After much deliberation and correspondence to and from prime style I finally placed an order for a ring for my sons Xmas over a week ago and was told to expect it by this Thursday. I did everything they said I contacted my bank to verify I wanted the money transferred over. Plus I gave them my credit card details so they could put a hold on the outstanding balance should I fail to keep up with the arranged instalment plan. Everything seemed fine until yesterday when I recieved an email asking for photographic copies of the back and front of my credit card together with my passport. Before I sent the copies of my credit card as asked. I got in touch with them and told them to cancel my order as I don't have a passport. Then as I was chatting with Jenny in their chat room she told me it didn't have to be a passport just something that verified my address. So I asked if they would except a very recent letter from HM REVENUE AND CUSTOMS. Which they said they would I asked if I could still expect my ring by this Thursday and Jenny said she'd get back to me after they recieved my emails. When I returned home tonight to find no correspondence I contacted them immediately. Now they wanted a copy of my credit card statement because as she said they didn't believe I had no passport. I have bought many items off the internet now and have never been asked for any proof of id. I'm totally disgusted with this whole ordeal how they lead me to believe that the process would be painless and straight forward. Failing to point out that they'd first need copies of various things before my order could be processed. I feel very uncomfortable and stupid now that I was taken in enough to send them all my photographic information and as much as they claim to be legit how do I know they won't use my data. This whole experience had made me feel uneasy about future buying from the Internet even though I've bought quite a lot of stuff in the past few months now. It's such a pity that this company wasn't simply up front and forthcoming before accepting my money. I asked why they didn't tell me this before hand and why it isn't anywhere in their reviews. I was told it would be passed on. However for me it's too late now the huge dissapointment and damage has been done. I'm now left me with very little time to get my sons present especially if they delay returning all of my deposits as I have no spare money until this comes back. What I'd like is my money back in my account today and for this company to ensure they never waste another customers time. They need to make full disclosure upfront not every one has a passport because we can't all afford to go abroad therefore we see no need to waste more money on a passport.
