I recently had a very bad experience with the care at Baptist Hospital in Miami. The doctors—from the hospitalist to the specialists—were almost never seen. Instead, they kept sending physician assistants and nurse practitioners for quick visits.
The care felt very poor and rushed. They seemed more focused on numbers on the monitors than on how the patient was actually feeling or what symptoms were there. Basic assessments were missing, and it didn’t feel like anyone was really looking after the patient’s needs.
I was so disappointed that I even complained to the patient resources/liaison office. Unfortunately, things only seemed to get worse after that.
I would not recommend this hospital based on the care we received. It was a frustrating and worrying experience.
Recommendation: Avoid this hospital on an inpatient basis unless your doctor will be the one take care of you. The hospitalist will send their underlings to lecture you and sometimes not see you at all until you call or complain. A complete dissapointment.
