I emailed and tried telephoning Service Site Ltd Appliance Repair Service regarding an ongoing issue of a refund owed to me by Service Site Ltd since September 5, 2023.

On May 2nd 2023, I had booked with Service Site Appliance Repair, Cambridge to have my washing machine repaired. Simon Jones was the assigned engineer sent to my flat on May 4th. He diagnosed the problem as a washing machine pump issue, changed the pump and charged me £ 146.30. On May 14, the washing machine was switched on, for the first time since repair but did not work. The repair was under Service Site's six-month guarantee.

I informed Service Site on May 15, 2023 that the machine had never worked since the engineer had supposedly repaired it. They agreed that my complaint fell under the Quality of workmanship guarantee. The engineer Simon Jones got in touch with me, accused me of lying, and claimed that I had damaged the machine and therefore I would be charged for a second call-out and repair. There was no discussion about checking for a related problem that could have been overlooked.

In view of Simon Jones's needlessly derogatory remarks, I was uncomfortable for him to return to my flat for a second diagnosis. It was agreed by Service Site that I should get a second opinion, Service Site also said that on receipt of the diagnosis, if it was found that their engineer had misdiagnosed the problem, I would be given a full refund.

I asked Danny Milloy of D.M. Appliances, Cambridge, specialists in washing machine repairs to investigate the problem. He diagnosed the problem as an NTC problem. He also examined the pump, which in his opinion was not damaged.

I sent to Service Site the invoice which included the statement on September 5, 2023 not receiving either a response nor an acknowledgement, I sent a reminder on September 17, 2023. To date I have received no acknowledgement, no response, and no refund. Their phone lines are dead and their website does not work.

The following is a break-up of the money owed to me.

I was charged £146.30 + £40.00 for a call-out charges

Total: 186.30

Desired outcome: I need my refund.
