Complaint against Activision for regional discrimination in account verification
I am a legitimate, long-term Call of Duty player living in Algeria. For weeks, I have been trying to verify my Activision account, but their SMS verification system does NOT support Algerian phone numbers (+213). I have tried multiple numbers from Algeria, and all fail.
I contacted Activision Support (Case #[protected]). Their response was: "use a different valid mobile phone number from a supported country." I live in Algeria. I do not have access to a foreign phone number. When I explained this, they closed my case as "resolved" without any solution. I asked for manual verification or an alternative method (authenticator app, email verification). They refused.
This is not a technical issue on my end. This is a deliberate regional restriction in Activision's system that blocks Algerian players from verifying their accounts. This prevents me from accessing a game I have paid for and played for years.
I have spent weeks going in circles with their support. They refuse to help. This is unacceptable for a global company like Activision.
I am asking ComplaintsBoard to help pressure Activision to either:
1. Manually verify my account, or
2. Provide an alternative verification method (authenticator app or email), or
3. Remove the phone verification requirement for Algerian users.
Desired outcome: I want Activision to manually verify my account, or provide an alternative verification method (authenticator app or email), or remove the phone verification requirement for Algerian numbers.
