I am a dog breeder that had worked with Puppy Spot for a few years.
while I as a breeder work myself to the bone to produce healthy puppies, ethically, long 18 hour days, sleepless nights, no vaccations, catering to every client request and having no free time for anything, Puppy Spot comes along and makes anywhere from $1000-$2000 per puppy while doing none of the hard work. All they do is advertise and making sales.
They are nothing but a DOG BROKER- "The middle man" making money off of breeders' hard work. Same as a pet store would be- a middle man-only they are high end retail stores that actually have major over head.
Only the difference is that a pet store actually BUYS the puppies from a breeder and cares for the puppy until sold. Puppyspot a Puppy Broker adds their broker fee to the breeder's asking purchase price and sells the puppy for at least double that.. Heck- it makes pet stores sound great now - Huh? At least you get to "see" the puppy you're buying. Not that I would recommend you do so, as I know first hand that stores buy from puppy mills for like $300 a puppy and sells for like $2000-$3000.
As an ethical dog breeder I charge $1850 for my puppies when you find my business and come to me to buy a puppy. I offer a way better warranty than Puppy Spot will ever offer you. Only at Puppyspot you will be paying about $3800 for the same puppy. WOW! Really? YES! really! Now, I know brokers are out there to make money- but profiting $2000 ON TOP of what the breeder makes is a rip off to anyone buying through a broker. Puppyspot used to be "Buy puppies direct"! How would someone buy "direct" from a broker? what a joke! And absolutely misleading- making people believe they are buying "directly" from the breeder. How far from the truth!? Now hold on; I have talked to the clients that bought a puppy from Puppyspot and we kept in touch. Guess what else I learned. While I bought the crate out of my own money, Puppyspot "Charged" for the same crate on their end. They DIDN'T buy the crate. So turns out that buyer is also double paying for the airfare as well. In addition client is also paying for the pre shipping vet exam twice as well. Once to the breeder and once to Puppy spot. Did Puppyspot take the puppy to the vet? No. Then they will be paying for another exam when they get the puppy. Client's expenses do not end at the "purchase fee". Puppy spot is so greedy that they will make double and triple their money on Anything relating to the sale. I am appalled and so disgusted. Paying $3800 for a puppy will not get you a better puppy than the one costing $1850! In most cases clients come to me personally and get their puppies, seeing where I live and how the dogs are kept. So clients: do your research- Pay less, buy from a reputable breeder, get a better warranty and "see" the dog your buying when you pick it up in person. This is a corrupt company and they have many "sick puppies" complaints. So beware. They claim to not deal with puppy mills but I personally know some very shady breeders that work with Puppyspot and they fit the description of a puppy mill to a T.

I have already acquired an attorney as our poor pup has been through hell in the 2 months we have had her. Over $10,000 in medical bills. Started with parvo, adverse reaction to meds and puppy dry food, and now seizures. She's only 4.5 months old. This is not right what they are doing to these dogs. Just not acceptable. I will not back down and will get justice for my pup Skye and all her brother and sisters.

I have a very nervous puppy as well. I got him on Feb 14, 2022, and he was delivered. I love him of course very much, but he is not right. I cannot housebreak him, he eats his own poop, and he is terrified of people and outside. I paid a lot of money for him. He is allegedly a Shih Tzu, but his torso is very, very long, his front paws are pigeon toed. His coloring is beautiful. In my heart, I know he is not a full-bred Shih tzu. Shame on you Puppyspot!

Hi. I also had a bad experience with them. I purchased my sweet dog using their store card. I purchased my puppy for $3,300 and ended up being charged almost $10,000. Plz let me know if you are gathering ppl and maybe I can sue them as well. When I asked for my money back and for them to re home the puppy they threatened to kill her! My email:

PuppySpot also ripped me off. After the purchase i saw where the exact puppy was on Puppyfind previous to PuppySpot buying her for $1500. They turned around and charged me $4,000. They didnt even bother changing the pictures, they were exactly the same. The dog i got, a belgian Malinois, Cindy Marmon- was the breeder, isnt even close to the size of a true AKC sized Mal. This puppy is about the size of a beagle but should be closer in size to a GSD. As a trainer of many decades I recognized all the signs of a puppy mill puppy. This puppy was several months old when i got her and it was obvious no socializing had been done at all! Terrified of all things, all people, cars, dogs, kids everthing that moved. She s paranoid, fear bites , and barks excessively. I was stupid and lazy because i knew better. Always meet your breeder, pup and the pups parents when buying a puppy.

I also take great pride in my Maltese. Spend hours caring for my dogs and don't need a broker to place my babies. After seeing Puppy Spot on Fox I contacted them and learned they were fronting for puppy mills. They show up every time I search the web so they must have a very large advertising budget. They are not to be trusted. Sorry to read all these complaints.

We purchased a Puppy from puppy spot in May 2018. Jace, a labradoodle F1B 8 weeks old, standard. We received him and he was fantastic. First initial vet visit was good, but then things started to change. Jace became ill, constant diarrhea, vomiting. So much watery diarrhea, it was hard to get a stool sample for about 4 weeks. After we could finally get the sample it was too late to claim the giardia he had, he also had worms. fast forward about a month, after several medications to clear up the giardia, still sick, vomiting after each time he ate. Finally mid-July, I had enough and requested an allergy test for my puppy. It came back positive with several allergies: beef, chicken, pork, blueberries, cranberries, kangaroo, lamb, wheat gluten, dairy, and the list goes on. He can eat rice, turkey, eggs and that is it. The reason the giardia would not clear up since his guts were so irritated. After we got that all figured out he has been ok. Just costs a lot to feed since he is very sensitive.
**thinking it was a fluke...we purchased puppy #2.

Ok, now on to puppy #2 we purchased in November 2018. He arrived on the plane in his crate and looked like a dog straight from a puppy mill. He smelled horrific, he was tiny compared to Jace when we got him the exact same age. He is a chocolate labradoodle f1b, standard. He weighed 12 lbs. Jace weighed 18 lbs when we got him. Bailey smelled so bad along with all the matted fur...there is no doubt in my mind it was a puppy mill. I gave him three baths that night he came home and 3 more the next day...this is not an over exaggeration. He still had his dew claws. The way he acted when he got here was not right either. His paws looked like they never saw the ground. Contacted puppy spot and they did an "investigation" into the breeder...whatever they can take pictures of any farm and send them over. I still don't believe it. If this wasn't a puppy mill, they did a really [censored]ty job caring for this puppy. After he was cleaned up, took him to his vet visit and long behold, giardia. It didn't surprise me. Fast-forward to January 2019, Bailey has some type of cyst/tumor on his eyelid, we are treating it with antibiotics, but it is not working. Now today, he started to have seizures...yes seizures...I left them a message regarding this, I better get every penny back that I paid for this dog or I am going a produce a lawsuit so big it will put this place out of business. Bailey is still a very small dog..if he is a standard and gets to be 40 lbs I will be surprised. I love both of these dogs so much, but the vet bills are piling up.

How awful. Thank you for the report/review. I just texted back that "I will absolutely NOT purchase a puppy from them". This decision was easy after I read page after page of negative reviews of Puppy Spot on several sites.

Lost my beloved puppy, (1yr. 4mo.) Sammy in June. He started out so loving and sweet, but developed aggressive tendencies that worsened by the day. His mood would turn in a split second, and had to be put to sleep. Breeder said she was sorry, but really had nothing else to say. I paid over $2000.00 for him. This is one of the most devastating things I have ever gone through and will never buy a puppy this way again.

thank you for your post. I've been looking for a puppy for the last couple of months and have become very skeptical with everything on the internet! We are looking at adoption as well - but have not found the breed we are looking for. As a respectable breeder - can you tell me how I go about identifying a responsible breeder who specializes in specific breeds (we are looking for a Shih Tzu Bichon mix). We are especially interested in meeting the breeder and the mother of the litter. We purchased a Shicon puppy 15 years ago...purchased him over the Internet not knowing much about him. He had lots of health issues but we loved him dearly. We lost him last May and looking to bring another four legged companion back into our lives. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I do believe this is a puppy mill middle man. Responsible breeders do not over charge for their puppies as this site does. I bought three labs from a respectable breeder and paid way under $1000.00. They were the most incredible dogs in manner and health.
