Vivint review: Phone "technician" and "support" scams into new equipment
I have six Gen1 Cameras and an original Space Monkey Drive which were being flaky. I called the 855 number to have a technician diagnose the issues. The representative first pitched me an an entire new systems with a new panel and new cameras in the range of $4000, "... but your monthly payment will be low". After rejecting that several times, she said I should upgrade to the cloud-based DVR system for a one-time $399 fee, which requires a technician to deprecate the Space Monkey Drive. Okay. The technician shows up with one new Gen2 Camera, which happened to cost $399. And told me upon the install it would be connected to the cloud service. BUT none of the other cameras would because THEY AREN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THE CLOUD DVR SERVICE. So basically she slammed me into a single new camera without telling me, got the commission from that, then left the problems for the technician to address once he was onsite. Calling their billing department to unwind all of the was a NIGHTMARE. I now have charges on my account that they have to reverse, which they seem unable to do, and credits that don't match to the original charges she applied. THIS IS NUTS. What a total sham company. I've been a Vivint customer for more than 5 years with limited issues but I will NEVER EVER do business with them again.
Recommendation: AVOID VIVINT LIKE THE PLAGUE
