1-27-23 I've been dealing with Florida ebt for years since I had my daughter who is now 9. Being a single parent is hard enough but for the most part it's been simple to deal with recertification's and income updates through the website. I upload either a screenshot or PDF of my checks as soon as i process paperwork and then everything goes smoothly. There...

First of all, for some reason my complaint went on the Florida Department of Revenue site. I meant for it to be posted on the Florida Department of Children and Family Services. It may be because I starting typing in Florida, and the Dept of Revenue site came up, because there isn't one listed for DCFS. Instead, this time I will post this follow up...

If there is one word to describe Florida Department Of Children And Family? Horrible. They will not help you here in Florida and if they do the assistance amount with how expensive food is out here won’t be enough to feed you and your family for less than two weeks and that help come once a month. The Government in Florida has never thought or care that the...

I am a professional who cannot secure a job due to the horrendous economy in Florida & therefore had to apply for food stamp assistance. My worker has proved completely unprofessional & incompetent and the agency (DCF Food Stamp Assistance) has proved completely unresponsive to my inquiries. Despite having met the criteria for expeditied foodstamps and...

Florida Food Stamps Customer Service

I finally got through on the phone line after calling constistently for a week, literally, only to be told that my faxed documents had not been recieved. This is crap I have a copy of every fax confirmation sheet. Apparently the office uses the excuse that the document was unclear. If that is the case maybe they need better fax machines. I was told that I may have sent the fax when the system was down. Everytime? I asked if this was something that happened often and was told NO. I find that very interesting given the other complaints here and the number of time I have sent this fax.I faxed my information to [protected] like my paper stated. I was told that this was a correct fax number and that if that one had not work the use another one [protected]. How many fax numbers do they have? This is just another avenue they use as an excuse. My tax payers dollars are paying for the people on the other end of the phone not to be able to help. How about pay for a damn fax machine that actually works. I am not one that is for taking jobs away from people and replacing them with machines or computers, but It may be more useful. Is it too much to set up and e-mail account and have papers scanned and sent there. Then they could be printed or viewed by whomever. I would be more than willing to set that up for them. I also asked if it is to much to ask that, if a fax comes over and some part of is is illegible, a case worker contact you and let you know. I was told in a round about way they don't have time, and that how would they know who it belongs to. You mean to tell me that with my name, case number, and social security number written all over this damn paper like they requested NONE of it is legible? I was told to continue to re-fax the paper and check my online access acount to see if the paper had been recieved. I then told them that I had entered all the CORRECT information to register online and the screen just says that the information provided is not valid. I was told oh well I don't know what to do about that. I also asked for an e-mail address to scan and e-mail the paper. I was told there isn't one. So, those of us in desperate need of a little help are expected to continuously pay for faxes, and spend time that could be used for us to be in search of jobs or what not to call this joke of an 800 number, and never get an answer. If we were to operate like this when the governement or state wanted information from us we would be jailed. This is ludicrous! I would rather have the office back in Ocala that you would go to and wait for 3 or 4 hours for a case worker. At least by the time you left you had answers and the caseworker, had no excuse of not recieveing your paperwork to hide behind.

I gotta say reading these comments and all of them are spot on. It makes no sense to hire lazy case workers, why are they there if they don't want to do their job? I have dealt with this and I must say honestly the state needs to fire everyone and hire new people. The attitudes and rudeness of some of the case workers are just asinine. People pay millions in taxes for programs like this in case it's needed and when it's needed it shouldn't be a problem getting utilized. It's to many people out here looking for work that would gladly treat others with dignity and respect dcf needs to clean house and hire all new staff. Maybe integrate multiple shifts for workers to choose from which in turn will give the public more access to case workers consider 8hr days and evenings, select hours on weekends. Well that's just my 2cents doesn't mean much and nobody is gonna listen, but it sure would be nice if someone did.

I am homeless. I had to recertify by December 15, 2021. I don't own a car..am 66 years old..I finally was able to reapply on December 16, 2021. Only to not receive any other email other than the one telling me my application had been received. On January 6, 2022, I didn't receive any food stamps. I tried several times on the 6th..as well as the 7th...to get ahold of someone...a real live person to talk to..to no avail. Today.., January 8, 2022, I sat on hold for 3 hours and 45 minutes until I actually spoke to a woman...her name is Kim...was told nothing other than it can take up to 30 days to respond or to decide on my case. That it does no good to call and speak with someone until that 30 days are up... Instead of being emailed that my case is pending..or even a phone call, I guess my application was ignored. My SS check is a whole whopping $200. So, now. Here I sit...with no food..and no confirmation if I will even get food stamps any more. And, then, as if that isn't bad enough..the woman made me feel like dirt..like it's my fault there has been no follow up with me...I apparently am responsible for not receiving an email...much less a phone call to let me know my case is pending or in review! Great job, Florida! Good to know the elderly don't need looking after. Thanks!

I whole -heartedly agree! My family relies on SNAP to keep food on our table for the time being and they couldn't care less. If any of us acted this way at a job, we would be canned. In life, jailed. I have a BA and a high IQ and it is bad enough being talked down to by someone; but that on top of the HOURS it takes to get in a hold line, the numerous HOURS I have spent on hold, and the continuous misinformation that borders on purposeful torture, it is almost too much to bare! I found this complaint board because I too was given the wrong FAX number by one of the reps. This is after closing our case for missing a phone interview for renewal due to THEM sending it to the wrong address. For a whole month, we have eaten one "meal" a day and spent all our utility monies on the little we needed to survive. Myself and my husband (who works full time) have called repeatedly due to this error and been told that we needed to fill out ANOTHER application, but the stack of things we already faxed would suffice. Twenty-nine days into our "30 day waiting period" and I made one more call to make SURE we were on track, even though the other five representatives had told us just to wait. Low and behold, I was told those reps were ALL wrong and that the paperwork needed sent AGAIN or we would be denied AGAIN. Over a FIVE MINUTE phone call? Really?
After I managed to contain my crying, she told me to HURRY and get that paperwork in AGAIN...TODAY! This is easier said than done considering our ONE vehicle and my husband being at work. She then gave me that FAX number that LOW AND BEHOLD doesn't even work!
I ask for a supervisor, and am told there isn't one. I ask for their bosses name and told there is no boss. One lady, who said her name was "Betsy" gave me the name of the HEAD of Job and Families in the Governor's Office!
At this point, these people have made me feel worthless and frustrated and very angry. I would go hungry for the rest of my life if someone came through and fired all the 40 hour, weekend off, health insurance package, 401K, life insurance, paid vacation, tax PAID, careless, tactless, idiots in there. People complain about others receiving SNAP...when the REAL WASTE are the people getting paid 40-60K a year to be rude and thoughtless.

On December21, 2011, I had heart surgery on a emergency. Being I was on disability waiting for medicare, i had no insurance. I applied for medicaid. They told me to submit all of my hospital bills and they would take care of them. I did that in January 2012. I am now getting constant calls and letters from lawyers because my bills were not paid. In Florida, it's impossible to reach DCF by phone. I can only drive short distance, so its difficult for me to travel 27 miles to their office. I need help and i have nowhere to go. I am 58 years old and i have worked all of my life. I guess that means nothing. I live off of $771.00 a month that i get from diaability.

If the call center is constantly dealing with a high volumn of calls starting at 8:am, then why provide information as to how to find the access office w/ times they are taking customers for interviews. I tried for 2 days to get a person and then went to the office, driving 12+ miles one way, using gas that I need for job interviews. I arrived at 4:10pm and was told they stop taking interviews at 4. When I asked about coming back the next day, The guy was rather rude and seemed he didn't want to answet my questions about what I needed to bring with me, best time to come back, will my case be closed since I din't get an interview by the time they said in the letter. I think it might be diferent if the people working in these social service areas had to actually go through the process, they may then have a bit of compassion and care with those less fortunate than themselves.
