American Airlines review: Stolen watch and shaver, no investigation

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, I flew American Airlines from St. Louis (STL) to Tampa (TPA) with a layover in Charlotte. Flight 2497 left STL at 10:21 am and arrived CLT at 1:15 pm. After a 40-minute layover, flight 1982 left CLT at 1:55 pm and landed in Tampa at 3:36 pm.

Once I boarded the Charlotte to Tampa flight, my checked luggage was missing. It was found with my AirTag and delivered that night after I got home. An employee had gone into the bag and stole my Omega watch and my Braun foil shaver.

I reported it. American Airlines replied that contents were missing from my delayed luggage on the Charlotte to Tampa leg. They said the Omega watch is not covered under their Conditions of Carriage, and that without receipts they cannot reimburse the Braun shaver. Case AA-26JOHNSON-K68O04. No investigation. If you value anything in your luggage, treat it as fair game.
