After a bad experience with Valley Girl, Belconnen I decided to email Valley Girl's Head Office seeking support. Below is my email to them and underneath is their reply. Needless to say, they did nothing.

I would like to express my conerns about your staff at the Belconnen store and their return policy. I am some what critical as I write this email that anything will come out of this, as I have already experienced a somewhat carefree attitude with the staff. On Sunday the 13th June I tried on 2 skirts in your Belconnen store. These skirts were 'identical' but with the sizes being different (12 & 14). I took both the skirts to the counter with me and told the sales assistant that i only wanted to purchase one, being the size 12. I took the skirt home and put it in my closet and threw the bag and receipt out knowing that I loved the skirt. Today I went to wear the skirt Iand realised I had been sold the size 14. I went back to the Belconnen store and the same girl (short dark hair, overweight) who sold me the skirt last week served me again. I told her what happened and she said "without a receipt I can't exchange it's just my policy" - I would like to clarify, is that just her policy as she claims or is it the store policy? I went on to explain that there were heaps of sizes last week and I was sure there was probably another size 12 that I could just swap it with. She was extremly unproffesional and hostile in her aproach with me and the other girls who work there were all standing around and just watching. I was pretty annoyed and embarrassed so I decided to leave the store and the skirt I purchased for $25 with her. As I purcheased the skirt with cash, I do not have a receipt. I shop in this store regularly and have probably spent hundreds of dollars in there. I would like an appology for the way I was treated today and a credit of $25 - Since I dont even have the skirt anymore!

We tried few clothes and selected few to purchase the staff in the dressing room asked my 10 year old daughter to hang the clothes back before she could leave. When I asked that this is part of her job. She said no customer should do this part. I said ok then we should not come here to buy then. She said you know just leave it.

I would like to put a formal complaint towards a sales respresentstive by the name (Maria) at valley girl merrylands stocklands nsw!
My daughter who is 15 years old went in Saturday 21 November 2015 at about 3.00 pm and purchased a top size small with a make up stain on it and a skirt size 12! These are usually her sizes! So she did not try them on! After she went home and tried them on they did not fit! We took them straight back in order to exchange for bigger sizes! They were none! Maria expressed that valley girl do not exchange or refund! But the receipt clearly states they do not refund for a change of mind! That is not the case here! We did not change our mind the clothes don't fit and there was no size 14 in the entire store! I expressed how upset I was and the store will hear further from me! Maria replied by saying( I don't think so) she was very rude, unreasonable and had very poor customer service skills! I left the store very disappointed and if I don't hear back from valley girl I will be in contact with the ombudsman regarding this! It is not acceptable that we should be treated the way we were!
I will definitely take this further! I expect an apology from the sales person involved and a full refund of the purchased items!

My daughter purchased two items from Valleygirl store in Hobart. When she purchased the items it was a busy day and all the change rooms were full and we were in a hurry. She is very self conscious about trying clothes on at home and purchased the items. When she got home she tried the items on and found they did not fit her. She went back to the shop and explained that she wanted to get different sizes. She looked around the shop and there was very limited stock in the store. The items she wanted were not in her size and there was nothing else she like that she could exchange the items for. I explained the situation to the sales assistant and was told that she could only exchange items and no refund could be given. I contacted head office and was told this was the case. This seems highly unfair. Is it our fault that the store only carries a limited range?

Queensland morayfield valley girl and male employess. To me this just doesn't sit well as the other day i saw a dress i really liked and wanted to try it on to make sure it fitted correctly though having my two kids felt very awkward to do so, if i needed a different size etc having a male in an all only female clothing store to assist thus having me leave the store disappointed that there were no female staff on to assist

I would like to report a formal complaint against one of your stores which is located at Bankstown central. On the 20/9/14 at around 4:30, i attended as usual to do shopping from the store, but apparently the way we have been met by the staff (two ladies) was very rude. Firstly, my son who is 2 years old was walking towards me and accidentally dropped a few clothes from the rack and my daughter who is 8 years old went to put the garments back onto the rack and was approached by one of the two ladies who was very rude and giving very unpleasant looks and telling her to her face " Are you serious?!" I went up to the lady and spoke to her in an orderly fashion and told her " You don't have to talk to my daughter that way." Then one of the other ladies approached me and my daughters and son and said " What if your son got injured?, are you going to come and ask us to pay you for the injury?" I told her " why do i have to do that?" We stopped talking but whilst my daughter was trying on some outfits, she came to me again and told me " look, we've got two minutes to close the shop, so hurry up." I called my daughter and i told her, its okay, we will come tommorow and as we were about to exit the shop, she called us f*cking animals. So i told her who are the animals, you're the animals if you call us that. Then she said " Look at yourself, wearing a piece of cloth on your head, bloody terrorism, go back to your country and leave the shop now otherwise, you know what's going to happen to you." This was a threat which is illegal in this country. I left quickly and went straight to the information desk and they called one of the security and i told them a short preview of what had happened in writing. She told me that she will pass it to the management of Bankstown Central and she told me to lodge a complaint to their head office as it is not the first incident that has occurred at Valley Girl. Also, if this is not handled fairly or if something is not done as i am an Australian citizen and know my rights because threatening and discrimination is illegal in Australia, i will follow this up with the fair trading and possibly the media as these are big issues!

I was sold a top that didn't have any tags. When I got it home, I noticed it had a make up stain on the back. I tried to return it four days later and the same girl who had served me originally said I couldn't return it without the tags, even though she knew very well it had no tags when she had sold it to me. She was completely rude and obviously trying to cover her own tracks for wrongly selling me an item without telling me it was non-refundable and not bothering to note down the loss of tags on the receipt. When I emailed customer service, they told me it was my fault for not checking the top for stains before I bought it and that if it had a stain, the sales team would have removed it from the floor. She also implied I had removed the tags myself when she stated that all employees note on the receipt when the item has no tags. (As if this person knows what any of these sales girls actually do!) So disappointed and never want to step foot inside that store again!

I brought a size 14 skirt thinking I would wear it on my holiday. We were in a hurry and the store was about to close, so I picked the skirt and the size I am usually. It cost $30 but decided to get it thinking I would be that size. I left for my holiday but never wore it. I came back and decided to wear it one day. It was too big and didn't look right on me. I grabbed the receipt and read it. I saw that it is a 10 day refund. I was so disappointed when I saw it but I really wanted to take it back. I need help because I want my $30 but I understand that I should have tried it on but the staff where hurting me out of the shop. HELP PLEASE!

Bought a shirt from Valley Girl in South Australia in a size L. Knowing I had bought two dresses a week ago since, also in a L I assumed this shirt would fit, so I didn't try it on before purchasing it. However I got home & tried it on & what do you know it does not fit. So I tried to return it at a store I had the receipt & tags attached still & I was shocked to see that they have a no refund policy! I don't see why I can't have my $25 back. She told me to look in store to swap it so I had a quick look. I hate Valley girl for the fact else where I am a size 14-16 aus, but (i am not a big girl it is also for my length as i am quite tall).. Valley girls L's only just fit! This is appalling I often feel as though they make there clothing far too small. In the end I chose the 3 month voucher to spend as they wouldn't give me cash back. But I doubt I will ever spend it in their store. I hardly ever find clothing in there store that will fit me & just thought it was rude that you can have a policy not to refund a resellable product which has tags & reciepts ( i also tried returning it only 4 days after purchasing it)

Hi...I have also shopped at Valley Girl in WA and have found the treatment of returns n exchange items appalling. I was also spoken to so rudely and the mob mentality if the staff made me feel embarrassed and ambushed. I ended up with no exchange and items I cannot wear. A waste of my hard earned money. Yet I had all the tags and returned withina few days of the purchase. It's robbery!
