I recently shopped at your store and had a very bad experience. The signs were deliberately misleading to get you to buy something at a higher price. We found a sign that advertised $169.99 for slacks and a jacket. After trying on several items from that rack, we found some that fit and proceeded to the checkout counter. The price was over $300. There was a long line after us, so I felt very uncomfortable, but I told the employee what the sign said and even went to get the sign on the rack. The fine print showed the regular price of our clothes $10 more than the on-sale items. We were so disappointed and the employee was kind and apologized, stating that this happens all the time. We didn't get the suit, but purchased one pair of slacks. On our way out, I went back to the rack where the sign had been. There were NO items on the entire rack that would have applied to that sale and the sign that was on the rack. We'd have to go to an entirely different section to find any that would have been on sale, but the style was very strange and wouldn't work for us. We wasted so much time trying the clothing on and thinking we'd get a good price. It's clear that JC Penney just wanted to pressure us to buy something at a much higher price. It's hard to feel like you're being a "problem" in line and making other people wait on you. We have been loyal JC Penney customers for over 30 years and have purchased countless items for our family. I found this experience despicable and unprofessional. The employee was so nice and felt so bad - she was also in a terrible situation of knowing she couldn't do anything about her employer acting in a dishonest way and that this was a frequent occurrence. We won't be back.
Desired outcome: We'd like an apology and to be able to buy the suit for the advertised price.
