medical misdiagnose
My name is William “Bill” Ashcroft. Account # 412736; Encounter Number [protected] on or about 11/08/14 I started not to hear out of my right ear. When I drank water or any type liquid I would hear a clicking sound in that ear. By the 10th. I could not hear even the snapping of my fingers next to my ear. I was alarmed and did not want further damage to occur if any, so I went down the street to the quick care facility. There I described to the nurse that took my vitals and then to Dr. Rodrigues the events leading me to come to the clinic. He checked my ears with a scope of some kind and said there is nothing wrong that is visible to him and that is was or is an anomaly, a possible flap of skin etc. My blood pressure was a little high at the time mainly because I have what they consider or label as the white coat syndrome. So he wrote me a prescription for blood pressure pills. He then told me to go see an ear, nose, and throat Doctor. I did go and get my blood pressure medication filled and told the pharmacist what had happened. He said try using Allegra or Clarion because it sounds like sinus or allergies or the combination there of. I did and three days later I was totally and completely cleared, and have been since. It is now 12/18/14.
The Doctor misdiagnosed the problem and charges me or my insurance $251.61 for less than five minutes in the exam room; my insurance paid $146.61 plus $80.00 contract HMO/PPO which left my Balance $25.00 for something that was not wrong in the first place. I feel this is wrong and should not pay the $25.00. What my insurance does is entirely up to them. I have not and will not contact them depending on the outcome of my dispute. I am sure this can be resolve in a diplomatic matter to satisfy all concern.

rude pharmacy staff
Dr. Rodriguez at one of the UMC urgent care had written an allergy medication for me. I stressed the fact that the Claritin D 24 hour are not over the counter and Dr. Rodriguez knows that. So, when I got to the UMC hospital to drop of my prescription Valerie at the drop of counter was reading the prescription and she kept on and on that the Claritin D was an over the counter meds that I can get at any drug store. I stressed the fact that the one that Dr. Rodriguez had written was not. Valerie kept repeating herself that the medication is over the counter as if I did not comprehend what she was telling me. I was annoyed and losing my patience with her because she keeps insisting that its over the counter. I told her that it was not. Anyway I felt that she was just rude and did not even apologize. She went on and on that its over the counter like a broken record.

wrong information
I was diagnosed and Hospitalized on February 21, 2012 with an inoperable 9mm Cavernoma located in my left frontoparietal junction of my brain. Since then I have moved back home to Colorado to be near my family and for insurance purposes. Since February I was in and out of the hospital alot because of my symptoms kept changing and I suffer from Petit Mal Seizures. As I was going through my medical files I am pissed. They are saying I suffer from a history of depression and I have never in my entire life, easing bruising. I am a very happy and successful Geology major. I am 32 year old female who is now just adjusting to life on Dilantin. I cannot believe they lied in my file put things in I did not say. UMC needs to be held accoutable for the things they have done and keep doing.

UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER GETS AWAY WITH KILLING PEOPLE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE AFFIDAVIT FROM DOCTOR.UMC FAILED TO TREAT THE GANGRENE AND SEPSIS ON MY DAUGHTER IN A TIMELY Manner she passed away I have pictures showing where nurses left trash under her bed, dirty glove, dirty cotton ball left on her, her stay was all bad.
unhelpful / unfriendly staff
I am writing to inform you that my mother was admitted on 10-13-12 to the stoke intensive care unit / floor. She can not talk and her whole right side of her body does not function. She had stayed there from 10/13 until today 10/15 on that floor the Doctors and RN's were very courteous, informative, helpful, attentive and caring. When my mother was told she would be moving, we were very pleased because she was told she would be in a quiet room so she could get better rest. I was very dissapointed to see how the staff acted the minute we arrived to room 317 @ 6:00pm 10-15-12. It started with I asked someone one helping hook-up equiptment to please empty a trash can that had no lid next to the door as you walk in, if they could empty it and put in a new bag.. the room smelled very bad, I was told that I can use the trash can with a lid on it and they ignored my request to simply empty a trash can. Then the woman next to my mother has her remote/nurse controller on high volume listening to the football game yelling and clapping her hands (having no respect and creating disturbances the second we get my mom settled into the room. Also This same woman was crunching on ice with her mouth very loudly, even loud enough to hear it over the volume on her control?. This is just a few things I noticed in the first 15 minutes of entering the new room. We had also asked for an extra pillow because we were told that her arm that is not responding and is unable to move needs to stay elevated, Someone handed us 2 very thin pillows and pillow cases and we had to put the pillows together in the pillow cases and elevate her arm something that the nurses should know about and be doing for my mother. I had seen about 7 people working all of them being very unfriendly and unhelpful and 3-4 of them were at the counter being of no help and no assistance. I went to the counter where there were 3 nurses and I let them know the situation and I got a bunch of bad body language and was told all the rooms are full and they would switch her when something comes available. I am hoping something can be done about this and this is not overlooked. This is very rude and disrespectful. I understand everyone is of equal importance, All I am doing is letting you know that all the staff at this time of day on this date were very DISAPPOINTING and had no common courtesy what so ever. I wish my mom never had to leave the room and the staff she had before especially when she is trying to recover and learn how to move and speak again. Please contact me if you want any further info I will not be disclosing my mothers first or last name at this time due to I do not want her to get treated or overlooked any worse then she already has. I am sure you can look it up in your system and make it right. Thank you

After recently being a patient at UMC after suffering a small stroke I can attest to the rude treatment I received there. But...I also found the staff overworked, stretched thin, everyone one of my nurses and doctors had foreign accents, some hard to understand, and the nursing assistants the true caretakers while I was in the hospital. They are truly overworked and underpaid. These are some of the most inept RN's I have ever encountered..so bad that I checked out to continue care at another hospital. Watch your step if you are admitted there and be prepared to see people abused verbally and physically in their ER!

I can not get the FMLA paperwork I need completely filled out by the doctor. The first time I went in, the office staff went out of their way to help me. But, the form was not filled out properly. So I went back, and this time I was told I had to make an appointment. My mother, who is the patient, had to see the doctor so she made an appointment and took the paperwork. The nurse would not let my mother see the doctor at that time, but the paperwork was done. Again, it was not completed to my employeers satisfaction. This time I faxed the forms and a request to fill out the unanswered questions. I supplied my employer's phone and fax numbers along with my contact information. There was no response. I then sent the forms and request by next dayFedEx. The signature confirmation ensured it was received before the doctor's 3hrs/wk that the doctor was available. Again, there was no response. It has been over 2 months.

unfair billing and no negotiations
As a individual with no insurance due to full time schooling and decreased employment oppertunities from the market I was forced to enter the ER in November 2008. I was diagnosed with pneumonia but under went many extensive proceedures to verify pneumonia. The hospital was fully aware I was uninsured but billed me to the fullest extent. Unable to pay for the $9000 bill and unwilling to negotiate I am put into collections where UMC STILL refuses to negotiate. This is how you treat tax paying Americans? I am disgusted, In debt and just extremly dissapointed.

use your phone next time you go or speak too anyone in a hospital. it records and they dont even know it. and after they get nasty with you play it back. i bet they will be nice .
I have recently observed two patients physically and verbally abused by UMC Security in the ER area..that place is what nightmares are made of...an example of many other things I have observed in Las Vegas in the last two years.
This complaint does not concern the actual care in the hospital but the security guard and information people at the entrance to your hospital., My husband was admitted overnight for observation at Valley hospital which is down the street from this hospital. It was evening when we went and midnight when I took a cab back to the Encore. I went to pick him up the next day at approx 12:30 pm on Wednesday February 27th 2013.. I mistakenly went to this hospital the next afternoon. This is what I encountered as I walked through the front door. Young black girl walking by the information/security desk located to the left. Both men, a shorter, older man with black rimmed glasses and salt and pepper hair and the hispanic secutity man, on the plump side with shaved head called out sexual comments at the girl (Puss Puss I would like some of that etc. you get the drift. ) I just wanted to get my husband home so I went to the desk and asked the men where room 3019 was, they both asked me for $5.00. I ignored these comments and repeated myself. They repeated the request for money, I repeated my request. The security guard said no such room in the hospital, I requested that he look up my husbands name since I may have the wrong room number. He plopped into his chair and I had to spell Dombek 13 times to the man until he finally asked if I were in the right hospital. I said isnt this Valley and he said no it is down the block. I then asked him which way I should turn out of the parking lot, the two men exchanged looks and told me to turn right. As I was walking away the information attendant yelled out "AND DON'T COME BACK" !
I got in my car and turned left not right and Valley was right down the block.
First impressions are lasting. I would hope that perhaps someone in the human resource department would take a closer look at who they have respresenting their hospital.
The most unorganized/unsanitary hospital I have ever seen. Had surgery, nurse called pharmacy in hosp to get script filled and it took 4 hours to fill 1prescription, I thought that the nurse calling it in and, having, it sent to recovery would get it quicker, but I was obviousley mistaken. Nothing at all is done quickly at ANY UMC center.
Came there for a chest problem, end up being charged 10, 000 for housing, when I did not spend the night in there, UMC is a fraud. be aware of what they are doing before going in there.
UMC billing what a joke. Paid bill off IN FULL ON 4/ 23/08
with reciept and signiture of billing dept. stating paid in full.
UMC says I OWN FOR 4 DAYS { OP CARE ] IN THE BEGINING OF APRIL
OF 08 {YR.] WHICH RECIEPT SHOW I PAID. THEY SENT IT TO COLLECTION.
I FAX ALL INFO TO THIS AGENCY IN DEC. 08. DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM THEN
[ PRIVATE COLLECTION DEPT ] UNTIL 08/28/09 FRIDAY.
THEY SAID I STILL OWN BULL!
NEXT STEP ON MY PART LAWYER / LAW SUITE !

I went to 2 Las Vegas hospitals (ER) a few months ago. After spending 3 hours in the waiting room at Sunrise Medical Ctr., they took my vitals, said I had symptoms of an aortic aneurysm, sent me back out to the waiting room for nearly an hour and then finally took me to the back. Once in the back, they refused to put me in a bed (they said there was no room even though they had empty gurnies in the hall and patients sitting up in beds with no physical signs of distress; laughing and conversing with people who brought them there), drew blood and said they would be back in an hour. Four hours later I asked a group of nurses if my blood work was back and one told me she was busy and I "just need to take a seat." Two more hours went by and no one would even acknowledge I was there. Not once did anyone come by to take my vitals or check to see if my blood work was back either (I asked 3 times in the last 2 hours that I waited in a chair). I was still having right side pain and a fluttering coming from just under my ribs so I left and went to another hospital. Upon my arrival at the second hospital, I told them my situation and was taken back in the ER immediately. I was put in a bed, no doctor palpated me, no blood was drawn and within an hour they sent me for a CT scan. After the scan I was given a shot of hydrocodone and laid in bed for 3 hours. I was in that hospital for less than 4 hours, had no blood work, no diagnosis; just a CT scan and pk injection and they charged me $12, 000! About 2 weeks later I received the bill from Sunrise and they charged me $1300 for initial vitals and blood work that I never got results for! In those 6 hours at Sunrise, I was not seen by one doctor or nurse and subsequent vitals were refused when I asked for them (I was a nursing student and know that's mandatory for that kind of pre-diagnosis). I don't even know where to begin when it comes to settling these two bills! I am being charged nearly $14000 between the two of them and no major procedures were done. Ten years ago I was admitted and kept for 3 days for a kidney infection and my bill was less than $3000, I know costs haven't risen that much. Please help, I don't even know where to start.
I myself was brought to umc emergency room I have insurance. they were paid. Five months later I get another bill similiar but not paid by my insurance . They are billing me twice. Upon submitting certified letters they have come back to me with mailbox full . Now they are saying I checked out and came back- not true. They checked me out in the paperwork in a 18 hour period and back in once they realized the doctor wantted another test. Never corrected the paperwork, now I have an 1800 bill that is a duplicate, they refuse to bill my insurance and refuse to correct their mistake . I will be letting a judge decide this one .
