To Whom It May Concern,
We rented a vehicle through Turo from May 21, 2026, through May 28, 2026, from a host named Victor.
Upon arrival, the original vehicle was unavailable because the previous customer had not returned it on time. We were offered a different vehicle, and I had to wait approximately 30 minutes while Turo processed the change.
When we picked up the replacement vehicle, we immediately noticed several issues:

The vehicle had a strong odor of smoke.
There was little to no gas in the tank.
The driver’s side light was out.

I reported these concerns to the host at that time.
The vehicle was returned in the same condition in which it was received. We did not cause any damage to the vehicle during our rental period.
We recently discovered a charge of $1,248.58 for alleged damages, which we strongly dispute. The host claims that the rear bumper was damaged and that the driver’s side door handle was coming off. These claims are inaccurate. At the time of drop-off, there was no damage to the bumper, and the door handle was not loose or damaged.
This situation has placed my family in a very difficult and unfair position. I was never advised by the host of any damages to the vehicle. In fact, the only message I received from him after the rental was regarding the lockbox not being closed correctly, and he appeared upset about that issue. I responded and apologized for the inconvenience. At no point did he mention any damage to the vehicle.
It was not until four days later that I became aware of these claims. Based on the lack of communication regarding any damages at the time of return, I have serious concerns about the validity of this claim. I believe this host may have engaged in similar actions multiple times.
We have attached photographs taken at the time of return, which clearly show the vehicle’s condition and do not support the alleged damages. Additionally, the host’s pre-trip photos show the vehicle’s condition before the rental.
We have also included copies of our communications with the host during the rental period. These messages document the issues present at pickup, including the fuel level and evidence of smoking. This demonstrates that we reported concerns promptly and acted in good faith throughout the rental.
When I contacted the host regarding the damage claim, he acted as though he did not recognize me or the rental. Given the evidence, including photos and documented communication, I have serious concerns about the validity of this claim.
I respectfully request a full review of all photographs, messages, and related evidence. The documentation supports that the vehicle was returned without the alleged damages, and I request that the charge of $1,248.58 be removed from my account.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
