Smith, Rouchon & Associates

I need this dept removed from my credit report, I do not nor have I ever had a dept with Smith, Rouchon and Associates. I need this company to provide validity of this dept.

I deny liability for this debt with PA and lack a contract with SMITH ROUCHN, who also failed to provide the original application as requested. Account No:1011XXX Amount Disputed: $51.00, $221.00

I got 12 collections on my credit report from Smith Rouchon.. I never got a letter, phone call, or email from them. There are 4 collections that have the same amount, and two more have the same amount too! They ruined my credit! I'm getting a lawyer.

On 06/05, I noticed an alleged debt from SMITH, ROUCHON, AND ASSOCIATES of 147.00 that I don't owe. I never had any dealings with them before, and they're violating the HIPPA LAW by sharing my personal information without my consent. I sent them a letter on 06/05, asking for the validity of the alleged debt.

Smith and Rouchon, Inc. reached out to my wife, me, and my wife's workplace in a short time frame of around 10 minutes. We informed them that we would get back to them. However, when they called my wife's office, Smith and Rouchon revealed their identity as debt collectors, which is totally against the law and a rude violation of privacy. It has left my wife feeling extremely embarrassed and frustrated.

I reached out to SRA to dispute charges of $125.00 because I don't owe them any money. This happened in September 2022. I let them know that *** Hospital confirmed I didn't owe them and that it was a billing mistake. I have MS Medicaid, and the state has already paid for it. It's against the law to try and collect more than what the state has paid. The Hospital initially billed the wrong insurance company but fixed their mistake. I informed SRA about this, and they said they would fix it. However, nothing has been done yet. My credit score is being severely affected without any valid reason.

I got a bill in the mail today from this company sayin' I owe 'em $984 for a hospital bill from 2019 in Alabama? I live in SWFL and never been to Alabama in my life. The lady on the phone was super sketchy. I hung up and called Experian right away and put a fraud alert on my credit score. I'm gonna file a police report tomorrow mornin', just in case this company is legit and someone stole my social and doin' medical insurance fraud. Luckily, nothin' has been sent to my credit report yet. Still not sure if this is real or fake. Also, my name wasn't even spelled right on the bill they mailed... but they still somehow got my name and address.

I agreed with the boss to pay $50 monthly, totaling around $600 yearly. However, I received a statement showing a balance near $1000, despite payments since July. My wife spoke with the boss, learning the bill was transferred from another department, and received a new account number. Unaware of any services on 12/19, I contacted the department and was informed the bill wasn't in collections and I owed $44. I've repeatedly contacted the boss for clarification without a response. The origin of the extra charges remains unclear.

I'm writing this review to express my concerns about Smith, Rouchon & Associates, Inc. (http://www.sra-inc.net/). As a regular person, I have the right to keep my medical records private and protected under the HIPAA law (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996). However, it seems that (***) has shared my medical information with a third party without my permission. I'm not sure if I ever allowed them to do so.

I understand that HIPAA allows for some limited information to be shared, but only with the patient's authorization. Therefore, I have two requests: first, I want them to validate the debt they claim I owe, and second, I want them to provide me with the necessary HIPAA authorization.

In my opinion, Smith Rouchon & Associates, Inc. has violated my consumer rights in several ways. Firstly, they failed to validate the debt when I requested them to do so, which is a violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). Secondly, they continued to report this disputed debt to the credit reporting agencies, which is a violation of the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act). Lastly, they persisted in their attempts to collect the disputed debt, which is another violation of the FDCPA.

Due to their reporting of this debt to the credit bureaus, my reputation has been damaged, and my credit has been severely affected. This has caused me a great deal of distress and frustration.

Overall, I am disappointed with the actions of Smith, Rouchon & Associates, Inc. and I believe they should be held accountable for their violations of my consumer rights. I hope that by sharing my experience, others will be aware of the potential issues they may face when dealing with this company.

They took me to court but I didn’t get a summons that they claimed they sent. They garnished $2,600 plus from my check. During garnishments, they reported a lowered amount when it reached $700 plus. After it was paid in full on 06-20, they never removed it from my credit report. I called and they said, "Yes, I show it is $0, but you will have to speak to *** in the legal department." I got her voicemail and she never returned my call. I called back weeks later and they said they have no records of garnishments. I called the credit bureau and they said that is who reported it and they are the only one that can remove it. I keep getting the run around and that is the only bad remark on my credit. I struggled through the garnishments instead of taking the easy way out and filing bankruptcy. I did the right thing when it was debt from an abusive marriage I left, but still my responsibility. Why can’t they do the right thing and remove a debt that has been fully paid? I need help.
