ShipStation is an absolute mess if you run a business across the U.S. and Canada.
We have accounts in both countries under the same company, yet they operate like completely disconnected systems that don’t communicate at all. You’re forced to keep separate credit cards on file for each account just to cover monthly fees and postage, which is already ridiculous.
What’s worse is how they quietly handle duties and taxes. The U.S. version now builds those costs into the postage, while the Canadian version doesn’t. There’s no transparency, no proper explanation—just inconsistent calculations that leave you wondering why your margins are disappearing.
When you try to get help, don’t expect much. Support is painfully slow, and when they finally respond, they give you generic, useless answers that solve nothing. There’s zero accountability.
Because their systems don’t align, it leads to constant shipping errors—and guess who takes the blame? Not ShipStation. Your customers get angry at you, while ShipStation continues charging you for a service that actively creates problems.
At this point, it feels less like a tool and more like a liability. If you value your time, your money, and your customer relationships, stay away. There are far better options out there that won’t cost you headaches and lost revenue.
Recommendation: Do not use ShipStation
