product failure
The Nest IQ outdoor security cameras have numerous issues, particularly always going offline and limited notifications/motion detection. It happens after approximately 1 year of installing and utilizing the product. It work very well, then suddenly after 1 year or so, camera constantly goes offline, motion detection is limited, no or few email notifications. NEST support always blames the consumers installation, internet provider, wifi signal, electrical, cell phone etc. I looked online and many complaints identical issues in Canada, USA, UK, Australia. So basically NEST is saying every owner is to blame. They won't replace unit unless consumer relocates the subject camera(s), yet everything was in perfect working condition until 1 year or so past. This is too coincidental, effecting almost every owner, and they support methods are ridiculous. They know the issues and what REALLY csn be done to resolve, but most owners believe this is a sham to have consumers purchase newer product line. I also found out that Nest, before Google purchased the company, were in actual fact another company that was under investigation for numerous failures. Considering we the consumers depend on these cameras home our security, it appears Nest has other means in mind...MONEY.
WARNING to all potential Nest outdoor iq cameras or other Nest products, do you diligent homework first! And don't use the reviews on NEST.COM...they only show higher ratings which would be derived from owning their product in the first year.
thermostat
On October 8 I purchased a thermostat for $84 through Duke Power working with another group called Energy Federation. I found out that the thermostat is not compatible with my system (according to a nest technician) after I opened the box. I have wasted over 2 hours of time on hold with Nest (Massachusetts) and called three times to get paperwork for a refund.
Finally after the third time of calling and waiting on hold forever I received word that the request for a refund had been put in the wrong place but now that is supposedly corrected (I spoke with 4 different persons to get this information). I'll never buy anything through Duke Power or Nest again.
