I am the owner of a 2016 Vauxhall Mokka and have been having issues with my car going into limp mode when driving. I took my car to my local Vauxhall garage which is Perry's in Sittingbourne, who told me that they were not able to help me and that I had to take the car to a gearbox specialist. This is the first point of my complaint, I was charged £110 for this. The specialist I took my car to waived the diagnostic fee as they were unable to help me with the issue. Surely Vauxhall should do the same taking into consideration the further costs I would have incurred taking the car to a specialist. With the amount of automatics available now how are your garages not equipped to diagnose correctly?
The gearbox specialist in Faversham told me that the issue is with the TCM unit on the gearbox and this is not something they can help me with as this part needs to come directly from Vauxhall and fitted by Vauxhall as special codes are needed that they will not have.
I have spoken to two local Vauxhall garages now and shared this information - Sittingbourne and Ashford, and both have told me that the part I need is no longer made and I have been referred to yet another gear box specialist!
I have spoken to them and they have said the same, the coding of these units prevents them from working on them. They have said they may be able to source a second hand unit but are not confident at all they will be able to fit this due to the code that are required.
My car is 10 years old and has done just over 60,000 miles. Surely I should not be having these issues in the first place let alone being told that this is looking as though this is something that cannot be fixed at all due to the discontinuation of the part.
This is affecting my ability to be able to travel for work and the stress of me worrying about losing my job as well as calling around trying to get an answer is overwhelming at the moment. Not to mention the money being spent to get even an idea of what the problem is.
When buying my car it never crossed my mind that at 10 years old it would be obsolete which where it looks like this may be heading. I bought my car thinking it would last. I had been quoted £2,450 for the repair (which is extortionate) and was going to have to pay this to get the car back on the road. Now with the part discontinued this is not possible.
It is becoming clear that the codes you have built into these units are preventing what could be a simple repair.
I am asking you to please investigate and let me know if there is any way this can be resolved without it costing more than my car is worth.
Desired outcome: I would like my car to be fixed and drivable.
