Powell Electric was a total rip-off! They charged me an arm and a leg for a simple task. Can you believe it? They quoted me a whopping $800 just to move a tiny light fixture 10 inches! And to add insult to injury, they had the audacity to charge me $79 just for showing up. Can you believe that? Three other electricians gave me quotes ranging from $120 to $160. Thankfully, I found a top-notch professional who did the job for only $140 the very next day. I can't believe I wasted $79 on Powell Electric!

Their document says they are supposed to give a price before doing the work. They went ahead and did the work and then based their price on what they felt the customer can afford to pay. One electrician spent 2 hours on a Saturday ($300) plus $100 for materials. The total cost should have been $400, but they charged me $890. It's a total rip off. They should be held accountable.

I had a problem with no electricity in three rooms. Doug from Powell Electric was very rude. Then he tries to find the problem. He says it will cost $2,500.00 to fix it. That's not affordable. He says the problem is in the walls. The next day, my Son-in-Law comes over and fixes the problem by fixing my bathroom outlet. Wow, what a joke! Don't use this expensive company.

I think they came and took the $99 fee from my wallet. They gave me an estimate of $400 to change a plug... $1500 to hang a ceiling light - and the junction box didn't need moving. They write it down, "call in" for the quote, and then give an estimate that no sane person would accept. Then, they take the fee money because, well, you signed. This is shady business. They make money from fees. Regular folks expect a quote that's in a "normal" range. They're never in that range. I feel sick and like I got robbed. This company should be ashamed.

Me and my wife, we're both in our 70s, and 'cause of this Covid thing and our health issues, we were told to stay home. So when our electrical panel went kaput, we kinda freaked out. We were worried 'bout our food goin' bad and havin' to rely on our kids to get groceries for us. Plus, it was the hottest weekend since this whole pandemic started, so we really wanted this fixed ASAP. It happened on a Saturday, so we called up Powell Electric 'cause we've seen their ads on TV. They came over right away and got us back up and runnin' temporarily, and then scheduled the real work for Monday. We figured the price they quoted was fair 'cause we were in a bind, so we agreed to it.

Later that day, our daughters came to visit and we told 'em 'bout the situation and showed 'em the contract. They wanted a second opinion, so they set up an appointment with Henson's Unique Lighting in Laguna Niguel, which is closer to where one of our daughters lives. Turns out, their price was half of what Powell was chargin'. But Powell was already scheduled to come on Monday, and we didn't wanna delay it any further, so we asked if they could match the other price or at least lower it by a couple thousand bucks. The guy named Al from Powell said he could only give us a 10% refund. So we ended up payin' way more than we should have.

We went ahead and had Powell do the work, but our daughters took over talkin' to the owner, hopin' he would understand why we didn't wanna postpone it and maybe offer us a better deal. We appreciate that they were able to do the job quickly and get us back on track, but I can't help but feel like they took advantage of our age and the current situation.
