Makro Port Elizabeth reviews and complaints
electronics dept
On 7 December 2018, I bought an Asus laptop at Makro PE. When I started using the laptop for work in January 2019, I realised that the laptop is very slow. Since I do not live in PE, I cannot just go to the store to get it sorted out. When I tried calling Makro to describe my problem, I kept on being put through to the next operator as it was the call center number. On 28 March, a Thursday, I went to Makro, with my slip and original packaging. Since I bought the laptop with them, I should send it back to them if it is faulty. They switched the laptop on and told me nothing was wrong, although it was slow. Then they told me I have to return the laptop to the distributors myself, they won't do it for me. They told me the distributors is Pinnacle. I left Makro in a state, because they refuse to send my laptop away for repairs or to refund me. We managed to get hold of pinnacle and they said the laptop will be collected between 2-5 April. Today is 8 April and the laptop has still not been collected. I spoke to Rudi at Makro, he keeps on making empty promises. He tells me he talks to Benny the manager, but weird enough, when I insist on talking to Benny the manager I am not allowed to. At 17:20 today, 8 April 2019, Rudi said he will phone me back, because he needs to talk to Benny, it is now 20:52 and he still has not phoned me back. Makro only cares about selling products, they have no respect for after care. Do not buy things with a warranty, because according to makro the warranty means nothing.
staff attitude
Good Day.
I had occasion to come to Makro to buy a lawn mower. We had to hang around the garden department for some time until I became impatient and asked a passing staff member where the person was to attend to us. She complained that he was missing again eventually locating him after asking three other staff members.
We were served without apology and with indifference as were the rest of the staff we encountered. It seems that talking among themselves is more important than the clients.
Even at the checkout we encountered the same indifference when we were leaving and the security were less than enthusiastic. It seems that you have a generally unhappy staff and it rubs off on the customer. Makro would certainly not be my first port of call other than if the price was better.
You spend enormous amounts of money on advertising and trying to get people in to the store only to have the staff make us feel that we are an inconvenience. You can do better than this. Perhaps the store manager needs to prioritise service. Profit will follow automatically.
Regards,
Clive Fraser.
security door
I made a internet payment for a security door. As we are from Port Alfred I ask a courier to pick it up for me. Although 3 different people confirm the money is reflecting in their account they refused to release the door. I had to pay the courier 3 times before they could pick up the door. A made several calls without success.
