He told us someone would call and take care of these cracks. So far, it is a year later and no once called. It is getting worse. They are waiting for more business, but will call a plumbing contractor to do the tenant's bathroom. Bathrfitters wanted over $8, 000 - I could get this done with tile for less than $5, 000. They are very expensive and don't honor their warranty. Now I have a shower stall to repair and still waiting to hear from someone.
Same here, within one month my side hand held shower started leaking around the shower wall. After several weeks, the installer came out and took the hand held shower off the shower wall and laid it in the floor. Said he had to order a part. Now a month later, I again contact the person that sold it to me and the install person and ask about a schedule to come fix it. My installer was always working in some other part of the state and could not get here. After 13 days I again today called both of them and said that the delay had been long enough and I wanted my shower fixed. Finally got a text back saying coming tomorrow, we will see.
We contacted Bath Fitters at the California State Fair. The rep came to our home and told us we would have to hire a separate company/individual to remove our existing tub and walls before they could install the tub and fixtures. We went through Home Advisors and got one name of a contractor and he didn't show for his appointment. By then our 3 day cooling off period for the contract had passed; we had paid Bath Fitters a $900 deposit. Weeks went by with no contact or returned calls. We called another company who started work right away, finished with a great result. Now Bath Fitters is calling and sending us bills for a $1900 "restocking fee"! and are threatening to put a lien on our home. We are leaving the country in January for 4 months and can't be here to defend ourselves or counter sue them. WE LOST $900 FOR NOTHING!
I had a tub to shower conversion about 2 weeks ago. First item was the doors were set up so one had to get out of the shower at the water end which was not possible as the toilet is about 10 inches from the shower. This is a small bathroom and our only. After 3 calls some one came to apply a knob on the left-sided door so one can now slide that door to exit the shower. Prior to this we had to leave the door partially ajar. The installer damaged a porcelain tile and I showed it to the guy who added the knob. He had no interest. We do have extra tile. Also the left door is very hard to slide. I will make another service call to see how far I get and how many calls I have to place to get service. It took the installer more than 10 hours to do the install. He did not take a lunch break. Also during the time he was here, 9:30 a.m. until about 7:30 p.m. I had no access to the bathroom and finally drove to the grocery store and used theirs. I was surprised to see the completed project and the very thin plastic shower walls.
Hi, we can appreciate your frustration and rest assured Bath Fitter is dedicated to completing everything to your satisfaction. Please do feel free to reach out to your local branch for service and if there is anything more we can do to assist, please feel free to contact us through our website https://www.bathfitter.com/contact . Thank you.
Disappointed! I've had my Bath Fitter tub for about 12 - 14 years and (even though a very basic model) I was very pleased with it. I did notice a few stress cracks directly on the bottom of the tub the other day and reached out to Bath Fitters to see about the 'lifetime' warranty on their products. What I found was a bit disturbing. Even though the representative that I got on the phone was very nice and professional, the situation of 'verifying' that I had an 'authentic' Bath Fitter tub was in question. Apparently, the Bath Fitter location that originally installed my tub, enclosure, hand rails, corner storage and soup dish went out of business. When the representative contacted their headquarters, they found my account (even knew that there had been a service call - which was just re-calking of the tub), but what they couldn't find was the model of the actual tub installed. I sent pictures to them, but they couldn't verify that the tub was Bath Fitters (even though they did not question the enclosure, grab rails, corner storage or soap dish. The representative said that all they could do was to send out a field rep to my house to look at the tub to determine if it was truly Bath Fitters - at the tune of $182. I told her that was unacceptable. She told me to read my contract because they can charge for this type of thing. They seem to be very concerned that I'm calling about a bathtub that I must have put in (even though Bath Fitters admits that everything else is their product) OR that the Bath Fitters I was working with at the time put in a tub that WAS NOT A BATH FITTERS PRODUCT. I don't know how many times in the conversation that I had with the very nice representative that she said 'If it is a Bath Fitters bathtub'. Made me feel like Bath Fitters thought I was trying to get away with fraud. As far as the $182 dollar charge to have someone come out to verify the 'authenticity' of the tub, I'm going to scour my home this weekend to look for the original contract and pray that the tub model number is there. Not sure I would recommend Bath Fitters to anyone after this point. I was a fan, but this type of service is what I try to avoid.
After reading these reviews, I've decided Bath Fitters did me a favor when their estimator did not show up for the initial appointment: no call, no re-scheduling, NADA. My callS (that day and the next) to the local (Arden NC franchise) was rewarded with only a answering machine message promising to return my callS.
I'm a professional and do not tolerate such unprofessional conduct; I will NOT do business with such a NON-business/professional-like company. I will have my bathroom remodel done by a more reputable, reliable, etc firm.
AND BATH FITTER SUPPORT: do not bother asking for my name, etc. Investigate yourself silly. Not MY problem!
1. They "had" to reschedule because installer was sick which I understand does happen. 2. I received a call that the wrong tub was sent and they would "not charge me" for better tub that was supposedly sent. That the cost for the upgrade to the Quartz front tub would be "absorbed" by Bath Fitters. 3. The installers came - worked and left for lunch. After 2 hours or longer, I received another call saying there was a problem with plumbing and installer could not fit under the floor to fix the problem. A plumber had to be called and could not fix the problem until the next day. Again, I understand things happen and understand waiting till the next day. However, the installers only indicated to me they were leaving for lunch, never indicated a problem with installing. 4. I went in to look at the tub and it was plain, flat front tub and no arm rest. Nothing like I had ordered. I sent text to person who came out & did contract with me. She said installer should have explained to me that the Quartz front tub that I was getting for "no additional cost" was "mis-cut" and they could not install it in my house so they installed "plain" tub so I would have one to use until they could RE-ORDER and install the one I originally ordered! This was on a Friday and that the original tub I wanted would not be ordered until the next Tues. and would take a week to get here. 5. On Tues, 10/30/18, I sent pictures to the original seller and asked her if could receive discount if we kept the tub they had put in even though it was put in without asking me and WAS NOT what I had ordered. After deliberation, an amount on a discount was agreed. 6. On that same Tues. I also sent pictures asking if the installers could come back and recaulk the tub as it had 2 places that had not sealed properly. And yes, we waited longer than the required 24 hours before using the tub. The seller said she would send to office for a service call. Today, is Monday Nov. 5th and I just sent another text to seller asking when I would receive call setting up appt. for recaulking. Also, asked about new contract to show discount and was told manager has to do that. 7. Our bathroom had a type of hardwood flooring and caulking got down in the cracks. I was advised I would need to cover toothbrushes etc. because of dust but nothing said about my floors. They did sweep but a broom hasn't got this out. I have been GREATLY disappointed with BATHFITTERS. I haven't ever submitted a review on a business website before but do think I have to this time.
Hi Jones/Shelton, this is not the type of experience we strive to provide, and we would like to investigate this matter further. Could you please provide us with your name and zip code? Thank you!
called me twice to set up a time to come in to get estimate on tub liner only. Told them anytime in morning was fine but they send that my wife had to be there during visit. I told them that I had 4 year old and that it would be impossible for him to leave us alone to hear what rep was saying besides all we wanted was a white liner since both tub and toilet were peach and wanted to switch toilet to a white one and wanted tub to match. They said for just me to be there it would take over a month for someone to come out but they could come in 2 days for a evening appointment. I told then don't bother then to which they try to tell me it was for legal reason she needed to be there...What a crock of BS i told them. Had plenty of work done on house without wife being home for estimates. As long as she signs contract that's all that's needed for legal purposes..They just want her here to try to up sell us on stuff thinking she'd be more willing to do more than what we need. Told them to take my number off their list I'll find someone or something else to get tub done. In case you think I'm lying they didn't it to neighbor down the street...they just wanted a liner then rep started calling wife to convince her to get new faucets or wall liners and every other thing to jack up bill and get better commission...
Hi, this does not sound like the experience we strive for and we'd like to look into this matter further. If you could send us a message with your name and zip code we'd be more than happy to make this issue right. Thank you
my name is dennis and zip is 07882 but like I said in post don't bother I will find alternative to get the tub white
We apologize for your negative experience Dennis and we appreciate your feedback as it will help us improve in the future. Nonetheless, please don't hesitate to contact us in the future if you ever should require our services. Thank you and have a great day!
Thank God I found this reviews. I was thinking of getting Bath Fitters redo my bathroom. NOT! Thank you all for helping in deterring me from making a bad choice.
Me too! Thanks to all the people that reviewed this terrible company and exposed their faults. Someone in my townhome community just used them for services or I would not be looking for an online review forum. I wonder how long before they post a nasty remark about how dissatisfied they are? Wow, just wow!
I used bath fitters 10 years ago to replace my shower and tub-it now has cracks and is leaking into the basement Bath Fitters came out to se what the problem was and they told me it would be 975.00 to replace REALLY ? They said the damage was from some kind of chemical that was used. PROVE IT ! The caulk had come away from the walls as well. LIFETIME WARRANTY ? REALLY ? I'm sure as I read this site's comments that this has happened to MANY PEOPLE. DON'T USE BATH FITTERS ! It's a SCAM! Now I have to pay thousands more to get a REAL bath. This is unacceptable! Time for a class action LAWSUIT!
Something to consider BEFORE calling Bath Fitter
The people who knew ended up being the angry, disatisfied customers who's bathrooms were left in damaged, leaking, shoddy condition for WEEKS waiting for resolutions.
It's an everyday occurence to have a liner installed crookedly. Laughable.
There was an ongoing issue with a customers home in which the plumber that BATH FITTER provides (not one the consumer choses) actually broke a water pipe behind a wall and did not say anything and just left it that way. A few hours after the installer completed the job, the homeowner's kitchen ceiling light directly below this bathroom was flooding with water and his entire kitchen ceiling needed repair.

Thanks for the tip about the Better Business Bureau--we will definitely contact them if we are unable to get a reasonable answer from the store tomorrow!
Rip off
Bathfitter is a total rip off. The cronies running the place are using the U.S. consumers as their target for selling cheap product. In addition, I understand they are racist and treat ALL their employees like crap. Any citizen of this country who would spend money on a company like this should be considered a traitor. This company out of Canada, is bad for U.S. business. If you look at the number of complaints, you will see overall the number of dissatisfied customers out weight satisfied customers by a margin of 2 to 1. I also heard they target the elderly.

Bathroom renovation
This is a company who installs walls of acrylic over old bathroom tiles. Their brochure states that they jut need one day. On May 14th they installed the walls in my apartment. Within two weeks one wall bowed into the room. I was told that the man did not allow for expansion due to the heat. This was on May 30th. I was told that they could not return till July 3rd. Over a month away. I felt like I was doing business with organized crime and I had to accept the date I was given, notwithstanding the fact that the brochure stated all they needed was one day. I waited patiently when July 3rd came and the man did not. I received a call stating that he was not given the acrylic wall to complete a proper installation. The matter has since been resolved . It was obvious that their men are not well trained and their brochure statement was false advertising.
You are a victim and it goes on and on 33 days for us! Sorry to all the people they have made victims, they are just a scam!
